Professional :: Movie Clips Playing On The Timeline?

I have a movie clip on my timeline and it has maybe 60 frames in it. There's enough space for it to play and loop, and when I press ctrl enter to preview it, it plays as expected. However, as I scrub through my animation, the only things that play are the motion tweens I made. The movie clip just stays stuck on the first frame. I was curious so I exported it as is right now and it goes through the frames correctly there too. However, this is fustrating because I want to see the movie clip cycle through it's frames when I scrub through my timeline!

Excuse the probably simple question but I'm just starting off with Flash.I have imported a few video trailers directly into flash and saved them as movie clips. I want to be able to insert these movie clips onto the main timeline and play them one after the other, repeating once they have all played. On the main timeline I have set a layer for each clip and a keyframe where the clip is inserted for each layer. When I go to play the flash file, it is showing the first frame from each movie file and then moving to the first frame of the next movie file. What do I need to do to make flash play the entire movie file in that specific frame before moving to the next frame where the next movie file is and playing all that movie?

I'm trying to make a flash website that has clickable buttons that will play different movie clips. But I dont know how to make it to just play the movie clip with the button you click without playing all the movie clips on the main timeline.

how do you locate where a movie clip resides if you don't see it in the timeline!? I was handed a Flash file in which there is a movie clip of an antimated button (lets call it button A) that I must swap out with another button (button B), but in order to do that I have to find the instance in which button A is used in the banner animation.
Its been difficult since there are multiple layers and scrubbing through the animation doesn't even show when the instances of the button A reside! The only time I see it, is when I export it. Other than that, I have to scrub through and click on every layer and take a shot in the dark by locating the little movie clip circle - which 9 times out of 10 is not the one I was looking for.

Basically I have a flash website built on different frames of the timeline, the simplest way I think.Some of these frames have movie clips embedded into them using the flv playback component class.The problem I have is the following, the site works fine and videos play fine, but whenever I navigate offa part of the website to another, from a frame to another - the sound of the clips that were playing keepsplaying on the background and never stop and it keeps building up every time I navigate of.f each page.I want to remark that I believe is not only the sound that keeps playing "invisible" but the whole clip butThis is the AS code for my buttons on an example frame, would you be so kind to tell me what I should add or change

I'm trying to create a flash banner with several nested movie clips within it. I want each movie to run one after the other (not at the same time) but the top layer just keeps dominating (but not even working) even though I've added it's movie further down the main timeline. So I used flash for some relatively extensive movies back in the MX days, but haven't done much with it since. I'm trying to build a relatively simple movie now in the newest version of the software, but I'm having some trouble.I want to create various smaller movie clips with animations in them, then drop them into the main timeline and have them animate automatically when the playhead hits them. However, when I view the movie (or test it) all I get is the first frame, they don't animate.Did I set up the document wrong or something, or is this something basic I missed in the newer versions? Is there a better way to structure this?

How would I code navigation if the button is nested in two MC's? I've been using the code below. It works fine for one button but once I try to code the second button (which is on the same frame and in the same MC's) it gives me this error: 1151: A conflict exists with definition _root in namespace internal. I'm working on a campaign website and I need to catch the deadline by tomorrow! I'm stuck. I hope somebody here could help me. Here's how I want to do it:Everything will happen in the main timeline / main Stage.
1. I have F4V clips that I want to load into the FLV Playback, placed in the main timeline (stage), every time the corresponding buttons are clicked. The buttons with questions and their actions are each placed in their corresponding MC. (is it possible? And is it possible to load different flv clips in one FLV Playback?)
2. The user is asked a question, they will have to answer yes or no before they can continue. So if they answer yes, "yes.f4v" will play, no then "no.f4v" will play. Then the corresponding clip will play and the next question will have to appear ONLY after the clip is done playing. How do you check if an f4v is finished playing? Does it matter whether you use FLV or F4V? (I have this one worked, see the code below)
I have made 2 setups:
- Setup 1 is I place an FLV Playback Component in the main timeline and I am planning to load all F4Vs in it when a corresponding button is clicked.
- Setup 2 is I create swf's of all the F4Vs and load the swf in the main timeline on certain frame into a blank MC.

I have my flash document set up in the following way: On the main timeline I have my buttons that I want to play movie clips embedded inside a movie clip on the main timeline.However, when I click each different button, the current movie clip stops playing and then the movie clip corresponding to the button plays.
I want them all to be able to play at once. So for example you push button 1 and the alien plays, but half way through you could click button 2 and the alien clip would keep playing, but also the helicopter clip would begin to play as well.Here is the code I have so far:

Basically when I click the Photo and Graphic sections, none of my MOUSE_DOWN states are working on the MovieClips within... the only one that works is Motion. And for the life of me, I can't seem to spot what's wrong. I've looked over the code a thousand times and seem to hit the same loss of words all over again.
*EDIT* Oh and apparently everything loads fine after you initially click "MOTION" but if you don't click Motion and go Straight to one of the other two sections, it's like a certain movie clip hasn't been initiated or something. Meaning... The buttons within the sections will all work if you Click the Motion Section First. (But only once you've clicked on the Motion Section.)

