Dec 22, 2009I want to export some of my functions to external so that other people can embed my SWF into their's and invoke the function, how can I achieve that?

I am using a comboBox to do this and want to have a function with arguments as the data in the comboBox item. I've managed to do it and pass arguments but these are running when the comboBox is set up. I only want the function to run when the user presses the submit button. How can I prevent the function from running on set up? Here is my code:

Plus, my movie is taking ages to submit, even though there is nothing on the stage. There are components in the library though. Would this cause it to take about 5 seconds to export to swf?

Flash :: Flex - Export SWC And Access Child
Mar 15, 2010I'm creating an actionscript project in Flex Builder. I succeed to export from Flash a SWC file, and to use it succesfully in Flex. I have a good programming background and Flex looks very simple for me, but I have difficult times in flash. I'm trying to achieve something that might be very simple(not for me of course): I create a simple shape in Flash, convert it to symbol. Then I create a TextField. The I select both the elements and convert them to another symbol, and Export it as a movieclip in swc.
In flex I want to change the value from the textfield. How should I do? I'm trying to do:

May 19, 2010I opened up an old project in Flex Builder 3 which runs on Adobe AIR 1.0. I believe it was originally written in Flex Builder 2. When I try to run the Adobe Air application, nothing happens. When I try to export a release build, I get this error: If I change the main-app.xml file to use the 1.5 version of the namespace, it builds fine. Unfortunately, the clients environment runs on 1.0. Ideas?

Aug 23, 2010I will not be hosting the .swf file and I would like to include images using Flash Builder 4. The images appear in a folder in the exported version and I'm not sure how to "embed" them into the .swf (so that I can deploy the file to sites like Kongregate, etc.)
Seems like it should be simple, but my Google fu is currently poor.
Edit: Note, I would like to continue using the Flex framework, which is what I am using now.

Oct 8, 2010I have an AIR application with two DataGrids that I would like to export to Excel. I've found the as3xls library, but it can only handle one sheet (as per the comments). Ideally, I'd like to export both DataGrids into separate sheets in the same workbook.
The AIR application is running entirely on the user's desktop and doesn't have a connection to any server, so the solution would need to be Flex/AIR only.
Flex :: Workspace Switched - Preference Export Not Working
Nov 18, 2010When I change my workspace I copy my .settings folder to the new .metadata folder:
.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.runtime/
This is so that I can transfer my font and syntax colouring preferences (preferences export doesn't seem to work). When I relaunch the workspace Flash Builder launches as Standard on the splash screen and Premium features are disabled. The problem is obviously related to my .settings folder.
