Html :: Dynamic Flash FLV Player

I am attempting to create a custom FLV player in flash that will allow me to link to an external FLV file in the html object code. This is in order to easily change a video that will appear on a client's index page dynamically. Currently I am using an external player that does exactly what I wish to do (URL...). However the client I'm building the site for requires a custom built player. My abilities in Flash (CS3) are limited but I have scripted in ActionScript and worked in Flash many times before.[code]As I stated, this links to a free third-party player, which is great, but I'd really need to build to my own. I have built a basic player in flash already using the FLVPlayback control, but am unsure on the details of making it dynamic.

I have HTML + CSS text. I need some lib with simple function like "Render String Var conteining HTML" So no external files (like in flash lib called HTMLwraper you just have to play your SWF on top of HTML). dinamic! I give it string it renders It into some conteiner (not as a bitmab but as if it was real HTML dynamically rendered in flash). I have an swf file that references an flv file. Within an html page I have used an object tag to reference the swf file. Having googled found snippets of code such as [code]whichever I use, I get the same result in IE or firefox with flash player 10, page displays but there is an empty area. A right mouse click gives about flash player 10 so something is there. This happens whether I run the html file from the directory or serve it up via a local web server.So what am I doing wrong? I have obviously misunderstood some basic stuff here. I doubt it is security settings in the browser as flash from outside websites works. I changed my intranet settings to aloow unsafe activex (to prompt) and no change.

I have a flashplayer in html page and I want it to stop the auto play function when the page loads and play whenever I click play, and I tried to play with the code and added this: <param name="Autostart" value="0" /> but it's not working. On the other hand, I set the autoplay function for the quicktime player to "false"and it worked.

when we place flash files in our websites, it OFF-COURSE requires flash player on client machines, and prompts to install flash player..is there some php code using which i can check weather there is flash player on the client machine and if not then instead of placingembedding a flash file i place an images over there...cuz in my specific case flash is not that much important... it is just for cosmetics, an animation... which i can replace by a gif or a simple jpeg doesnot matter...

I know this is probably something that is discussed a lot but I cannot find the solution to meet my exact needs. I need to redirect website visitors to an HTML version of my website (or show HTML instead of Flash) when they do not have flash player installed. I need a simple, clean, quick solution because there are about 70,000 letters that went out to customers with the site on them and the client just asked for this behavior this morning, right when the mail is supposed to hit mailboxes today.

Can anyone tell me if I need to use Actionscript 3 code instead of Actionscript 2 code in the following situation: I am running a swf file which is contained in a browser window (all files are contained on a CD and I have a 'trust' file set up to let them play properly). Up until now, I have been using the following Actionscript 2 code to close the browser window (the Actionscript 2 code is on an 'Exit' button within the swf):

This Actionscript 2 code has always worked and still works in Flash player 8 and lower. However, it does nothing when played using Flash player 9. Can anyone tell me if Flash player 9 won't recognize Actionscript 2 code? Is it essential to use ONLY Actionscript 3 code if you are using Flash player 9? I am having the same problem when I try to launch another html page containing a swf (popped up from the swf contained in the main html window).I have the following code on the button to launch the popup html window.It always worked, but suddenly no longer works with Flash player 9.Here is the code I am using:

I have an application that was written with Flash Professional 8/AS2 and it parses XML for rendering dynamic media content. The XML pulls text with HTML markup out of CDATA sections and places them into an html enabled text field. Everything has worked wonderfully until Flash Player 10.
Now, if we use html escape characters for greater than or less than symbols, they are being decoded by the xml parser.
Here's my example CDATA section:
Here <u>we</u> go: This <node> <works>
when I grab its value using nodeValue or toString, the results are different from Flash Player 9 to 10. Here's what I'm getting:

In Flash 10, if I escape the ampersand, it will work, but this doesn't work in 9. for example, the following works in 10:

This all happens before I assign it to a text field. How do I keep the parser from destroying my escaped characters in Flash 10? Do I just need to drop support for Flash Player 9 and go for what works in 10, or is there a solution for both?

I am unable to click on "Allow" button in my Adobe Flash Player Settings panel that pop's up because half of it is hidden behind divs making it "unclickable".I tried setting negative z-indices on the divs that are overlaying it and I also tried giving a prositive z-index to the div holding the Flash Player Settings panel

My flash media player is not playing automatically when my webpage loads. I have changed the settings from 0 to 1 (which should auto start the file), but still does not start the song automatically. This occurs in IE, FF, and Chrome.

