I'm writing a WIndows application that embeds Flash which I would like to control through the Windows buttons - for example start, stop... What tools do I need to do this and where can I get the info on how to make it happen? This is not a web app.

When the application starts up - the mx:HTML is set to a certain size, but can be enlarged if the application is maximized. View 1 RepliesFor some reason I can not get any Flash document to allow buttons to control movie clips. I might have a coding error or something is wrong with my system. I've got an interactive map with the counties of a state as buttons. The buttons control a movie clip that runs info on each county. I have some other variables and things going on and figured that might have something to do with it. So I just created a test file with 1 movie clip and 1 button.
The movie clip has a stop action on frame 1 and frame 5. It is just a box that is different colors per frame.I've tried several methods and I'm not getting a result from anything. This is an AS 2 file.Button has an instance name of btn and the movie clip is mc. There is only 1 frame in the main timeline.First method was adding the script to the button. This didn't work...

Second Method, I placed the actions on frame one of the main timeline.

That didn't work either. I even made a AS 3 file and used a Mouse Event, this didn't work either. I have older files that have the same code and do work, but no new files I create with work. I haven't been working in flash for about 2 years, so I might be missing something due to the rust in my brain.
Thoughts?
Is it possible for flash to access the windows xp system volume controls?I assume flash can't by it's self, but can flash be used to trigger a function in another language that can access and alter the system volume? At least detect if the audio is muted on the system and give the option to turn it on.The flash movie would be embedded in a browser. The content of the movie has audio that is required. We want the user to be able to control the system volume from within the flash movie.

But when I place the sound on a layer and then click the resume button the sound begins again and is echoed?

View 7 RepliesI am trying to launch 2 different JavaScript Centered Pop-Up Windows within a Flash movie. There is a main movie, then 2 other movies that load into the main. The main movie resides in the index page and all of the JavaScript is in the header. I need one pop-up to load an FLV (movie.html) with NO SCROLL BARS......and the other to load a results.php page (results.php) WITH A VERTICAL SCROLL BAR only. I have been referring to the a tutorial on the Kirupa Website [ [URL] ] but I'm not totally clear how to write with the properties in the Java Script to talk to these windows individually.
View 2 RepliesEver since I`ve changed to flash cs4, every windows projector publish I make takes a really long time to open and play an animation.I`ts just very slow. When I created stuff on flash cs3, I had no problems running published projects.

And haven't been able to view any webpage using IE9.0.8112.16421 without all adverst or video screens flashing on and off. I can't make them go away. Also the video screen stays stuck in the top left corner of the screen, making it impossible to see or use anything under it.I uninstalled the Flash and reinstalled it. Still no joy.I tried to find the older - working perfectly - Flash version but can't find or reinstall it.

I have updated my video card and my wacom tablet driver to windows 7 and still no luck. It worked perfectly on vista but i do not want to go back to vista.

Is it right that I need to install "flash lite" if so what version and where can I obtain it as I cant find download link on this site. If not is there any other way I can get these websites to work.
I am using Windows 7 Professional and Flash CS4. I installed the flash player debugger, now I can't get rid of it. It slowed Flash down to a crawl. I ran the uninstall_flash_player found on this site. No effect. Flash is still really slow and still shows a ton of information in the output screen when I compile.

When i launch it, the register screen appears(the one that tells the trial time left) but the flash main window always stays black (or white)and is not responding. I had it working about one week ago and i can't figure out what is the problem .It tried reinstalling couple of times without succes. I need to autorun these when the CD is inserted.If it were a single .exe and if i wanted to load it in windows machine it would be a piece of cake.But I have 2 files, and I wanna load it from a single CD. However playing flash related content always freezes when in full screen mode. This includes if something is playing or if the movie has ended and the player is staying in full screen mode.I have tried on IE8, Firefox and Safari. View 1 RepliesI'm using CS4 to export a basic flash movie with embed tags pre scripted. And the issue is that on some OS systems using Vista or Windows 7 and IE 8 as a primary browser, it appears that IE 8 is not displaying the flash banner completely.... its CROPPING it off... This is very strange because the banner works fine in FireFox, IE7,Opera,Chrome but not I.E.8 on some OS systems...
If you google "Flash not displaying correctly in IE 8" you'll get alot of people with the same issues but no real definate fix...
what i could try? Do i need different flash embed tags? Or is this a user issue?
I've tried downloading the newest Adobe Flash Player 10 on IE8 on my Windows Vista and it's not working.It downloads but when I go back to hulu.com it says I still have to download the latest version. I've tried unistalling and installing it (several times)... I've made sure that Shockwave is enabled under Internet settings... I've also tried unistalling IE8 and reinstalling without the updates... and still nothing.I even tried installing Flash 10 on IE7, still nothing worked.
I have Windows Vista 32 bit and not terribly computer savvy.Hulu works fine when I use Firefox, but it's not working on IE8. I need it to work on IE8 in order to stream video from hulu on our Wii through PlayOn TV.
I am currently having a problem when launching the trial version of flash cs5.5 . The screen that says the timeleft at my trial comes up but the flash cs5.5 screen stays black and is "not responding". About two weeks ago, it worked, so i don't know what is happening. All my other programs work. I tried to reinstall it, to delete the left flash cs5.5 program files after the uninstall and many other things, but it dosen't work.Here is a screen capture of the flash cs5.5 blackscreen. notice that in the frame of the window it tells" not responding".
View 1 RepliesOk the issue I'm having with flash is that the windows on the right side of my flash window do not snap up when I collapse a window. I am attaching a screen shot to better explain this issue.As you can see I have the color panel collapsed up, when I expand this panel and it goes down everything shifts down. however when I collapse it back up a huge gap is left behind in CS5.5 as is displayed in screen shot number 2. In CS4 I never had this problem. I could expand and collapse panels as I saw fit with no problems what so ever. Everytime now that I expand a panel and collapse it, the library or other panels do not move up with the collapsing. This causes a workspace issue. and forces me to drag up the library via the black line that is just above it but below the align panel so that I have better access to my library or properties panel for when I'm working. I find this highly annoying and would like it if there could be a fix produced to make it so this collapsing issue can be fixed and I don't have to waste time dragging up the library/properties panel everytime I need to access stuff in my library when I have a huge list of graphics I'm going through.
