ActionScript 2.0 :: Filling A MovieClip With A Small MovieClip And Tiling?

I was hoping to get a little guidance from the AS pro's. I have a movieClip that is 500x500 in one of my movies that I would like to add a tiled background to. This tile will be very simple something like 4x4. I have been reading up on the BitmapData class and figured this would be the best way to get this done and use up the smallest file size.But I am not 100% understand if that is the best solution. Anyone have any thoughts? After reading up on full page flash movies I figured that method should be able to be applied to individual movieClips as well.

I'm making a little coloring "game" for kids. The user selects a image (our originals are flash vectors), use the color picker to choose a color and click on parts of the image to color it as desired. Really simple stuff.
Now I'm trying to implement the program with automatized color filling (the old program requires that each part to be colored have to be a separate movie clip). After much research, I failed to find a method like the floodFill in BitmapData for MovieClips, so I tried to take a snapshot of the image as Bitmap with the BitmapData.draw method and use the floodFill directly.

On the enter frame of my movie I want to take a movie clip in my library and have 3 instances of it move randomly within a small area (~ 50 x 50 pixels). I also want the alpha to change to 0 and back to 100 every couple of seconds. Should I be using duplicateMovieClip or should I use something else? I'm trying to create something similar to how the leaves react on this site [URL].

I am using Flash Professional CS5 and a sequence of small images that I want to convert to a MovieClip to use in actionscript 3. I have a blank actionscript 3 file. I go to Insert -> New Symbol, name it 'blue', set it as a Movieclip and tick 'Export For Actionscript'. Then I press OK. I get the message about creating a new class and click OK. Obviously this creates 'blue' in my library. I then go to File -> Import -> Import To Stage and select my first image of four, 'blue1.png'. It asks if I want to import the sequence of images. I have blue1.png, blue2.png, blue3.png, blu4.png, so I click Yes and the images appear on the timeline, stage and my library. Can I now use the class 'blue' in my main actionscript file? Currently, in my main actionscript file, called BubbleVillage, I have some very simple code:

I think this should be here instead of the Actionscrip area but not sure.I am using a button to have a small popup (which is a MovieClip) appear when the user does a mouse over. I have a LOT of these because it is a list of bullet points. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to do an array. It would cut WAY down on code.Although this is the Flash forum instead of ActionScript My code for one button is:

I have started this animation and I am turning rain drops into movie clips with a small splash animation in the clip. I can just copy and paste them so I won't have to animate each one or do programming. When I test this with the swf file they turn out fine. But when I try to export this into a jpeg/png,or avi the full animation in the movie clip doesn't work. It just shows the first frame. Is there a way to make this work since I would really like the single jgep files or avi since I need to transfer this to other programs. I thought there was a way to do this but I cannot remember or I don't know if they changed it with cs4 XD.

On the stage I have a movieclip (Container, originally 200px width) and inside it with a progressbar movieclip (originally 700px width), scaled with Free Transform Tool to fit the parent container. The width of the container changes run-time while resizing the scene.
In ActionScript I have a function which should set the progress bar width according to a calculated percentage value:

My problem is that the progressBar even at full time (100%) is only at 1/4 of the parent container. I assume that it comes from the symbols original size.
Can I correct this programatically, or I must redesign it with the "designer"?

I've written a simple MovieClip replacement that converts an existing imported MovieClip to a sequence of BitmapData. This removes the requirement for Flash to render vector data in the MovieClip on each frame.
But BitmapData has a huge memory footprint. I've tried converting the BitmapData to a ByteArray and using the compress() method. This results in a significantly smaller memory footprint. But it has proven impractical. For each redraw, I tried uncompressing()'ing the ByteArray, then using SetPixels to blit the data to the screen, then re-compressing() the frame. This works but is terribly slow.
So I was wondering if anybody else has an approach I could try. In Flash, is it possible to compress bitmap data in memory and quickly blit it to the screen?
I wonder how native animated GIFs work in Flash. Does it uncompress them to BitmapData behind the scenes, or is frame decompression done on the fly?

My goal with this actionscript is to create a new movieclip for each top-level XML node and include in the movieclip two separate textfields, an image, extend the movieclips to two row if necessary, rotate each movieclip differently depending its parity and add a hover event based on the movieclips instance name. I have achieved each goal except for the hover bit. The reason I cant access the instance name outside of the for loop is because the instance name only lasts for duration of the loop. i've not tried to do anything odd with eventListeners up until now. i have a movieclip with multiple frames that i use AS to attach a textfield to it. problem is i have a eventlistener for when the mouse rollsover the movieclip to go to frame 3 of the movieclip.

Okay I have a script in which I have added an image to the stage. It is absolute centered. I then have another with is on top but much bigger. I would like the big image to move opposite of my mouse position on the smaller image. ie: cursor is on bottom left corner the bottom left corner of the larger image is in the same spot. And the same thing for any other area.
I have tried many different ways but to no avail. I have done research but no one has been able to give me a solid answer. Anyone know of a way to accomplish this. Keep in mind this it needs to work regardless of the image size.

in a game i am doing i have a class called "player" extending MovieClip.this Player MovieClip has multiple frames with animations in it.for example a MovieClip "Walk-right" on frame 2.this walkcycle clip now contains also some sprites/movieclipsone of these i have to colorize in every frame of the walkcycle according to the players color.how can i achieve this?in as1/as2 i used something like: this.clr.setGRB(_parent._parent.myclr)is there a way or do i have to think differently about the way i have to display the animations?

Im making a movie with a menu that loads movie clips according to which menu is selected simple enough. However, the newly loaded movie clip also needs to allow the user to load another movie into the main movie effectively swapping the first movie clip with the second. This needs to be done without using the main menu.

I'm creating a menu bar that is a movieclip and inside the movieclip consists of the buttons.Now the menu bar is twice as WIDE as what is visible on the stage.The only part you can see is the text 'menu' on a bar.Then when the mouse hits the bar, it flies across the screen to the otherside of the bar where the menu buttons are.Now the menu bar does its animation over 20 frames - the last frame being the frame where the menu buttons are now visible.

How can I get a button inside a movieclip link to a frame in another movieclip on the scene? I tried this code:
