ActionScript 2.0 :: Alpha / White Tint Fade In Then Out To Original State

Need to usually use actionscript to do alpha and tint fade? or Just use the properties tween control? Iheard that using actionscript will be better as it will not lag if the user's computer is slow. Here is to get a better idea what i'm trying to achieve using tweening. [URL]. To Alpha fade in, white tint fade in and then fade out white tint to original state. I know how to script the alpha fade in but I have problem with the tint fade.

I want to fade all the elements of the next state when transitioning from any state.I tried different things but I can't get it to work. And I don't want to manually add transitions for every state.
Something like:

I have a tweened movie which plays on a loop. A click on the image area stops the movie and the image fades nicely from alpha 100 to alpha 0. A second click brings the image back immediately to alpha 100 and the clip continues. I would like the movie image to fade back in from alpha0 to alpha 100 before it re-starts; (the reverse of the fade out). At the moment the re-appearence of the image is a crude jump. So far my ill informed tinkering has not worked.

I simply have one FLVPlayback component in the background and a movieclip on the layer above with an FLVPlayback component inside it. The first FLV component is constantly looping a five-second video. So all I need is for the movieclip containing the second FLV component to load the right file, fade in, and when the video ends, fade out. Absolutely all of that works... apart from the fading in. What I noticed was that my movieclip was fading in correctly, but the FLVPlayback component was empty and transparent until the fade had finished - then it played the clip. I'm just creating a simple navigation bar. When you scroll over a button (in this case "cai_btn") the other buttons drop to the bottom of the screen. But when I try to run this script the items drop to the same place and overlap. They also don't return to the original state, they move in the right direction, just completely off screen. I have the code below and am trying to set up a "reset" button that takes all the buttons back to its "up" state or original state. And I can't seem to get it to work. The last selected button remains in its "down" selected state.
This the code that sets up the buttons' up/down/over/out states:

I've got a function 'onIntroFinished' which starts two tweens (musicPlayerIntro and fullResetBtnIntro). After each tween, an eventlistener is added to that particular tween to see when it's ended, so it can call on another function to start a new tween. The first tweens complete within the 'onIntroFinished' function....however, they don't go on to start the second tween in the 'musicPlayerIntro2' and 'fullResetBtnIntro2' functions? The trace statements are getting called for the second tween functions, so they're getting through to that point, but why aren't the tweens starting? Ocassionally when I test it, the second tweens half work, fading out to 50% alpha, but then stop and stay visible, rather than fully fading out. Is this necessarilly the best way to do a fade In/fade out alpha tween?

I'm making an app with pages set out as classes which extend the MovieClip class.
What I've got are back buttons and different pages which go to the same page, however... If I end up going out of a page and back into a page (specifically one with drawn squares and dynamic text boxes called from a web service), it seems to have kept all of the original information.
So far I've tried killing all of the children with a while loop targeting the index and also using weak event listeners - neither is working!

the problem is that when i click on another link i.e. "Home"...i have an outro that plays.it is a mask that covers all the buttons and creates a wipeout effect. but you'll notice right after you click the link the buttons return to their original opacity. is there a way to have their current opacity stay so that they don't return to original when the wipeout occurs? the code is fairly simple. each rollover button(movie clip) has the following code.

I added a child (addChild(myCllip) ) and then i change properties of other movieClips inside it then i remove it.
My problem is that when i addChild it again i remains the same when i removed it.
Its there a way to reset the to the original state of the movieClip when i addit again?

I'm not sure what is causing this but I have objects that are transparent on the stage till they are called (object.alpha==0). The background image is of a room with fairly bright light.But when the background changes to a dark room the transparent items in front of it have white outlines around them...making the file unusable.

I am trying to modify my personal/work site [URL]. Recently found this great little flash player at flabell - files here: [URL]. The .fla file is included so colours can be customised, I want to lose the green and go with grey tones - I've bumbled about and pretty much changed everything, but I am stuck on one part - if you see the example (link above), and hover over the white rounded box where the play button/pause button is, the white box will fade into a light green. I cannot find how to change this light green anywhere. I've checked other files for a reference to the colour and really cant find anything, the only thing possibly I thought it might be is within project/source/caurina/transitions/properties/ColorShortcuts.as, but I haven't a clue how to change it or what to change..or even if it is within that file.

The title pretty much sums up what I am trying to do: I haven't started digging into using script in Flash yet, still being very much a beginner.
I created a simple file using movie clips nested in buttons so that when I mouseover a letter, it bobs up and down, but I can't work out how to make it return to its original "up" state *smoothly* when the mouse is moved away. If it must involve script please be aware I am a total noob!

I am using Flash 8 - trying to get started by simply fading in/out using Alpha. I totally get on the first layer converting image to movie, inserting key frame and motion tween, selecting clip and changing alphato 0%. Where I am absolutely lost - is when it comes the second, third, fourth and fifth image. I have tried inserting new layers and repeating the steps - but for some reason 2-5 images do not transition like image one.

I want to be able to fade to a colour, rather than alpha as I'm loading movies into a holder, when the alpha fade function is used it shows the surface beneath the holder and I don't want this to happen, so I tried to use a setRgb but it didn't work, how to fade to a colour not to opacity.

accomplish entirely in AS:
on button rollover, the button and title of the page fade in
on button rollout, they both fade out
on button release the MC fades in
on new button release, the last MC fades out
so far i have the following code for button so that on the rollover state, the title loads in a text field:
