I was wondering if there is a way to have different frame rates in different parts of the same flash animation? I need some parts to be quicker and some to be slower?

Is there a way where I can compile or build different frame rates into the various layers I create using an action script?? I.e. If there are say six layers running in a particular player, each layer should be running at a different frame rate, independent of each other

The problem am facing is am playing multiple media content in multiple layers (masked, so that it appears as if all the layers are playing in the same level) and each media content played in different layers needs to be played at a different frame rate to get a good visual effect!

I am tweening text slowly like a marquee style, and I cant seem to get it smooth (it's stuttering and jerky). I am embedding the font, converting it to a bitmap, turning smoothing on, then using GTween for tweening it. If I use a very high frame rate I can see it gets smoother (I am using 24fps) but it should already be better than it is at 24. However, I would like to apply a higher framerate to this movieclip, how do I do that with AS3?I found this method, but updateAfterEvent() is outdated (only for onMouseMove, etc..) :

In general I would like to learn more dynamic control of individual movieclips, this could be a powerful weapon to have Whats the best technique? (prefer in scripting...)

I'm working on an iPhone game using AS3 and I've got it working pretty well on the iPhone 3G. I intend to compile it with AIR 2.7 (or 3.0 when it drops), but for testing purposes, I do everything on my 3G. Here's the problem,I get a solid consistant 24fps until one of my objects moves offscreen - even partially. If my "character" even goes a few pixels past the edge, frame rates drop tp 9-10 fps. I've had a few people already suggest not allowing anything to move offscreen, but that's not feasible. I've gone through my code to make sure there isn't a programmatic reason this happens, and I've created a seperate project specifically to test this - with no game logic, simply moving an image across the screen, frame rates bottom out once content goes over the screen edge. I've tried using masks, I've tried using scrollRect, I'm using cacheAsBitmap, and there is no scaling, only x,y translation.

Professional :: Preloader In Flash - Animation Freezes After First Frame

I am facing a very peculiar problem while creating a preloader in flash. I have created a flash image gallery entirely in flash as requested. And a preloader. Now when I test my movie in local machine using simulate download feature the preloader works just fine. However when I upload it on the server the first frame of the preloader can be seen and it freezes there nothing happens though after some time the movie loads and rest of the animation then plays fine. I have checked my code it doesn't give any error on compiling. The flash SWF is being inserted in a Joomla driven website. However, that will not be a cause of problem I guess as an old preloader seems to run fine. I am using Flash CS5 Demo. I also tried saving file in CS4 and then publishing it. Still no luck.

I am making a frame by frame animation, where I draw a character, make a new frame and use the onion skin to slightly move my character. Is there a way to make a certain part faster than others? I made a character prepare to kick someone, but since i was doing it frame by frame it looks slow. So instead of taking out frames and making it look choppy, how do I make a certain part faster or increase its FPS? I tried making a new scene and changing its FPS, but that still changes the overall FPS.

I have been using a template from the Adobe Flash Professional CS5 from Media PlaybackSimple Photo Album.I added 15 frames and and used the built in Action and Playback buttons (3 buttons. What i want ot do is make it look like the Controller as seen below.I would like the movie to be able to be controlled frame by frame, go to the beginning etc. just like the controller. I am having a hard time understanding what to do. I have added buttons but when i do it flips out and scrolls through the frame by frame without stopping.

I have a project that involves flash animation- almost movie like. I need some advice on how to do flash animation. I think I'll create the graphics in illustrator. Basically, the storyline is this:

- guy leaves house and walks to car

-starts engine, puts on shades and speeds off

-scenes of downtown chicago (nightlife)

-view license plate

What is the best way to do this? create graphics in illustrator for frame by frame? Should I use after effects? The client doesn't have a high budget so video is out of the question.

I'm trying to make about a minute long animation of two koi fish.

1. Fish slowly swim in frame
2. Fish swim in circle a couple times
3. 4 food pellets drop into water
4. Fish eat them one at a time
5. Fish slowly swim out of frame

I've finished step 2, but now I want to go back and do step 1. I've attatched a picture of my koi and I was wondering if there was any way I could flip the image of them and tween them to make it look like the fish were moving their bodies all in flash.

I have a certain set of motion twains that I've successfuly completed, they constantly loop right now (default), and is saved in the SWF file.I'd like to take that finished looping animation, and insert it within another animation (a) that can be played with a play button, and stopped/resetted with a stop button.How do I insert the completed looping animation into the main animation? And is there something special I have to do in the actionscript of the start and stop buttons so that the "inner" looping animation will start and stop with the "outer" main animation?

Simple, I got that working no problem. But... I need the first animation to go to the last frame in the loop before starting the next animation. I am new to Flash and cannot get an FLA animation to stop on the last frame. I have inserted a blank keyframe with a "stop()" command, but this command stops the animation on a blank white frame (presumably the first frame of the animation).I am working with a rebuilt FLA file (i.e., decompiled SWF file) on the latest version of Flash. In addition to Actionscript, I have tried adjusting the Publish Settings (e.g., unchecking "Loop" and setting the Flash version to 7 or 8) and editing the embed parameters (as suggested in another answer on Stack), however neither of these efforts seems to make a difference.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Convert Frame By Frame To Tween/Nested Animation?

I have an problem whereby I have created a Frame by Frame dancing human figure and now I want to move it across the screen as well as scale it using a Tween.

I have spent quite some time slightly adjusting the upper arms, forearms, hands, legs etc and creating a new keyframe for each movement. All the movements are all in one layer... ie the forearm doesn't have it's own layer etc. I am running the animation at 24fps so there is quite bit going on.

I now realise that I should have created a symbol/movie clip from the first image I created and then scaled and moved the image first before animating it's limbs but I only realized that after hours of work and I would hate to start all over again.

So basically what I have is a dancing human figure in the one spot moving it's arms and legs and I want it to move across the screen and become larger by scaling it using a Tween. I could of course re-edit each keyframe by slightly scaling and the slightly moving the figure but that will take quite some time to get right as there will be a fair bit of trial and error doing it that way.

Flash :: Frame Animation Still Loops Every 2 Seconds, Using SetTimeout Or SetInterval?

I'm using this var timer2 = setTimeout(checkValue2, 2000);

as a frame action in Frame 2, which then triggers checkValue2 which is a piece of function in Frame 1 where all the _global. variables are as well.

clearTimeout(timer2);
gotoAndStop(3); //goto lvl3 - throw
addStage3();

it'd then goto Frame 3, but, the problem is even after clearing, the frame animation still loops every 2 seconds, regardless whether i'm using setTimeout or setInterval. Do you might know of any other way where what I need is, after 2 seconds in Frame 2, it'd then move to Frame 3, which I don't want it to go anywhere yet.
