ActionScript 2.0 :: OnRollOver / RollOut Stops MovieClip Function
Sep 9, 2007
I have a movieclip that has selectable text / scroll bar / other buttons etc - What I would like is to have an onRollOver / RollOut event to call a function on the entire movieclip, however when I do this - The entire movieclip is treated as a button and I cannot select the text nor click the scroll bar / other movieclip buttons within this movieclip. Is there a way to set the onrollover / rollout to execute a function without having the movieclip itself turn into a button / stop functioning?
im trying to do is have a button that shows an animation (created by a duplicateMovieClip function) with onRollOver and stops the animation with onRollOut. It works when i roll over and it stops when i roll out, but then it continues in a loop up to the point where i rolled out (instead of cutting off completely as i would like). Id be extremely grateful if you could tell me where im going wrong.
The problem I am having is, I am creating a flash animation on a movie clip.. When the user rolls over the area, the movie animates, and as they roll out of the area, the movie animates again..This isn't a very big deal but, I dont want the cursor to change from the default.. But the OnRollOver property tells the mouse cursor to flip to a hotlink cursor.. Is there a way to prevent that?
I have 9 movieclips that I would like to when you rollover they zoom in and come to the front and when you rollout they to return to their original positions.I am using as2 and the code that I have is for the swapDepths
I've been doing flash for less than 6 months, and now i encounter a problem, you see I'm more a artist rather that a programmer/coder,im creating a simple rollOver effect and a onRelease where the code loads a external flash swf, most of the time this code works but now it won't even recognize the MCs as buttons,[code]and here's the actual file without the external swfs
I have a movieclip that shows an animation onRollOver and an animation on RollOut but onRelease the animation enlarge itselfs but now when I'll roll out when the animation isn't open (so i didn't release) the animation plays the animation for the minimizing of the animation. Here's my code (I know its a bit amateuristic but I'm not a programmer )
I have a function that states when movieclip1 is dragged and hits a line then it stops the drag, however it seems to stop the entire drag function in the swf on the other movieclips even though they arent called in the function.[code]
I'm trying to create a rollover for a movie clip. On rollover, a line underlines the text,and when it rolls out, the underline reverses. This works fine the first time. The next time you rollover, the animation doesn't work. Then when you move the mouse off the button, a line appears under the text and doesn't go away. Here's my code on the invisible button.
I am trying to figure out how to make a bottom bar similar to the one seen ontions inside the bar- here's what I've got so far:as you can see I have a date/time MC inside the bar_mc which is working fine but whenever I try to have a new rollover/rollout movieclip (or button) inside the bar_mc it won't work/won't show rollover animation.
I'm doing a basic site with frame labels on the main timeline whose name corresponds to the btn names. A simple otoAndPlay(evt.target.name); I have a basic navigation setup of 7 mcs with mouse eventlisteners for CLICK, ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OUT.
Does anyone know a better way to do this so when my mcs are clicked they display the rollover content/art? In essence I'm trying to achieve that when the user clicks a btn it goes to that "page" and the corresponding btn stays highlighted. Pretty standard web navigation technique but I just don't know what the best way to do this in flash is and with how my site is setup.
I have a slideshow made up of about 21 photos and each one is on a different layer and each has a fade in and out transition applied to them. I want to be able to stop the slideshow when a rollover occurs. I've tried various types of code and none of them get close.
How do I do a onRollOver detect without using the onRollOver function? I have a movieclip and when it's rolled over I have it zooming using the AS2 tween function. In that movieclip there's a form with fields, and if I use the onRollOver function on the movieclip to zoom, the whole movieclip becomes a button thus preventing any input into the form fields. Is there an alternative I can use? I tried using hitTest, but it keeps looping itself unlike the onRollOver function that only runs once.
I have a movieClip, which in turn has a nested movieClip. I need each of these to have thier own onRollOver events, the parent movieClip is OK, but the event never fires for the nested movieClip. My code goes something like this:
[Code]...
is output when mcOne is rolled over, as it should, but nothing is output when mcTwo is moused over.
However, with this setup the function hit() is called automatically every time I publish the movie. What's wrong with this? What's the difference between mc.onRelease = function; and mc.onRelease = function()?
In flash 8, I have a movie clip("mc"), and when you roll over it, it runs a script that makes sparks. What I'd like to do is have the script STOP running when you roll out, but I'm not sure how to do this. Can anyone help? Here's the script[code]...
I hacked together a bunch of code I've found throughout the most excellent Kirupa and added a bunch of stuff myself.(Mad props to Scotty and Seniculor (sp?) btw)Everything I added works except the rollover function for multiple MC's that are created when the gallery generates.I want the buttons to continue fading out after rollout.Once you roll in to another MC the rollout function stops.It should work like a "wave" effect when you roll over all the buttons quickly.I've played around with local variables, deleting enterframes, etc. etc. but just can't get anything to work.I only included applicable code so please ignore any extra "}" I may have left in there when I pasted.[code]
I have a movieclip and i put an onRollOver call on it. The problem is the onrollover fires only once when the ouse is on top of the movieclip. In flash, how can i do something equivalent to the onmousemove in javascript?
Is there anyway that I can override a rollOut function if an action is performed?
I have three mouse events: a ROLL_OVER a ROLL_OUT a CLICK
Once the CLICK has taken place I want the movie clip to stop on the last frame. But because I have a ROLL_OUT Event it wants to continue to go back to that event when I roll out of the movie clip.
do I need an "if" statement here to override the rollOut function when I click?
I have a simple scroller that scrolls up or down as the user moves their mouse. The problem is that when you RollOut the scroller keeps moving. I can't figure out how to put a onRollOut function that will stop the scroll upon RollOut.
years.onRollOver = yearsOver; function yearsOver() { this.onEnterFrame = yearsPanel;
So far I have created/hacked about some code for an infinite scrolling menu bar, and am trying to create the rollover and release actions for each menu title. After researching it seemed best that the buttons were made from movies clips as apposed to the 'button' type, but I am not sure if this is the case. The problem I am having is that I am unable to get the Contact movie clip to recognise the onPress or an onRollOver and I am not sure why. The .fla file is available here and this is the code I tried to get it to work.
Code: _root.scrolling_mc._root.menu_mc._root.contact_mc.onPress = function () { if(contact_mc.hitTest(_xmouse, _ymouse, true) ) { trace("Does this button work?!"); }
I also tried: Code: _root.scrolling_mc._root.menu_mc._root.contact_mc.onRollOver = function () { trace("Does this button work?!"); } I understand I am probably on the wrong tracks with the use of _root. but I need to somehow trigger the nested movieclips.
I want a transparent movie clip that displays a tool tip when you roll over it. Beneath that movie clip I have other movie clips that I want to be clickable. Unfortunately having the "onRollOver" event on the top layer movie clip blocks the "onRelease" events of the lower movie clips. If I move the smaller movie clips on top it will work but I have to setup a tool tip for each of them (and it disappears and reappears when I move from one MC to another). I also thought about using the "onMouseMove" event and doing a hit test, but that seems less efficient.
why this will not allow button to be seen, on MouseOver it simply ignores the Actionscript.
Code:
loadThumbnails = function() { /* Select project nodes from each section in main [i] loop */ //trace("------------------"); allProjectData = myXML.childNodes[i].childNodes;
