Professional :: Playing Multiple Movie Clips One After Other On Main Timeline?
Apr 23, 2010
Excuse the probably simple question but I'm just starting off with Flash.I have imported a few video trailers directly into flash and saved them as movie clips. I want to be able to insert these movie clips onto the main timeline and play them one after the other, repeating once they have all played. On the main timeline I have set a layer for each clip and a keyframe where the clip is inserted for each layer. When I go to play the flash file, it is showing the first frame from each movie file and then moving to the first frame of the next movie file. What do I need to do to make flash play the entire movie file in that specific frame before moving to the next frame where the next movie file is and playing all that movie?
I've created six movie clips of cursive text effect using masking for the animation. Each clip is approximately 160 frames long. I need to play these sequentially, one after the other, when the page loads. structure multiple clips to play after each other?
boards and even newer to ActionScripting and FlashWhat I would like to do is play random movie clips on my main timeline. I've tried using the below code, but it does not work:
Code: var movieList:Array = new Array(mc1, mc2); var i:int = Math.round(Math.random() * movieList.length);
I'm trying to make a flash website that has clickable buttons that will play different movie clips. But I dont know how to make it to just play the movie clip with the button you click without playing all the movie clips on the main timeline.
I'm trying to play different animations using buttons using the below code but I keep getting an error. Totally new to flash but I'm sure it's something really simple
function goHome(event:MouseEvent):void { home_animation.play(); } home_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, goHome); function goIntro(event:MouseEvent):void { intro_animation.play(); }
So I have been trying to figure out a way to control multiple clips using the same "on press" & "on release" statements located on 1st frame of main timeline. A variable is being set to a value that correlates to the name of each movie clip as an interaction occurs.Ex: user clicks from a selection of buttons & depending on the button clicked it sets clipNum = "1" through "21".What I want is to have something like the following code that will give the user the ability to click and drag the clip with code on the main timeline similar to the following:
I have a movie clip on my timeline and it has maybe 60 frames in it. There's enough space for it to play and loop, and when I press ctrl enter to preview it, it plays as expected. However, as I scrub through my animation, the only things that play are the motion tweens I made. The movie clip just stays stuck on the first frame. I was curious so I exported it as is right now and it goes through the frames correctly there too. However, this is fustrating because I want to see the movie clip cycle through it's frames when I scrub through my timeline!
I'm trying to create a flash banner with several nested movie clips within it. I want each movie to run one after the other (not at the same time) but the top layer just keeps dominating (but not even working) even though I've added it's movie further down the main timeline. Before dragging on the second movie I inserted a keyframe.[code]...
I'm working on a campaign website and I need to catch the deadline by tomorrow! I'm stuck. I hope somebody here could help me. Here's how I want to do it:Everything will happen in the main timeline / main Stage.
1. I have F4V clips that I want to load into the FLV Playback, placed in the main timeline (stage), every time the corresponding buttons are clicked. The buttons with questions and their actions are each placed in their corresponding MC. (is it possible? And is it possible to load different flv clips in one FLV Playback?)
2. The user is asked a question, they will have to answer yes or no before they can continue. So if they answer yes, "yes.f4v" will play, no then "no.f4v" will play. Then the corresponding clip will play and the next question will have to appear ONLY after the clip is done playing. How do you check if an f4v is finished playing? Does it matter whether you use FLV or F4V? (I have this one worked, see the code below)
I have made 2 setups:
- Setup 1 is I place an FLV Playback Component in the main timeline and I am planning to load all F4Vs in it when a corresponding button is clicked.
- Setup 2 is I create swf's of all the F4Vs and load the swf in the main timeline on certain frame into a blank MC.
I'm making a movie w/ no interactivity and I want to put a series of movie clips on the main time line, each to play after the previous movie clip is done. The only way I can make it work is to put the movie clips in keyframes and then allow all all the frames for the movie to play. My movie is way too long and I know there has to be a better way! I'm trying to figure out the action to assign to the keyframe that will play the movie clip within that one frame and when it's done, go on to the next movie clip.
I have my flash document set up in the following way: On the main timeline I have my buttons that I want to play movie clips embedded inside a movie clip on the main timeline.However, when I click each different button, the current movie clip stops playing and then the movie clip corresponding to the button plays.
I want them all to be able to play at once. So for example you push button 1 and the alien plays, but half way through you could click button 2 and the alien clip would keep playing, but also the helicopter clip would begin to play as well.Here is the code I have so far:
building_btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, alien); building_btn2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, helicopter); function helicopter(e:MouseEvent):void {[code]......
Is it possible to have an instance of a movie clip symbol which has its own timeline "play" when you scrub the main timeline?You can do this with graphic symbols, but so far I've had no luck doing this with movie clips.See, I have a movie clip -- several actually -- with their own timelines which I want to place in the main timeline.When I scrub the main timeline I'd like to see them scrub as well, instead of simply seeing the first frame of the movie clip.I basically have to work blind like this.
