Greetings. I am working on a website that uses flash for everything. There is little HTML ... anyway, since it is such a massive main file, the client requires a preloader. I searched for some code and inserted it. It seems to be working fine. The only weirdness is, i can't get the "Loading Module" animation and the dynamic text box used to show loading status to show up on the stage. Instead what appears there is some kind of bizzarre animation that just uses little circles as an animation. Sounds crazy i know, but you can see it at the following link.
I have a Flash app that shows a map with different regions colored depending on values in an external xml file. I also have a simple preloader that I want to appear until all the elements of the app are ready to be displayed. However, when I use the preloader, the results are the same as if I hadn't use it. My map comes up immediately with no colors, there is a pause, and then the colors come in (as calculated from the data in my xml file). Do I have to have code in my xml loader that tells the user what percent of the file is loaded?
I'm building a simple flash webpage using as3 in order to get accustomed to it. I've got some code for a preloader which, the end result works fine,but I cannot get the preloader assets to update with the loader data.To put it simply, I cannot get the code to update my text field that would display the percent done text.It only shows at 100 when it should go 1, 2, 3, 4...etc.Also I cannot get the bar_mc (just a simple bar graphic) to scale along with the percent loaded.
Code: function handleLoadProgress(e:ProgressEvent):void { while (percentDone < 100) { totalBytes = loaderInfo.bytesTotal;[code]....
Working on my first real project in as 3.0, trying to decide how to best work in a preloader. What I have is a single swf containing some assets, and a target to a main doc class. After loading those assets onto the stage, it runs through a routine to load several other swfs, and then 'does stuff' with them... anyway. got all that working nicely. How, now to best track the loading of the main swf? If I understand it correctly the Loader class is purely for loading external assets. well - what about internal assets?
Got this: ActionScript Code: //A large SWF file can monitor its download by calling this.root.loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, func)
I think it would be called AFTER the whole main.swf has loaded. In AS2.0 i could target _level0 to get information back about the currently loading swf... ActionScript Code: initPercent = (_level0.getBytesLoaded()/_level0.getBytesTotal());
But, again, these are internal assets, not even living in memory yet. As far as I can tell - I need to use a preliminary (separate) swf to load the main.swf. (Like i used to do with AS2) - But if there was a method of targeting internal assets - a 'self loader' that would be cleaner...
I have a Flex application that automatically loads the SWF and it's contents and displays the default progress bar like in all Flex apps. Currently I have a class in the application using a Loader instance to load an external bitmap to be added to the stage/canvas. I'd like to handle the loading of this bitmap in the Flex default preloader and get rid of the Loader instance entirely.
For some weird reason the preloader for my Flex 3.5 application does not show up. The application SWF is around 550KB. Am not using RSLs. From the Activity tab in Safari I see the progress of the SWF loading in the browser. After the SWF is loaded. The preloader comes for a split second, moves from 0 to 100 and goes away.
I want an air application to be able to update the assets it uses, but minimizing the download needed, so only downloading files added since it last updated.I'm thinking this would include a server portion which would zip the needed files based on a version number? Has anyone implemented anything similar / got any thoughts on the best approach to building this sort of system?
I designed a website for a company recently, and had a preloader screen for it.Now that its uploaded,when I visit the website, the browser downloads all the data first before displaying it, alright.But the preloader screen doesnt appear. When I simulate download in the swf, it shows the preloader screen properly.The AS on the 1st frame is something like this:
i m using this code for my progress bar but it does not appear on "simulate download" too, it appears for a moment when it reaches nearby 100% & goto next frame All my script is written on keyframe & no document class.How can i get rid of such an unusual behaviour?
that's it.I checked. The movie clip that swfs are loaded into has instance "Cont" other instances are also ok. photo, bio and design are instances of buttons. Bio loads the swf but the preloader is not showing up. Photo doesn't load the swf and preloader at all ;/
preloader is not showing up until everything is loaded...using AS3 in CS4. the strange thing is that the code is copied verbatim from a working preloader I used in CS3... also AS3... why its not working here... there can't be differences between CS3 and CS4 that are affecting it...?I've tried various things, even hiding all of the content on the first frame with the preloader...
ActionScript Code: stop(); addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, myloading); function myloading(event:Event) {
I have a preloader that is not appearing until the movie has loaded 80% of its size. Until then all I get is a white screen. I have heard that it may have something to do classes and objects being exported/loaded on frame one before the preloader gets placed on screen. I have been into the publish flash settings and changed the Export classes on frame to 2, but it has'nt changed anything. The things I have importing is the caurina Tweener class and an XML file, both of which have been told to come into the movie after frame 1. Any graphics or movieclips are already on the stage after frame 1. All the code is contained within my stage, there are no external .as files.The code for the preloader im using has worked on a previous movie, here it is
I''m using Jumpeye component MCTE V3 for 5 moviclips for 5 various effects using 5 different scnes, my preloader is in 1st frame & the script is as follows
perc = Math.round((_parent.getBytesLoaded()/_parent.getBytesTotal())*100); xperc = perc/100; barlength = 200;
[code]....
now the problem is when i'm publishing the movie preloader starts showing up until 30% was loaded.
I have a swf file which is hardly 200 KBs. I have placed a preloader bar as well as have the script - ifFrameLoaded().Problem is the preloader is not showing till the loaded value is around 90%.Since this file has a bit of actionscript involved (for interactive features) I doubt if that could be a hinderance.
I have created a small game using flash 8. But the preloader is not showing, white screen is there till the game loaded. Once all the bytes got transfered it displays.This code was working previously. Is this is a problem with the current flash player? I have tried with some other preloaders as well. None of them is working. Below is the code.
stop();loadingBar._xscale = 1;var loadingCall:Number = setInterval(preloadSite, 50);function preloadSite():Void { var siteLoaded:Number = _root.getBytesLoaded(); var siteTotal:Number = _root.getBytesTotal(); var percentage:Number =
In an existing Flash (CS5) project NOT utilizing XML in ANY WAY, I imported (copy and pasted) a group of objects from Illustrator (CS5) into the project. When I published the file afterwards I got an XML error:
[Code]....
I even tried importing the whole flash XML package, just to see if it resolved the issue. ( import flash.xml.*; ), needless to say, it didnt. So then I deleted the imported Illustrator group and what do you know.. my Flash file compiled without any issues, no XML errors.. VERY confused.. only thing I can think of is if it has to do with placed images..
Right now I have resorted to importing as bitmap, but I dont like this option
i am loading all thumbs and images in a container on a single frame using action script..but the size of the swf becomes 1.2 mb so i want to add a loader to it. the loader i am trying to add counts the frames but my file has just one frame so the loader doesnot show up..
here is the script of my gallery..and the timeline has just one frame...
I'm very new to flash and have a question for you wizards
I've created a simple slideshow displaying images which are being loaded from a XML file. I wish to have a preloader which displays the % loaded , if possible, while it's preloading the images from the xml file.
I built a game in Flash Professional and pure AS3. Now I wanted to port it to iOS using Air 2.6. I do this by first creating the SWC file from Flash and then I compile and package the game using the command line.This works fine except that I can't use some of the Assets that I created in Flash Professional.For example I have created a MovieClip in Flash Professional that's linked to the class file MainMenu.as. Within this MovieClip there is another MovieClip with the instance name background_mc. I declared the variable name in the AS file but when I run the SWF file the value of background_mc is null. However, when I delete the .as file background_mc can obviously be found.
I had someone create a template site for me that is pretty simple - a single swf that pulls resources from a directory of xml files and assets. In theory, I should be able to update the xml for my site and provide new assets. I know some code and within the xml there are some <font> tags that over ride the swf's formatting or provide and href.
My problem is that I now have to update our logo, which is hard coded into the source .fla file, which I know how to get in and swap out (the guy who did the work is not available). My problem is, when I publish, the new swf with the new logo does not want to read the <font> tags anymore. I have tried everything and I can't crack this. I've narrowed it down to two possibilities:
1. Something in the Publish settings, though I've tried every conceivable variation to no avail. 2. Something in the .as file that defines page template.
