Professional :: Navigating Timeline With Buttons Nested In Movie Clips?
Jan 21, 2010
I usually use this code to navigate the timeline from buttons:
function onProdAClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {gotoAndPlay("prod1"); } prodA_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onProdAClick);
How would I code navigation if the button is nested in two MC's? I've been using the code below. It works fine for one button but once I try to code the second button (which is on the same frame and in the same MC's) it gives me this error: 1151: A conflict exists with definition _root in namespace internal. Warning: 3596: Duplicate variable definition.
I'm trying to create a flash banner with several nested movie clips within it. I want each movie to run one after the other (not at the same time) but the top layer just keeps dominating (but not even working) even though I've added it's movie further down the main timeline. Before dragging on the second movie I inserted a keyframe.[code]...
I have a flash file which contains two movie clips, one is on frame 1 which contains a button which will navigate you to the other movie clip which is on frame 10 with a frame label that i would like to target.
Basically I have a flash website built on different frames of the timeline, the simplest way I think.Some of these frames have movie clips embedded into them using the flv playback component class.The problem I have is the following, the site works fine and videos play fine, but whenever I navigate offa part of the website to another, from a frame to another - the sound of the clips that were playing keepsplaying on the background and never stop and it keeps building up every time I navigate of.f each page.I want to remark that I believe is not only the sound that keeps playing "invisible" but the whole clip butThis is the AS code for my buttons on an example frame, would you be so kind to tell me what I should add or change
I just had my first flash lesson a couple of days ago, but decided to venture myself into trying to build a navigation tool bar with movie clips grouped together. My intention is that once the mouse rolls over one particular movie clip, another movie clip fades in under it (my version of a "drop down" menu). Just so it happens, the movie clip that fades in, is also comprised of particular movie clips with their own behaviors (roll over tween effects).
I can make each individual movie clip behave as it should, but I cannot get them to work once they are pieced together. I'm attaching a link that contains the file I'm talking about (submenu), in the hopes that one of you good Samaritans would take a look at it and tell me where I went wrong.[URL]..
I'm trying to play different animations using buttons using the below code but I keep getting an error. Totally new to flash but I'm sure it's something really simple
function goHome(event:MouseEvent):void {  home_animation.play(); } home_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, goHome); function goIntro(event:MouseEvent):void { intro_animation.play(); }
Ive been having problems getting buttons within a movie clip to control the main timeline and switch scenes. Ive tried everything from _root.gotoAndPlay to with(_parent) and such.
the rollover event fires, but the alpha reduction does not. I replaced the alpha = 50, with a trace statement, and was successful, plus I get the hand when I roll over the movie clip, so I know that the event is registering. However, when I place the same code directly on the instance, it works fine. I thought the only difference between placing code on the timeline and directly on an instance was a matter of convention, and that timeline code is generally a better practice.
Within my animation I have two movie clips, one movie clip "clipA" runs to a certain point then a series of buttons appear when you hit the button it loads another movie clip "clipB" into the first movie clip "clipA". Whith in the second movie clip "clipB" I would like to be able to, at a certain frame navigate to a different frame within "clipA" is this possible to do with actionscript 2.0
I am useing thikbox code to open iframes out of flash.
[Code]...
Now i need to make some button rollovers for my button. I know i need to set up my timeline in the button movie clips, but how do i tell flash when i rollover button_mc3 move on the time line.
how do you locate where a movie clip resides if you don't see it in the timeline!? I was handed a Flash file in which there is a movie clip of an antimated button (lets call it button A) that I must swap out with another button (button B), but in order to do that I have to find the instance in which button A is used in the banner animation.
Its been difficult since there are multiple layers and scrubbing through the animation doesn't even show when the instances of the button A reside! The only time I see it, is when I export it. Other than that, I have to scrub through and click on every layer and take a shot in the dark by locating the little movie clip circle - which 9 times out of 10 is not the one I was looking for.
I have a movie clip on my timeline and it has maybe 60 frames in it. There's enough space for it to play and loop, and when I press ctrl enter to preview it, it plays as expected. However, as I scrub through my animation, the only things that play are the motion tweens I made. The movie clip just stays stuck on the first frame. I was curious so I exported it as is right now and it goes through the frames correctly there too. However, this is fustrating because I want to see the movie clip cycle through it's frames when I scrub through my timeline!
So I used flash for some relatively extensive movies back in the MX days, but haven't done much with it since. I'm trying to build a relatively simple movie now in the newest version of the software, but I'm having some trouble.I want to create various smaller movie clips with animations in them, then drop them into the main timeline and have them animate automatically when the playhead hits them. However, when I view the movie (or test it) all I get is the first frame, they don't animate.Did I set up the document wrong or something, or is this something basic I missed in the newer versions? Is there a better way to structure this?
Excuse the probably simple question but I'm just starting off with Flash.I have imported a few video trailers directly into flash and saved them as movie clips. I want to be able to insert these movie clips onto the main timeline and play them one after the other, repeating once they have all played. On the main timeline I have set a layer for each clip and a keyframe where the clip is inserted for each layer. When I go to play the flash file, it is showing the first frame from each movie file and then moving to the first frame of the next movie file. What do I need to do to make flash play the entire movie file in that specific frame before moving to the next frame where the next movie file is and playing all that movie?