What I'm trying to do is basically have several "slides" which are animated and then have a stop();. They'll sit there for a second and then the entire animation, or slide (movie clip) will move off the stage. I can't do this now. When I scrub the main timeline I can't tell what's happening in the movie clip. I can't tell when I can slide it off the stage.I tried to get around this by using graphic symbols with their own timeline, but adding a stop(); doesn't work in them.
Ive been having problems getting buttons within a movie clip to control the main timeline and switch scenes. Ive tried everything from _root.gotoAndPlay to with(_parent) and such.
The movie clip is an actionscript movie which calls images from an external XML file and shows them as a slideshow. What i need to do is after the last image plays, stop the movie and move the main timeline to the next scene of the main movie. Everything logical in my brain is not working, and it may be that I have been staring at this project for too long but for the life of me i can't make this work.
how do you locate where a movie clip resides if you don't see it in the timeline!? I was handed a Flash file in which there is a movie clip of an antimated button (lets call it button A) that I must swap out with another button (button B), but in order to do that I have to find the instance in which button A is used in the banner animation.
Its been difficult since there are multiple layers and scrubbing through the animation doesn't even show when the instances of the button A reside! The only time I see it, is when I export it. Other than that, I have to scrub through and click on every layer and take a shot in the dark by locating the little movie clip circle - which 9 times out of 10 is not the one I was looking for.
Basically I have a flash website built on different frames of the timeline, the simplest way I think.Some of these frames have movie clips embedded into them using the flv playback component class.The problem I have is the following, the site works fine and videos play fine, but whenever I navigate offa part of the website to another, from a frame to another - the sound of the clips that were playing keepsplaying on the background and never stop and it keeps building up every time I navigate of.f each page.I want to remark that I believe is not only the sound that keeps playing "invisible" but the whole clip butThis is the AS code for my buttons on an example frame, would you be so kind to tell me what I should add or change
So I used flash for some relatively extensive movies back in the MX days, but haven't done much with it since. I'm trying to build a relatively simple movie now in the newest version of the software, but I'm having some trouble.I want to create various smaller movie clips with animations in them, then drop them into the main timeline and have them animate automatically when the playhead hits them. However, when I view the movie (or test it) all I get is the first frame, they don't animate.Did I set up the document wrong or something, or is this something basic I missed in the newer versions? Is there a better way to structure this?
the rollover event fires, but the alpha reduction does not. I replaced the alpha = 50, with a trace statement, and was successful, plus I get the hand when I roll over the movie clip, so I know that the event is registering. However, when I place the same code directly on the instance, it works fine. I thought the only difference between placing code on the timeline and directly on an instance was a matter of convention, and that timeline code is generally a better practice.
I usually use this code to navigate the timeline from buttons:
function onProdAClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {gotoAndPlay("prod1"); } prodA_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onProdAClick);
How would I code navigation if the button is nested in two MC's? I've been using the code below. It works fine for one button but once I try to code the second button (which is on the same frame and in the same MC's) it gives me this error: 1151: A conflict exists with definition _root in namespace internal. Warning: 3596: Duplicate variable definition.
my main timeline i have an intro, then a main menu. from that main menu it goes to a movie clip, i want to create a 'back to main menu' button inside the movieclip that will return to a certain frame in the main timeline.
The entire .fla animation consists of nothing but two really long movie clips. Which are placed on frames 1 and 2 of the main timeline. Now for reasons that are too deep for me to go into explaination about my boss is telling me that I have to have everything main timeline -no movie clips. I've tried copypasting all of the frames but they all paste wayyy to large on the main timeline and they wind up in different places on the stage.
How can I move all of the frames from my two movie clips onto the main timeline without everything breaking? Better yet - is there any way to just convert a movie clip into an .fla?
I have multiple movie clips on stage (all in separate layers, of course) as well as buttons on stage to play each movie clip. There are buttons inside each movie clip. The problem is that the buttons inside the top layered movie clip work, but the others in the movie clips below don't.
What I would like to do is play ramdom movie clips on my main time line. I've tried using the below code, but it does not work:
Code: var frameList:Array = [1, 2]; var i:int = Math.random() * frameList.length; "mc" + frameList[i].gotoAndPlay(1);
My movie clips are named "mc1, mc2" etc. I've got them on a layer named "BG" and each movie clip is in a key frame. The ActionScript is on a seperate layer named "AS".
I cannot seem to find anything of what I need from google.(Well, I can find the reverse method to what i need ) Basically I wish to access a variable declared in the Root Timeline from my Movie clips timeline.
I am in the learning process. Working with FlashCS5 and AS3. if the issue appears to be too simple for you. Placed a movieclip(mcassessJohn) on the main timeline and moved to the frame labelled "johnFeedback" in the movieclip timeline using the following actionscript code.
i just started learning to work with actionscript so im not that good.i have 5 movieclips on the bottom on the site im trying to make.i want them to blink in order first clip to th eother.so when the first one is done blinking i want the other one to do so, and so on untill they are all done this is the code i got for strobe like effect, but im not sure how to use it with multiple clips so they dont all do that effect at the same time.[code]