Should have farmed this job out (may have to, anyone want it?). I have created four movie clips, that work individually. When I put them into the main timeline, they don't play. Here's what I have tried:
* Create one layer, put one clip in the first frame, plays perfectly
* Add second layer, put second clip in the first frame of new layer, all I see when I play the movie is the background on the stage, no clips play
* Deleted layer, added second keyframe to layer with first clip. Put second clip into second frame, same result, all I see upon playing is the stage What I am trying to accomplish is to have these four movie clips (basically slides of info) play one after the other and then loop back and start over. What am I missing?

I am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.

I just recently tried getting the hand of understanding AS3 from AS3. I am finding it a bit of a struggle to try and understand using random.math.I am trying to use random.math to make each movieclip play randomly and then stop. I tried looking for online tutorials but I only seem to get information of creating a random math number which I don't want.I am not sure I am meant to use a timer or to use random.math function. On my main timeline, I have a "Background" graphic object with some control buttons, on the main timeline there may (or may not) be a few other movie clips playing at any given point.
I want the pause button (in the Background object) to figure out what all movie clips are playing from the _root down, and stop them all. I am currently doing this by putting in the code: mc1.stop(); mc2.stop(); mc3.stop(); etc...

I have a main movie called home.fla. In this movie I only have one frame and I have place 5 different movie clips (not SWF) on this frame at different positions but on the same layer. These five movie clips are named mc_main1, c_main2.Each of these movie clips contains 5 frames, with a button on each frame. Each of these buttons also has a movie clip inside them (mc_sub1 mc_sub5). You can only go from frame 1 to frame 2 of each clip (main1, main2 etc.) my clicking on the button on frame1.The user can go to any of the main movie clips in whichever sequence they want. For example, they can choose to go to clip main3 and click on it twice (this will take the user till frame 3 of main3 and play the movie clip that is inside frame3) and then they can decide to click on main1 once and then main4 three times until they have visited all the parts of (all the 25 mc_sub) all the movie clips (main1 main5).
Once the user has visited all the 25 mc_sub i.e. once they have finished going thru all the 5 main movie clips completely, I want to display an animation (mc_animation) on the frame1 or any other frame of the home.fla movie.Is there away to determine if the user has finished watching all the 25 mc_sub i.e. if the user has gone thru each and every frame of each of the mc_main movieclips.I think the problem is that since the user can select any of the mc_main clips in any sequence, I am finding it difficult to determine when they have finished going through everything. If it was all in a sequence then I know I could have calculated if the current frame is equal to total frames and then I would have displayed the animation if the above was true; but that is not the case here.

I am trying to figure out how to reference something thatappears later in the timeline with Actionscript on the firstkeyframe without receiving run time errors such as "undefined", or"null references". Trying to define the objects using references(ie. var myMC:MovieClip) doesn't seem to cut it. Short of placingitems on the first keyframe and then pushing them off the stage outof view, I have yet to find an elegant solution for this

I am very new to Action Script 3.0.My experience has been with 2.0 creating Movie Clips and using the timeline. My concern is after several days of trying to understand why my button was appearing as a null object.
My main timeline has 20 frames. There is a stop action on Frame 14.On frame 14 is where I've a button to advance the viewer to frame 15. This is where my trouble starts. After advancing the viewer 1 frame to frame 15, there are 3 buttons.
1)First question is in order for my buttons to work - they must be on the main timeline and not nested in a Movie Clip (correct)? 2)Second question is because I am trying to implement good Action Script practices, I've put all m y code on one frame.(Frame 14)
Unfortunately, this is where I kept getting an error about "Null Object". My 'problem-' button comes 1 frame after the Action Script.The work around for me was to insert a keyframe with the problem button and move the button off the stage.
I would like to try and get in the habit of using AS 3.0 to call Flash Objects to the stage, but it just doesn't seem to be working. Are the methods of using "Package", import Flash -"Movie Clip" or "Sprite" the preferred? Or should I just stick with my very simple way of working? I am afraid it will cause problems down the road and cause unncesassary load times becasue I've got everything on the stage - even when not needed. But, this seems to be the only way my movies work.

I have been digging around the AS 2 forum for some guidance on using the onEnterFrame function. It seems that in general, it is not a good idea to use a frame number (or numbers)for running tweens.I would like to use onEnterFrame (unless it would be a bad practice) to tween letters (the letters are movieclips).[code]I am attaching the movieclips to the stage at different levels.I have no frames set in the timeline (like a keyframe at 1, and a keyframe at 91).When this function runs it never gets out of frame 1.If I put keyframes on the timeline from 1 to 90, then it plays.Is there a way to not have to create a timeline in the editor with a 90 frame span??

I have five moive clips in the main timeline starting from the first keyframe: intro, mc2, mc3, mc4, and mc5. I want to have a "previous" and "next" button on each frame (a different layer) to be able to go to a previous or next movie clip in the timeline.when I clicked "test moive" (without any ActionScripts), it always skipped the movie clip in the first keyframe and sometimes it did so to the second keyframed too.