I know I need to provide more info but this is a start. I'm working on a Mac (as was the coder) and we were both using CS4.
My client wants to take all the Flash games on their website and put them on a portable device that's not connected to the internet. I need to make sure that the swfs are completely self contained, in that they do not require the internet to load any swfs or other assets. The client does not have any of the fla's, so my plan is to download the swf and decompile it with Sothink, and then search the AS for these methods:
URLRequest loadMovie loadMovieNum
If the search returns results then I'll assume the game is loading something and that game will not be used. The client doesn't want to put any development time into this, so it either goes on the portable as is or not at all.
I'm doing an AS2 project with a parent.swf that loads many child_##.swf's. they each use identical buttons and other library assets.tried using Shared Library concept two different ways:
1 - created library.swf and used assets from it for child swf's ... no problem when child is played by itself, but when parent loads the child's, shared assets do not work,
2- established parent.swf as the 'library', and followed the common steps of Shared Library setup, but shared assets did not work. of course, using class files works, but still I need a central place for the graphics ( I'm avoiding having my classes create graphics via draw methods ).
For the current site I'm working on, I need to display an intro video while other ssets(mostly flv files)load in the background.The issue is the framerate drops from ~30 to about ~1 because of the loading. When the videos loadinto memory, it grows by about 266MB~ and until it's 'written' the framerate drops.Is there any workaround/solution that will allow me to play an intro video while the assets load intomemory ?
Well ok so, I've been looking, and I see similar things, but not really going anywhere. And I also can't make it happen at will, it just happens.But often enough to make it really frustratrating and scary to close a file.It's easy to explain what happens when it happens.I open a file, work on it for a while, during which time I've imported some images or wav files and placed them on the main timeline or movie clip timelines.I can test and save the file often while I'm working and everything seems fine. Eventually I close the file.When I reopen the file, the imported images are all missing from the timelines. It's very odd.All of the edits are still complete.The keyframes where the assets were placed are still where they belong, and the assets are all in the library.So I have to go through to each location and put the image or wav file back in its keyframe where it belongs.So far, it seems like after I go through this exercise once, it doesn't happen again.Here are the only details I can really offer.
Don't know about new files.The files I'm working on originated on a Mac, and they may have gone back and forth between CS4 anc CS5 versions, and finally are going to CS5.5 on a pc.I have seen this problem now in both CS4 and CS5 on both the Mac and the pc.It only seems to affect newly imported assets.Doesn't seem to matter how they're imported.Sometimes I use the menus, sometimes I drag and drop them into the library, sometimes I copy them from other Flash files and paste them into the current one.So far, I'm not sure that his problem has been seen on my own equipment.Just at my contractor location.Because of the things I'm seeing around, I'm beginning to suspect that this could have something to do with these RAID systems these guys usually set up, which I know virtually nothing about. RAID5 on these new machines.But I'm wondering if some caching of something is going on somewhere, and somehow not being saved somewhere else
I'll probably start trying some things like importing assets, saving,closing and re-opening before I do anything, or some such exercises, in an attempt to make it stop happening.Like I said though, it's virtually impossible for me to reproduce.It really seems to be one of those things that just likes to happen out of the blue.Maybe 15 to 20 percent of the time.Probably whenever it'll do the most damage.
[URL] why I can't see at all my swf (bottom of the page) and why is white in IE 7 & 8 . I presume that it has something to do with flash publishing non IE compatible swf.
Not sure if I should be posting here or on the Dreamweaver forum [there's a similar post there], but .. I hope to have some music on my site and have been playing around with various Flash based, XML driven, mp3 players [though I'm a beginner with Flash]. I've got one to look [more or less] as I want it but it doesn't work! It works when previewed within Flash CS4 but not within Dreamweaver. The mp3 [the Josephine Foster song] is there, the XML file is there - I can't think what I've done wrong. Here's the url:[URL]
I have a DateChooser component that is on a masked layer along with TextFields. I can set Character Embedding for the TextFields and they render fine, but the DateChooser does not.
I have a swf with two layer which both show when playing the animation in the flash timeline editor environment but when played in the preview or published one of the layers isn't shown.
