ActionScript 2.0 :: Timeline: Play Up To A Certain Point?

I have a timeline with 100 frames. It is basically one long animation. I have keyframes on frames 1, 25, 50, and 75.I have 4 different buttons. If the user clicks one, it will go to a specific keyframe. For example, if somebody is on the frame 50 keyframe, and they click on the button that sends them to the keyframe on frame 25, instead of just jumping to frame 25, the animations plays from 50 all they way to the end of the timeline, starts over and stops at 25. ( The animation is a spinning wheel that always spins the same direction if that helps visualize)

They could click on any button, from wherever they are, and the animation will play to the specific keyframe.So, basically a script that says, "play until the playhead reaches a certain frame (or label) then stop. I obviously cannot use a simple 'play', and have a 'stop' at the frame I want, because where the animation needs to stop will always be different.

I have 5 buttons each with an alpha transparency change that works fine and now I want to establish an action on each button that on CLICK will bring up a particular photo in my timeline.

In the Main Timeline I have

Now I have to pass 'this' when instantiating the class so that later I can use DocRoot to get the loaderInfo for FlashVars.Is there any way to not have to pass 'this' and have the external class point to the Main Timeline?

I am very much new to AS3 and Flash and had a problem trying to get my Flash timeline to pause at a specific point if the mouse was over any part of the stage. If the mouse was not or no longer over the stage I wanted the timeline to continue playing where it had left off.

I managed to solve the problem after a few hours and would like to share my first piece of AS3 - it might help someone else who has a similar problem, or you might be able to improve it.

One of may main objectives was to make sure the code cleaned up after itself and left no listeners or timers running.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Sound Controller At Particular Point In Main Timeline

I am trying to use a sound controller in a flash movie to play music and I am using loadMovieNum to load the sound controller movie at a particular point in the main timeline. I get the sound player to load up fine and the sound loads fine when a user presses play, but about a minute through the song the sound starts to play again, overlapping the song that is already playing. This happens with no user interaction...it just takes about a minute. I also noticed that it is only when the sound player is within one of the movies. It doesnt happen when the sound player is all by itself. Is there something in my movie that is making it loop over? What happen to the search that used to be at the bottom of the page?

I have a set of MP3s that I am playing randomly (SoundA = random number in this script below). I created a play, pause, and stop button for the MP3. The play and stop buttons work perfectly, but I am having problems with the pause button... It does stop the MP3 when clicked, but when play is then clicked after pause, it restarts the whole MP3 rather than starting where the MP3 was paused.

Basically the code below has been designed so that a video starts at 52 seconds (rather than the beginning) when you press play. It works good right now, starts where it's supposed to, but I want to change the code so that it autoplays the video starting at 52 seconds. The problem with this though, is that when I try and set it for autoplay, the video starts at the beginning and doesn't wait for it to load to 52 seconds before it autoplays. Any input on the coding? I need it just so that the autoplay doesn't kick in until the video is loaded to the 52 second point

i have an animated title that i would add some blood to roll across the title (as a flash movie clip) and then stop at a certain point - Forever!

This is what i have so far but the blood does not play then stop/pause when the blood reaches the bottom point of the title ( like its meant to) just the end frame of the blood on the title is displayed - no movement can this be done.

I have a scale up and down function that increases or decreases the size of an external loaded image inside a loader. What i am now trying to do and having trouble with is playing certain messages when the scaling reaches a certain point.

For instance when the user uses the 'increaseScale' function and scales 'image_Content' up by 40% its original size then 'warning_msg.visible = true;'

When they increase it by 65% then 'stop_msg.visible = true;'

This will then respond the same way if the user decreases the scale back to 40% and so on.

I cannot work this one out, i have posted the code below and have attached the fla file...

My Original Post:I have been designing a visual presentation in Flash CS5, there are a few movie clips on the stage that are set to play at a certain time/frame. The problem I am having is that I am not familiar with coding/actions. I want to have a play and a pause button so I can pause at any point (not a specified frame) and discuss with the audience. Then I want to be able to click the play button to resume from that point (wherever I paused from). I hope to get help and be able to learn from your answers. I'm working with AS3 and I have two questions. First, to save on having to re-do work, is there a way to simply play the timeline in reverse IE from frame 210 - 200? I've got a page set up to slide in from the right when clicked on, and if you click on the back button, I want the page to slide out to the right again. Figured the easiest way to do this would be to simply reverse the timeline. Just don't know if that's possible in flash.

Secondly I've got it set up in the timeline for a FLVPlayback component to slide in to the center of the stage from the right when its page is clicked on and though this works in the timeline, when I test the movie, it doesn't slide in and if I expand the preview to full screen, the flv and its controls are still on the right side of the stage. how to get the movie to slide in properly?

My  only issue now is that although the SWF plays when I test the movie, it  doesn't play directly on the stage when I press the timeline's Play  button. Is there a way I can get the SWF to play using the Play button? I'd prefer to see the SWF so I can add overlays.

I remember in an older version of flash you could put a gotoAndPlay statement in the last frame of a sequence telling it to go back to the first frame in a sequence, but as I understand it you are not supposed to put script into frames anymore. So is there a way to tell a movie clip to play and repeat just part of its timeline (say a walking sequence) and then have it change to a different sequence later (such as jumping)?ed.

Two questions to which I cannot find the answers:

(1) I would like to be able to "grab" the current frame (as an integer) that the timeline is currently playing as the SWF plays and use it as a variable:Number. Is this possible? Alternately, it could be how many (milli)seconds the swf is into at a given point during playback. Is this possible? I'm trying to create a scrubbable SWF based on current frame that playhead is on relative to frame(1) and frame(last).

(2) Is it possible to have a timeline play in reverse? Example: swf plays until frame 25 where it is told to stop();, then depending on a condition, it either play();'s on to the next stop(); action or playReverse();'s (I know that this doesn't exist) back to the beginning of the SWF at the document's frame rate.

Play A Certain Number Of Frames Then Stop-from Anywhere On The Timeline

Okay, so I've got a happy little movie that shows an atom diagram. Every seven frames shows an electron popping up in the ring around the nucleus. This is all contained in a movie clip. I want a button that when pressed, tells the movie clip with the atom to advance the seven frames ( making an electron pop up ) and then stop. The same button if pressed again, will advance the movie clip an additional seven frames ( thus adding another electron ).

I've looked around quite a bit but haven't found a solution that will work for me. Also, I am working in AS2. (if you're feeling especially helpful, do you also know how to do the same but in reverse? I've found how to play movie clips in reverse, but not for a certain frame interval.)
