I have a bunch of letters which I am going to hang off a tree branch or some fixed bar, with string.A gentle breeze will blow against them causing them to rock (and therefore rotate) gently at different rates according to how heavy each letter is and how long the string is.
I'm hoping there is a way to assign a weight to each letter and just introduce a wind vector.f there is no easy way to do this, do I have to make movie clips for each letter and calculate for myself how much movement there will be for each letter?
I've got a grass animation, where the blades are blowing around in the wind. This works exactly as planned. But I've now got to bring flowers in to the mix and need to adapt the actionscript to have an effect on a shape/movie clip. I've tried to adapt it as best I can, but my coding skills are ropey at best and I'm having no luck at all.
I know it sounds silly. But I was cruising here a while ago and I saw a script someone helped someone out with (I think it was Ilyas or Sen). What it did was simulate leaves blowing in the wind. I have use for such a script if someone knows in what post that was in (I have been searching).

I am trying to animate a string.Basically what it does is shoot straight up at a random angle, the other end is attached to a point, and when it's done, the free end that's up in the air will fall down with gravity and do a bend/curve in the wind as if it were free falling down with gravity.
With Keith Peter's "Actionscript 3.0 Animation" book it's dead easy to make one that oscillates smoothly between two fixed values but I need one that varies it's oscillation randomly (within reason of course). Imagine the teeth of a saw, up-down-up-down-up-down, very dull. What I want is more like a range of mountains, the same smooth change in height but less regular.
At the bottom I have some leaves there. I want to make a couple different size leaves like that and make them go from left to right at random paths and have it loop. I don't know much about actionscript but is there a way to do this without having to make a bunch of guide paths and doing lots of tweens and rotations?
I have a pendulum that swings infinitely. I'd like to set the maximum angle to a random amount to give it a sort of "blown by a random wind" effect. I'm not great at code, so I can't figure out how to randomize "maxAngle" without making the animation jerky. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Here is my code and FLA...
This is my problem:1. I group a drawing or I create an object (movie clip, graphic,button...)2. I double click the object/group on scene to edit.3. I go in to the group.4. I go back to the scene by double clicking somewhere empty.5. And object is gone. It's invisible. I can only bring it back by clicking on something NOT GROUPED on scene, or by clicking the red line on the timeline.Note: This problem seems to be not occuring when I go back to the scene via the blue arrow icon pointing left at the top or by clicking the scene name.
In Flash CS5, none of the align buttons work (in the align tab, in modify > align, or with ctrl + alt shortcuts). Right now I have to take the stage width and object width and put in the x and y coordinates manually to align objects.
Are BitmapData objects automatically GPU accelerated for rendering, rotating, and scaling,or does the bitmap they connect to need to have cacheAsBitmap set to true?
i'm not quite sure which forum to use, so therefore I post this discussion here. I want to animate an object that is turning 360 degrees around.
[Code]...
It does'nt need any navigation like this example, but it's going to just an animationmovie. This animation is going to be viewed on a widescreen tv. How do I make the animation fit the screen? I'm not sure which resolution the animation must be. I guess this has to match the resolution of the tv. But is it just as simple as changing the flash file settings in 1920 x 1080?
How can I implement this? I tried to use: (this.numChildren - 1)But it doesn't work. I want to use this code because I have 8 boxes, each are 100px X 100px. You hover each box and they flip over but the "backside" of these cards are larger in both length and width than the front. When they flip over they overlap the neighbouring card. I'm looking for some sort of script so that I can tell each card to align itself above the other cards on the stage.
the first thing I am doing is to draw a shape. Object Drawing is selected. I have clicked the rectangle shape tool, have selected a color and fill. I drag across the stage and a rectangular line appears, but when I let off the keys, it dissapears. No shape, no stroke, no fill.Invisible, gone, disappeared. What the heck am I doing wrong?
