ActionScript 3.0 :: Storing Numbers In Array - SubmitButton?

Nov 25, 2009

I've got this code
ActionScript Code:
package uk.ac.uwe.multimedia.lottery{
/*
There are 3 new MCs
1. The instructions "Click here..."
2. An MC with the 2 text fields myText
3. An MC with the 6 input text fields
*/
import flash.display.*;
[Code] .....

Everything works fine until I click on the 'submitButton'. When I click on it nothing at all happens, even though what I want to happen is for the error messages to appear if there is a problem, or if there isn't a problem I want the numbers to be added to the array.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Get The 255 Smallest Numbers From Large Array?

Oct 8, 2009

I'm trying to get the 255 smallest numbers from an array made up of all the alpha values in a given BitmapData, and storing these numbers in the Alpha array for paletteMap().We all know how to get the smallest/highest number from an array, or to delete repeating numbers or even to average numbers inside an array. I've been tweaking for 2 days with these possibilities but unfortunately I can't find anything satisfactory.

I am trying to convert a string having numbers to an integer.

//15 9's are there
var str:String="999999999999999"
var res:Number = new Number(str);

But it is not able to convert correctly as the the var res now has the value 100000000000000000. I know that the number has 52 bits of memory, then why is it not able to do the conversion?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Storing Large Amounts Of Data?

Aug 20, 2009

how "you" would do it and then deciding my strategy from there.What I'm setting out to do is as follows:I have a UI with about 10 sliders and 10 buttons.I'm using Senoculars Virtual Mouse class to record all of the users interactions into arrays (basically [x,y, action, time, value]) and then after a decided time (say 3 minutes) I play the users interaction back to them.All of that works fine but now the data is not persistent.I would like to be able to store the interaction data somewhere and then a user can log out, log in and view their previously saved interaction.how would you go about saving this data? I was thinking about storing it in a XML file but I'm concerned that the file would wind up being ridiculously huge. If a user drags a slider from left to right just once thats saving [x ,y action, time,value] 42 times.

Actionscript 3 :: Large Numbers As Keys In Dictionaries?

Feb 25, 2012

I am using a Dictionary where the keys are Number objects, but I run into unexpected problems if the keys are large integers.

Here is some example code that inserts two key-value pairs in a Dictionary, one with a small key and one with a large one:

var dictionary:Dictionary = new Dictionary();
var smallNumberKey:Number = 1;
dictionary[smallNumberKey] = "some value";

[Code].....

None of the keys seems to be stored as a Number. Why is that? The first one is stored as an int, which can be converted to a Number. The second one however seems to be stored as a String, which makes no sense to me. What is going on here?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Store Large Numbers Of Values (For RPG)?

May 17, 2011

I have plans to make an RPG that is similar to those on the SNES as far as movement goes- you walk one tile in a direction at a time and if the tile that you are trying to move to has been marked as one that can't be walked on, it stops the character from going there. That means that conventional collision wouldn't quite cut it.

So I decided that I would make it to where every tile will have a specific value (one to say that there is no collision, another to say there is, etc.), and every object will have an X and Y value that changes in relation to the character (because there is scrolling in this project).

The thing is, there will be a lot of objects, and there will be a lot of tiles; this will quickly become an unimaginably huge project if I just go ahead and throw objects in.

So, what would be the most efficient way of storing these values? I was thinking of storing it in an XML file or a class, but I haven't really done it before, so I want to get a second opinion before I try and do so.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Finding The Digit Sum Of Large Numbers?

Dec 7, 2011

How do I find the digit sum of a floating point number?* (Eg Math.pow(10,100)). The correct answer would be 1. I have tried writing two functions, function A does not work for floating point numbers due to it converting numbers to strings, function B does not work for Math.pow(10,100) and other floating point numbers).

Specially: (1 with X zeros) % 10 = not 0, according to flash.

*Alternatively, what method can I use that gives me the last digit of a floating point number, and works for 1 with some number of zeros?

My functions:

private function getDSum(input:Number):Number {
var res:Number = 0;
for(var i = 0; i < input.toString().length+1; i++){

ActionScript 1/2 :: Create A Single Large Bitmap Data At Run Time?

Feb 8, 2010

Requirement: Create single very large bitmap data which contain some 30 PNG images loaded and for each image it should have some text.  Images and text are loaded dynamically (AS2 code. Images are stored in a remote server). The bitmap data display should show 8 images at a time and corresponding text. We can see rest content by scrolling (kinetic scroll is implemented). How can I go for it?Some questions:Is there any limit for size of bitmap data ( As per link there is restriction on the height of the bitmap we can create in AS2 (max value is 2880 which is not enough for some 30 element list If we create individual bitmap data for 30 individual PNG files, we find some jerks in scroll. How can we have smooth scrolling?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Storing Name Of Classes In Array

May 16, 2007

I am doing an AS3 application. In the beginning of my AS file, I need to embed different textures as the following:
Code:
[Embed (source = "./myImage1")]
public var Image1:Class;

I have to embeed n bitmaps. Then I have to create an instance of each oh thease classes.
I want to store the names of thease classes in an array so I will be able to create an instance of a class by accessing the array.

Something like this:
Code:
var arrayOfClasses : Array = new Array();
arrayOfClasses.push(Image1);
arrayOfClasses.push(Image2);
...

Then I want to go through the array and do :
Code:
var variable : Object = new arrayOfClasses[0];
But this dosen't work! How Can I build an array of classes? Is it doable?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Storing Set Of Values In An Array?

Sep 9, 2009

I have 15 sets of x and y values, that should be stored together. I was thinking I could have an array, holding 15 other arrays, each holding the x and y value? Is that a valid way to do this? Also, is there a way to create those arrays holding the x and y, dynamically, so they just get numbered?

MainArray[
subArray[x1, y1];
subArray[x2, y2];

[Code]...

Obviously, above is not correct AS. Is this even a way to do this? Are there other much better ways?

Actionscript 3.0 :: Storing/adding Tweens In An Array?

Jan 30, 2010

So I think I have the hang of adding objects in an array to the stage. Now the next step is creating tweens for those objects and calling the tweens when the objects are added or removed from the stage. I'm not quite sure how to do this, especially since I'm using TweenLite. I guess the first thing I don't know how to do is store the tween in a variable for later use. I've tried something likeCode: Select all (var tween1:TweenLite = TweenLite.to(myClip{x:10, y:50});) But this does not store the tween, it activates it. I want the tween to happen later when I call it.The second part of this would be, once I know how to store tweens in variables, how would I add them to an array? Everything I've tried has been wrong. I tried something like

Code: Select allvar tweenArray:Array = []
tweens[0] = [homeTween, homeTween2];
tweens[1] = [aboutTween, aboutTween2];[code].......

I know you don't use addchild for tweens but I'm not sure what the right command is?