I'm working on my own personal website for my graphic design work and I'm using flash for the intro movie, which you can either skip or after an elapsed time, sends you directly to the home page. On that intro movie (which ill call animatedface_mc) i've put two other movie clips with the eyes blinking (left and right). The eyes would be constantly blinking, as this page is open. That one is working. Off to the side are buttons of names of famous celebrities and once clicked it adds movie clips to the main animatedface_mc. For example if i clicked on the monroe_mc, it adds that famous Marilyn Monroe mole (using either mask or opacity, depending on the facial feature) on the animatedface_mc. If I clicked on tyson_mc, it adds his face tattoo. I've used the following code for this:
So ive set up some buttons into a movie clip, but i want to get them performing actions in a movie clip that is within another clip.For example, the code below is what I have attached to one of my buttons. The Movieclip 2photosMC2 is inside a DIFFERENT movie clip to the ones where the buttons are stored. How can I script so that the button actions activate the correct clip?  on(release){ photosMC.gotoAndPlay("img 02"); }
How would one go about masking movie clips that are nested within other movie clips?
I have a photo gallery slider type of thingy that loads jpegs with loadMovie into containers. I can mask the entire movie clip but as for the containers,...well I just dont know whats going on here.
I have three separate movie clips on the stage, while the mouse is over any movie clip I want the arrow keys (up,down,left,right) to navigate through the frames of that movieclip. The following code only seems to partially work. When I interact with a button on a movieclip the arrow keys only advance to the next or previous frame of the movie clip and then no longer work.
I am in the middle of creating a website using Flash CS5. I opened up my .Fla file one day to continue my work but I am no unable to access buttons and movie clips. When creating movie clips or buttons I am unable to get inside them, when I hover my mouse over them there is a white hand icon which never used to be there it was always just a normal mouse icon. I double click to enter inside the buttons/movie clips but nothing happens. This happens to existing movie clips and buttons on the page and even when I create new ones. I really don't wanna have to start this website again.
I have a straight forward flash document where the play head plays from start to finish. The client wants a way to stop and start the animation if time is needed to discuss what is happening on screen. Simple buttons can easily do this if those buttons are not nested.
However, if I make a mouse over pop up movie clip button and place those button inside it, they do not work. I can not find the piece of code that will link these nested buttons back to the main time line.
I have multiple movie clips on stage (all in separate layers, of course) as well as buttons on stage to play each movie clip. There are buttons inside each movie clip. The problem is that the buttons inside the top layered movie clip work, but the others in the movie clips below don't.
It's me again and I'm running into a problem. So, I have this movie clip that is nested inside multiple movie clips. I want to tell Flash to perform an action when that movie clip hits another movie clip in the main timeline. It's just collision detection for a game using the hitTestObject code. I was thinking of using MovieClip(root), but that won't work since it's nested so much.
Basically I am trying to get buttons that I have in a drop down menu load an external .swf into an empty movie clip placed on the main timeline. However for some reason it is not working. The buttons are contained in a movie called "menuItems" which is then placed in a movieclip called "mainMenu" which is then placed on the main timeline.
on (release) { _parent.gotoAndPlay("reverse"); if (_root._root._root.currMovie == undefined) { _root._root._root.currMovie = "personalData";
I'm not sure if this problem's caused by a change made in CS5 or if I'm just doing something wrong (havn't used flash in a while), but I've run into a problem where; I've created a second animated layer (classic tween) inside the timeline of another movie clip. The problem is, when I add a key frame in the timeline of the parent movie clip, it resets the timeline inside it (as in, it goes back to the begining).
I am creating a map (a jpg) and when you click in certain hotspots it uses tween lite to change the scale of the map to 50 to show info on the region. There are 20 regions and every region has its own JPG (900x600px 60k each). All JPG are inside the SWF (its size is 1.3Mb). The problem is that when you are navigating the map sometimes freezes and you need to refresh the page to unfreeze it. Could be this because the large amounts of images or maybe the scale of 50 I am using?
I have a movie clip nested in frame 2 (* = movie clip in frame 2), it looks like this:
[1][2*][3]
When I test the movie it skips over frame 2. What type of action script (AS2) do I need either in the movie clip and/or in frame 2 to get the movie to play before proceeding and stopping at frame 3?
Here's my example, on frame 1 is an mc I created named holder. Inside there's an mc named box. Inside box are four mcs, circles1-4, inside the circles I have four skulls.If I want to affect only the skulls, what is the proper way to go about it?For instance, whats the proper way to write a trace statement?or , if I wanted the skulls to fade individually on mouse over, how would you properly go about writing this function?  function over(evt:MouseEvent):void{ evt.target.alpha = .5; {
I have a movie clip, lets call this Container. This contains another 4 movie clips, BubbleRed, BubbleGreen, BubblePurple and BubbleGold. Each of these 4 movie clips have an animated time line. When a Container is rolled over it is added to an array. I have a function which does things to the Containers on the array. However I have been trying to get the movie clips in the container to play.
I have created accordion. I have three buttons(movieclips) on stage and inside each movieclip is a mask that masks submenus. So when you roll over the button , the mask expands revealing submenus - buttons(movie clips). All buttons are aligning to the expanding mask. So far so good. But there is a problem. I can not access submenus - nested movie clips which are revealed by the expanding mask.