I'm trying to brainstorm ideas on a site I'm managing. [URL]. (Once the page loads, click on "The Fixx" menu option). On this page, I have a list of radio shows that this DJ has produced. It's a compilation of songs that he posts up twice a week roughly. Currently the way it's setup... is you can click the button and it opens a pop up window with a player that plays the corresponding file. However... I want to be able to have a window open up that has a playlist of the songs contained in that mixshow in the bottom (Not something they will be able to click on to go to a particular song, just something that tells them what is on this show) and the player at the top. I also would like the capability of dragging through the song so they don't have to listen to the whole thing. Currently it's abit cumbersome, and I know it'll drive more viewers if I add playlist functionality.

I need to create a dynamic movie player in the flash website, i tried Import Video... (File > Import >) , then i put a relative URL of xml file (e.g. xspf.xml) under the "Already deployed on web server..." option. but the video doesn't show nothing at all.

Morning stackers! So my question today isn't dealing with any code, but how to go about this the correct way from the start. I have a video player built to a static size (max: 800x600) which I'll have to re-code every time I need it to be a different size. What I need it to do in the near future is dynamically resize itself and all the elements inside of it based on 1 width variable that it will received either from HTML or XML. Now to me there are 2 ways to go about this:
Start with the smallest size possible and resize upwards, but I'm unsure of how the Flash movie will actually expand upwards as of right now.
Or 2, start with the largest size possible (in this case 800x600) and size everything down. Step 1, I think seems to be the better way to go about this (ala YouTube style), but Step 2 also seems like it could be the easier way? A friend of mine mentioned that I should go with the larger size and have elements resize in each class, then fix to the upper left hand corner. However for the player to fit inside of certain div columns on sites, blogs whatever he said that there will have to be an HTML/CSS side of this... meaning that the div containing the resized flash player will have to cover up the areas of the Flash movie that are not to be shown? Is that possible to put a 800x600 flash movie into a div that smaller then 800 pixels wide? And cover it up with another div?

Does there exist a library / program that can play mp3 files using flash as html5 fallback dynamically? By dynamically, I mean that the player can switch the current mp3 thats playing, even after dom has loaded. The problem I run into with most flash audio players is that they depend on the song being loaded when the dom loads, but my website loads songs through ajax.

ive set out on a quest to make a completly dynamic .mp3 player in flash...
1) load in what mp3s to play from a txt file and put it in an array
2) Display the available mp3s in a drop down box *
3) once a music selection is chosen, show a loading bar of untill it is finished**
4) have play pause stop rewind fastforward functionality ***
5) wasent 4 enough??
* or just make it so u can press buttons to loop thru selection next song , previous song and so on. and current song selection is showed in a dynamic text box, and the play button initiates download
** also gonna try to makit it so that the music file starts playing once enough has been loaded, that it will complete loading the sound before it gets to the point at which it is still loading (but that i think i can handle.. having more troubel with the rest)

When I publish my FLV video using Flash CS3 and the "SkinUnderAll" option...the player controls are not visible unless I change the height & width in the html file Flash created.But, Flash shows the height & width 3-times in the html.
Question-1: Why 3-times? What does each of the 3 Height & Width references do?
Question-2: How should I modify the code to be able to see the entire video and the player controls?
It seems if I change all 3 everything just gets bigger and bigger.
1 - I import it into Flash CS3 on a PC w/XP Pro using... File | Import | Video take all the defaults and choose "Skin Under All" as the player option.
2 - In "Properties" panel at bottom of screen Flash shows the video as 640x480
3 - I then click File | Publish to publish the video. Flash creates all my files for me.

4 - I then put the folder with the files on my website.
5 - The video plays but the player controls are not visible.
6 - I see the Height & Width referenced 3 times in the html file Flash created for me (and none are 640x480, they are 550x400 !)
7 - I try changing the 550x400 to 640x480 in all three places... no good. Even at 1000x1000 the entire player is not visible. Everything just gets larger.
What are each of the 3 references to Height and Width in the html file Flash Creates and which should I change to simply show all the player controls?

I have a website that I'm creating an events page for. The intent is to have the text updated dynamically and the ability to create links in the .txt file that start a gallery in flash in a UILoader. The way I have it right now is that the links open a new page, I need to be able to link to the UILoader and specify a certain gallery to show up.I looked everywhere but I can't seem to understand how to do it. I saw that there was asfucntion but as I saw it's no longer in AC3.Here is the link to the page: go to the events page and you'll see what I currently have. I have the UILoader in there now and it gets the file that I need. But it's missing the point all together of being dynamic.I could create a function that gets triggered by the href but I've tried it and don't seem to make it work. I'm no programmer I'm a designer, so this is a little over my head. I've just cracked the door on AC3 when I started this website last week & I feel that I've came a long way, but there is a whole lot more learning to do .