Is it possible to use 3D objects created in 3D Max, Blendor, iClone etc. to perform animation to make Flash Movie more realistic? Can I make nice animations like in iClone 4 Software? If it is possible to use 3D Objects in Flash
I am preparing a navigation (using panning) movie in Flash. There is very big (6000x4000) image (area photo from top) on the stage and it's position moves once user moves his mouse. Thus, user can navigate on the area. But flash really drives me insane while working on this movie. It usually suddenly stops and quits with error.I'd like to ask what can i do? should i use a different method???It seems, Adobe becomes stupid on large files and there are bugs in somewhere Flash. For example; how can i use a method like Google Maps (it loads an another image when you move another position. Not loads all images together and doesnt consumpt large amount of resources.)?
when drawing an object and using that objetc to mask another layer im having trouble making more than one object act as the mask. Eg I draw a circle and use the mask function to mask an image, works fine, then i draw some more geometry (in the same layer) and it will not mask as the first object did. Is there any way I can 'Join' them togeter to act as one big mask?
Rather than change existing XML data, how do I add completely new data? ie, if the above var held two "mediaFile" lines of XML, how do I add or insert a third?
I'm taking a snapshot from a webcam and adding a frame around this snapshot.I add the snapshot before to load the frame from a file. How can I swap between those objects? because the frame appears at last and the snapshot appears infront. I wanna swap those in the way that the snapshot appears at last and then the frame.
I'd like to import 3D objects into Flash, so that people can interactively click + drag to spin them. Example: [URL] The first images at the top. - o 8 o - * - o 8 o - Are there ways to accomplish this, other than buying "freespin 3d"?
I increased the size of my stage to 1280 x 1024 and now objects on the periphery have disappeared. When I zoom in they appear, but when I zoom out or export the movie the objects in the center are there but the objects around the edge do not appear. If I add an object and drag it to the edge I can watch it disappear as I am dragging it, but when I zoom in it is there. I have no masks and I need to create the video at the higher resolution, so I cannot resize the stage smaller.
I have an idea for a web site image in which a 3d object moves across a background, turning as it moves and thereby demonstrating its 3d nature. Obviously, Flash supports design of the static background and the motion of the object. But can Flash construct that 3d object with the complexity of say for example Autodesk? If not, and I have to construct the object with a 3d design application, what 3d file formats does Flash support?
I am expirimenting with Flash Web Sites, and I would like suggestions as to a starting point for my project, and I am assuming a Flash website is where I would start.Basically, If I were to open up a web page, I would like to see multiple animated objects. For example, if I were to simulate an Emergency Room, I would have an EKG displaying a heart rate, then perhaps see a breathing maching apparatus moving up and down, a Drip bag (sorry, don't know the real term), dripping into a patient's tube. And of course, if I were to roll over an object it would animate, and if clicked on more animation or on to another page.
I tried creating the animated objects in Fireworks, and I thought I could combine various Firworks files into one, but it didn't work (too many frames), either becasue I lack the knowlege of how to do this or simply it cannot be done that way in Fireworks. I had a background with one animated flashing object (that was easy), but combining multiple independent objects, I could not figure it out.
Someone suggested that I would have to use Action Scripts, which made me realize, I don't know the best way to accomplish my example above, and although I know I may be over my head, I would just like to get direction as to where I should begin.
Should it all be in Flash in the first place? To continue on with the example above, after a user clicks on the rollover image, a girney comes rolling in and we are giving choices on a monitor with what our next actions should be, which would take us into another page. (this is just to give you perpective of what I am trying to accomplish).
Should I create independent animated objects (files) in Fireworks, then somehow import them into their specified location in Flash.
ive made a project of equalizers playing going up and down as e.q do.when i export the swf file its plays perfect but when i import it into after fx the e.q are static there is no motion.just the objects that are not masked are animating.
I have a question about a library one would create inside a Flash document. I have a bunch of pieces of graphics objects inside a library for a FLA file. I then drag these pieces onto stage to build a more complex object. I then select all those pieces and group them and convert this new object into a movie clip. From there I move it into the library for that FLA file. I notice there is both a graphic for this object plus the movie clip for that object. To me these are 2 separate objects. So when I delete the graphic of the object, it also deletes the movie clip I created of the object.
