I figured that Flash would be the best for the result I'm going for. I am making an Adobe Flash website and part of the website includes a box that is draggable and movable around the screen. So, to keep it simple, how can I make it movable?

View 3 RepliesBasically I want to have a scrollable map ie. you can grab it with your mouse and move it. Exactly the way google maps works (although I'm not terribly concerned about the inertia effect that google maps has). But I also want to have objects on the map, that when the map is moved, they also move, but I can grab them individually also, and move the objects. Obviously when I nest these objects in the background symbol, they lose their independence and therefore can't be moved separately from the map. And I've been having difficulty making the objects follow the map, while maintaining their own position (they just snap to the maps position).

The website consists of 10 static pages, 140KB each (design+images+CSS).JavaScript is being delivered via Google CDN (jQuery, SWFObject) to save bandwidth.We have 20 SWF games, each weights around 500KB to 6MB top.I'm planning to use dynamic compressions and basically any possible method to save bandwidth and resources, but nevertheless I must get a large hosting for possible growing in the future.SQL is nothing special: DB size will be 150MB top and all tables are indexed using fulltext catalogs and non-clustered indexes.

I am trying to make a billboard within a flash website.The billboard is on a wall of the image on the main stage. The billboard has been converted into a movie clip symbol, and within that symbol are several pictures. I want the billboard to transition from one image to the next,then back to the top and start again using the Blinds transition. View 5 RepliesI need to make a flash website for one of my assignments, but whenever Im try and make something, none of my action script is compiled.Ive done up a test file that it 2 frames, with a stop(); function on the first frame, no other action script. I get no errors, however it just continues to loop through all the frames. Here's the .fla:

Another interesting this is I can type gibberish into it and I dont get any compiler errors....its as if it doesnt even look at my actionscript. Even if i purposely put and error in, nothing at all...
It has to be something Im doing when working, as i can open up other files that Ive made in my class and publish them without this problem happening...I can even edit them a bit, but after a short while of editing (im not sure when) then suddenly this problem appears in them.

View 2 RepliesI am new to flash and trying to make a simple flash website video intro in Flash CS5 Pro.I have a flv viedo on the stage, under an image with a trasnparent center.I have the video on the bottom layer, the overlay image on the middle layer, and the top layer is my AS layer (AS3).
The video is currently autoplaying when i export.All i want is for it to open my website in the same window as the intro played when the video ends.I dont need a "skip intro button" or anything.I just want it to play the intro when you go to my site, and then bring up the index page of my site after it plays.

Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary.The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?
