Actionscript 3 :: Tracing Coordinate Of Clicked Sprite?
Nov 8, 2011
Lets say I want a mouse click event listener to trace (console print) the x coordinate of a sprite clicked. this is what Ive got, which is wrong.
public function field()
{
....
//nodes is an array containing node sprite objects
[Code]....
I believe this.x is referring to the classes property x, however i would like to refer to the single_node object. currently console is outputting 0, regardless of what sprite i click.
var MapBtnArray:Array = []; var MapBtnSprite:Sprite; var i:int;[code].....
I'm using to code above to create several sprite on the stage, but when I click on the sprite, the index of each trace work just fine (output of J is according to the target i click); however MapBtnArray[j].x keep equals to "0".I want the coordinate of the sprite on stage, how come what i get is "0" instead?
I want to detect whether the mouse has been clicked outside of a sprite (ie. a mouse click event anywhere on the screen except the sprite).
The idea is that you click outside an activated sprite to deactivate it. This is how menus and comboboxes function, but I can't see any way of doing it in actionscript.
I have 3 square. smallest square s3 is inside s2. s2 is in side s1. each is 10px larger [code]how can I find the coordinate of child in its parent's coordinate system?
I've got a few spites on stage that are created dynamically and live in an array. I'm rotating images through these sprites and now need to know which image is in a sprite when clicked. My code: loading the images:
I created a class, extended the sprite class, and now in the constructor I am trying to set the Sprite's width and height properties which are inherited from the DisplayObject. However, after I set this.width and this.height, and print the values, I get 0 for both.
What the heck is going on? When I view the livedocs I see that DisplayObject has width and height listed as public properties. I have been able to instantiate a Sprite directly, and set the width and height after it's been instantiated, so I don't get it.
package { import flash.display.*; public class ScrollBar extends Sprite {[code].....
I'm doing a simple rotation on a sprite but there's a weird behavior where the sprite does not rotate around it's top left. I think I'm rotating along the top left of the test class instead of the sprite child. I would like to rotate the rectangle around it's top left corner (kinda like a clock hand). The code is pretty short so I'll let the code + pictures explain my problem:
package { import flash.display.Sprite;
[Code]....
I've read a lot of stuff about rotating around a fixed point, I've tried doing it with movieclips instead of sprites, I even copy pasted a tutorial on rotation and nothing works.
Then the numericStepper is drawn as if it is squished to 20% its normal height. If I pre-set mySprite width and height before adding the numericstepper, the trace output is 0,0 after adding it and it is not displayed at all. Is there some way I can make the sprite only adjust to correctly fit the numericStepper OR resize it afterwards without distorting the numericStepper component?
I have 4 navigation button and like home, about us etc.... And i want to disable home when it is click and cannot clicked it until the user click another button first. means if a visitor is at home page then home navigation is disabled, and all other are active, and when they click at aboutus button then the pages goes to the about us page and the about us button is disabled and other get active. I want this solution in AS3 with oop concept.
I've got about 6 buttons laid out, one on top of the other in a list format. In their normal state the buttons are grey in colour, when I rollover them, the buttons flash and turn to orange. Now, what I need to happen is this: I want the buttons to stay orange once clicked and only roll out back to grey when the user has clicked on another button in the list. I've been told that the best way to do this is via adding a listener, however I am a little unsure as to how to go about this. I've checked the flash help file and have a basic understanding of how listeners work...but can't really wrap my head around applying it to this situation. Perhaps I will need to have all the buttons as separate broadcasters?
I have parent movieclip and in that many different children movieclips
What i want to do is when i CLICK, i want to detect which movieclip it has clicked and call corresponding function (defined by onpress event) of that movieclip.
What does the code look like if I want the user to click two specific buttons then go to a new frame. I've been trying different methods, but I am honestly not brilliant with conditional statements. This is what I've got so far...
about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickAbout); home_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickMain); if (function clickMain(event) && function clickAbout(event))
first i have 2 sprite.. it`s mcproduct sprite and mcproductpane sprite . mcproductpane is a parent of mcproduct sprite.. so inside mcproductpane there a several mcproduct sprite.this is a script of mc prodcut
PHP Code:
[Code]...
The problem is i want to set a button in here(mcproductpane sprite), this button will unload / make dissappear an image that i load using loader class in mcproduct sprite..how can i make this happen?when i want to make a button in mcproductpane sprite which the function of the button it`s to unload/make an image that i load using loader class in mcproduct sprite disappear.
I haven't been able to find a solution that fits my project. I am working on a 50 state map, where I need each state to stay down once clicked, but go up when any other state is clicked. [code]...
Everytime I google this question I see confusing information about masks and blends, none of which seems to directly apply to what I think should be an easy thing... There are three Sprites involved here...the lowest layer sprite is pretty much a background. I want to overlay a translucent Sprite on top of the background and then I want the third, top-most Sprite to act as a hole, so that the area inside the third Sprite is completely transparent, so that the background sprite is completely visible. How would I go about doing this dynamically (i.e. dynamically drawing the masking sprite and hole using the Actionscript graphics calls)?
I am interested in making an animation that would be the equivalent to watching somebody write with a pen. The line tip would start moving and the path that that tip traces would stay on the screen.
I have a document class and a subclass. In the subclass I have a trace. I've done this dozens of times before.I've checked everything and I'm stumped. I can't for the life of me figure out why it's not running a trace.
I checked AS3 settings like usual. The FLA finds the document class but I can't get the subclass to show up.[code]...
I feel a little silly for posting this because it seems like an easy answer and I'm probably overlooking a careless mistake.But I'm trying to push some XML values into an array by looping through them and then trace them out to see the answer and it's not working.[code]
I have a mc with a set of images with fadein fadeout animation. there are two sets namely SetA and SetB with there respective buttons buttonA and ButtonB. Now the mc has two labels corresponding the buttons, when the label is A it should reduce the alpha for ButtonA to 35and vice versa. But the main problem is while tracing the timeline the currentframe remains 1 and does not go any further, so it plays the animation but does not reach the labelB for ButtonB. Is there any way we can trace the timeline keyframes in the mc? Here is the sample code.
I am working with a set of external XML data, and putting it into arrays. I have set up images and text on a page using XML data, which, when clicked on, will populate a popup window with XML data from the same index. For some reason, when I trace the index of the array, it comes up as -1.
I have a masked movieclip which contains nothing but static text inserted from the IDE (not programatically).
In the IDE it states this movieclips height to be 332.25, however when I trace the movieclips _height property it returns 327.3.
This is causing my scrollbar code to mess up as it is not scrolling down far enough. It is also not a one off thing, every block of text I make in the IDE exhibits this behaviour.
I am having a problem parsing xml data, I know how to get it into as3, and that is working pretty well after following a brilliant tutorial on kirupa:[URL] But I am having a problem tracing the data that I want. Seemingly it is connecting to the database and is working in that sense but when I try to trace data I am getting a couple problems. The first is that I need to somehow specify a value of a single item to get the rest of the data. Here is the xml:
