AS3 :: Android - Architect A Tablet App That Only Needs To Connect To A Laptop To Update Content?

I've built apps that connect to a server. But this time a client has asked for an app with no need to connect to a server to update content (images,videos,text). It will be Android tablet to a Windows laptop via USB. It will be for end user no dragging and dropping into specific folders using USB debugging. I was thinking I may need to build an app for the laptop (content manager) and then the app for tablet. Is a framework out there that could jump start this?

I have an as3 built osmf video player swf that we embed on a standard HTML page. When you touch the image the video automatically goes fullscreen and begins playing. Droid and Flash often break after changing back and forth between landscape and portrait while in fullscreen.(by break I mean freeze, where you can hear the video and use the controls, but everything is just a still frozen image, the redrawing fails).Can you lock the fullscreen orientation in html, javascript, or do you have to try to handle it inside the swf?

I gone thorough the adobe flash builder video tutorials and did the same thing to create an application for android device, but when i run the application it is showing Sorry dialog box saying that, The application Test1-debug(process air.Test1.debug) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. I tried many times but it is not working. Initially i thought no Adobe-AIR in my device, but it is there. I am using Reliance 3G Tab. I don't why it is not working, if anybody know this please reply me.
One more thing, i downloaded one APK (which is designed with adobe flash or flex) file from [URL]..and installed on my android device. When i run that application only blank screen is appearing, but in video they shown, it is working. Why it is happening like this?? Is any problem with my tablet ?? or application ?? or adobe AIR not installed properly on device ?? Like this i am getting too many doubts.

I have one PC and one laptop. Both of them are connected by wire to my linksys router and I can copy files between two systems without any problem. I have FMS running on my laptop and I have Flash Live Encoder 3.1 on my PC. I want to use Flash Live Encoder 3.1 to stream live webcam to FMS on my laptop via rtmp://[mylaptop-ip]/live. The ip address here is the address assigned to my laptop by my router. But I keep getting "Problem with Primary Server" error message.

I recently discovered that the MouseEvents in my Flash animations aren't working on touch screen Android tablets. Is there some extra code that I need to add to make this work? There's an example at [URL]. My other issue is more of a web design issue, but the animations are not placed correctly on the webpage.

I am building an Android application using Flex Hero. When I run the application I can package it fine on my mobile and run it on the device, however, as soon as I want to run in debug mode on the device, the device gives me a message like: "Can't connect to debugger (192.168.1.12). Enter IP-address or hostname". The device is connected with a USB to the PC and USB debugging is enabled on the device. I have tried to shut down the computer's firewall, but no result.

I have a movie clip of scrolling pictures that moves by way of the user moving a scroll bar. I want to have a row of the same but much smaller pictures underneath the movie that, when one image is clicked, it will make the movie scroll to that image. I'm not sure how to do this since the images are all housed in the XML for the movie. Is this even possible? Do I add the smaller row of images to the movie? If so, how do I do that? Can I get so that the smaller row of images stays in place?

I have created a few Event and Command classes for use in my Cairngorm projects.For example, I created an class that extends URL... that allows me to set callback functions upon completion or failure of the corresponding Command. To accomplish this, I also had to create a new Class that implements com.adobe.cairngorm.commands.ICommand that I extend for all Commands in my projects.Now, I want to use these two classes across all of my Cairngorm applications. What is the best way to do this? Should I just edit the Cairngorm source for CairngormEvent and ICommandand recompile the Cairngorm MVC (is that even possible)? Or add my two classes to the Cairngorm source and recompile the Cairngorm MVC? Or should I just add them to a shared library?I've chose the third option for now, but this requires that I reference the Cairngorm library in both my library and each project. I am wondering if there is a better practice and what the benefits are.

I have a 100 frame movieclip with a dynamic textbox inside that outputs the current frame. This movieclip gradualy goes from frame 100 - frame 0. Would I need this textbox on 100 frames with code on each or just 1 stretched through the 100 frames? I can get it to say 100, when its on the 100th frame but its doesn't go to 99 98 etc.
I tried:

but that doesnt work.

I have noted this effect being used in many other sites.. And none of them seem to employ flash for making this. Please let me know whether this is just JS or whether its purely a CSS based effect, and probably a place where i can read on how to make this.

I created a newsreader movie that is populated by a textfile. I also created an admin movie to modify the textfile with a bit of PHP. The theory is to update the textfile for the newsreader movie from the admin, making editing the original newsreader.fla unnecessary. However,I would like to update the information without a browser refresh. I thought I might run into some browser cacheing issues when trying to update the data real time, so my idea was to use the localConnection method to update the newsreader with the content that is being saved to the textfile. I thought this would be a workaround for the browser cacheing the old textfile contents. This works fine locally, but when tested from a browser, the localConnection idea doesn't seem to work. In other admin demo's, after the user saves the info, I just provide a link to the textfile to update the browser cache. When refreshing the browser, the content is updated. I would like to find a way to do this in a real time situation. Here is a link to a small tutorial I tried to write using this method. The source files are available on the second page. Why does this work so well locally but not in a web browser?

I have a flash application written in actionscript 2.0 that shows vector architectural maps and works perfectly on common web browsers. There are many interactions with javascript functions called by user events on the webpage, such as zooming to a certain x,y point. This event is usually accomplished via the mouse wheel.
Now I have to make sure that the thing works on tablet pc, in particular the Galaxy Tab. The first thing I have to fix is that, obviously, there is no mouse wheel and the user naturally tries to pinch zoom the flash application, with the result of zooming the entire web browser.
What I need is to listen to the multitouch gesture and, when a pinch zoom event is called, disable the default zooming event and call a javascript/flash function that allows my flash app to zoom only the objects that need to be zoomed: in few words, the browser stays still and only a part of the flash zooms in or out.
I already have working javascript functions to call flash object functions for the zooming purpose, so I just need to connect them to some android things that tell me when the user tries to pinch zoom in and when he tries to pinch zoom out (and possibly the x,y point of zoom).

I'm using a WebView to display a web page which contains some Flash content which basically works pretty well.
The big problem is, that the Flash content seems not to consider the WebView's boundings: The Flash content is displayed even if the WebView is too small to show the complete page and the Flash content is not inside the WebView's boundings. Moreover this Flash content overlays other (native) layout elements that are displayed next to the WebView.To me, it seems, that the Flash content is rendered in (special) z-Layer, that overlays all other layout elements.
Tested with: Android 2.2 and Flash 10.1.Is this a known bug in Adobes Flash player 10.1?

I am trying to deactivate Flash CS3 on my laptop so that I can install and use it it on my desktop machine. All I can find on this subject is the instruction to select "deactivate" from the "help" menu - but the help menu in my version of Flash CS3 doesn'tcontain this option. Is there another way to deactivate Flash?

I have developed a Flash projector to play video files from a DVD. The presentation runs fine on Mac desktops and laptops. Also runs fine on PC desktops but not on some PC laptops. The videos are encoded at 772 Kb/sec. This seems very low for DVD delivery. What is the recommended setting for encoding video for a PC laptop? What other factors could be a factor?

UPDATE: Now I've moved the AMFConnection var declaration to outside the functions in Main, and commented out some trace() commands, and now it gives new errors:

I'm trying to connect to AMFPHP on a server (with Flash AS3), and the swf borks when it reaches the .connect() stage. To make things easier (?) and more reusable (?), I've put all the NetConnection mechanics into a separate class, AMFConnection, which I call from the Main document class like this (details changed):

AMFConnection actually starts the connection and calls the AMFPHP service with the function gogogo(), and here's where the connect() NetConnection function just won't work. Here's the main section of the AMFConncection class

It also fails to display the stage, instead showing the loading dots. I brought my son a mini laptop for xmas that runs Windows CE , some of the websites he wants to go onto require "flash" , but when I try to install flash laptop says its not a valid Windows CE file.
Is it right that I need to install "flash lite" if so what version and where can I obtain it as I cant find download link on this site. If not is there any other way I can get these websites to work.

Why can't I watch youtube videos on my laptop? It's brand new. I can go to the website and the video loads just fine. It starts to play but then shortly after it quits. The monitor flickers and then goes black. I don't think it's the Adobe Flash player.

I've recently picked up the opportunity to develop a simple little application for a company that makes cupcake wedding cakes. They want to be able to take a laptop to a client and sit with them to design the look of the cakes - colour, topping, etc. End result is a saved written preference, along with an image of their design. I've assumed Flash is the best bet for something like this. Although I've dabbled in Flash and have experience in coding, I've yet to pick it up fully. The version I have is Flash MX. I've assumed I could create a movieclip representing a single cake, that is then replicated over the stack of cakes? A simple set of options on a side panel would let the user pick colour, amount, etc. Firstly, will Flash (MX) let me save out a 'screengrab' of the movie as something that could then be saved to, say, a JPG? And I assume that writing the variable choices to something like a text file would be no problem..
