View 8 RepliesI'm developing a web app using Flex. This app allows to draw forms in a Canvas (like MSPaint in Windows).Now, I want a new feature on it: an infinite canvas. The user should be able to drag the main Canvas and this should be infinite in X and Y axis. Consecuently, this Canvas should be resized in real time.
Obviously, I don't want to create a Canvas of 1k x 1k pixels with zoom in an specific area to give the feeling of an infinite drawing area.
EDIT:I just read that Flash/Flex Flash/Air supports canvases up to 4056x4056 px, not infinite.
I'm trying to move the mouse and check how many pixels I "walked" by comparing the positions every frame, my idea was doing it with arrays, but I really don't know how to make it.

I found bitmap hit detection but I cannot figure out how to use it (because I have many colors inside the bitmap).

I am now working on a game, that already had all its graphic interface designed and I am doing all the programming. Basically what I have to do is get some movie clips (randomly) from a different scene and print them on another scene in a designated area (but also randomly). I am not sure the best way to explain my problem, so I made a sketch of how the scene should look. [URL] So basically I want to print the movie clips on the black space, as if they were the red squares. But the movie clips are stored in a different scene in the same project. So I want to know two things: how do I get the movie clips from the different scene? And how do I print those movie clips on the specific area?

basically what i would like is the end point to be the start point and the start point the end point.
I have a swf file that loads into my main movie, and within that swf there is a masked image that i would like to scale using zoom in and out buttons and also by using a slider bar.However i cant find any tutorials that will allow me to combine the two.I have used the following code for the buttons. Which seems to work ok but i would like it to be a little smoother. (using speed or some sort of easing??)

but for this code it keeps shrinking my initial object down to 10 pixels by 10 pixels..
I have a movie clip called column1_mc. when I click a button I need to move the movie clip in incremental moves consisting of 30 pixels.
column1_mc._y = 30;
Does not work because that is giving a _y coordinate.For example.I need to make the movie clip jump to _y 300 but make 10x30 pixel incremental jumps. Moving 10 times 30 pixel jumps.
I'm new to AS3 coming over for AS2 and trying to figure out how to code a simple load sequence. I've got two scenes, "Scene 1" and "Scene 2". I've got a MC that is a simple shape tween that loops in the "Scene 1". I'm trying to assign code to this MC that will check to see if frame 40 of Scene 2 is loaded. If it is, gotoAndplay Scene 2 frame 1. If frame 40 of Scene 2 is not loaded, continure to loop the MC unitil it is. Here is the code I've got for the MC in the "Scene 1"

"firstframe" is the frame label for the Frame 1 in Scene 1. This seems more difficult in AS3 than AS2.
How can I check for the presence of something on the stage? I want to disable mouse clicks on the currentTarget while an image is loading, and I'd like to use the presence of a progress bar as the determinant to proceed.

How do I go about verifying the presence of "myButton" from the SuperComponent class, and referencing it? Do I need to use getChildByName( ... ) ?
I have loaded swf with an object 'Page'. A 'Page' object is created and a reference to it is added to an array 'pa'.
I have a 2nd loaded swf that then has a reference to the 'pa' array (I don't think this matters but I mention it just in case)
I want to cycle through the array and determine when I get to a Page object. Where I run into problems is trying to compile the class that does this.

ive made a button in the scene 1 which i have managed to navigate to scene 2 but when i click the button it goes to scene 2 but displays everthing that is in scene 1 in scene 2, how can sort this out so upon the button click in scene 1 it goes to scene 2 and only display content in scene2.

I'm looking for a workaround to the "AdSense does not let you choose only images but no flash" issue. I'm rather a newbie to JS, but is there any way for one script to prevent other scripts embedded in a site from detecting the presence of the flash plugin? Even if it doesn't work with AdSense, it would be nice to know if there's a hack to do this that might work in other settings.By the way, I suppose I wouldn't care if it failed to work on IE or obsolete browser versions.
View 1 Repliesi have a drop down menu am working on and each button tab (although they are not button instances !) when clicked opens up the "drop down" section which you can mouse over to choose another specific button etc - if you mouse out of that drop down area then it pulls back up to the original tab state .. what do i change to the code below to decrease the area that you mouse out of to make the drop down area pull back .....at the moment it at least two inches on the screen below and to the right of boundaries of the drop down box before it pulls up - i want to it pull up as the mouse leaves the boundary box .... hope this makes sense .... there is some part of the actionscipt below that controls this but can work out which bit and how to change it !!! (am guessing the x mouse and y mouse bits - but how to change it ???)

It can get bitmap from the target object, but it seem don't get all the area of the image.
By give the width and height of target object, but the target object in design was applied by Glow Effect, so my question can we get the all view of bitmapdata from a displayobject?
I have a movie clip named circle_mc(see the image on the link below) and a mask object(movie clip) which determines visible area of the circle. User can change the portion which is visible (extend the red area and make it red+blue, gray area is invisible). I need to find proportion of visible area to invisible area (red+blue/gray) so that I can calculate angle.
View 1 RepliesI would like to first add the xml to my flash. Fine I can do this.But I have a number of buttons, where when I click say CW1, i get the information from the XML file with a node of CW1. I have all the xml set up fine.As I have about eight different postcode types.
ST, CW, CH, TF, WV, WS, DE, SK, SY, and each of these may have numbers that follow, i.e ST1, ST2, ST3 and so forth.
So I can only assume that the postal area could be the main nodes, and the numbers inside the child nodes, am I right thus far.o how can i load the area of the xml file into my text area on mouse click, pulling the information relating.

View 1 Repliesso I have some buttons that, as of right now, simply trigger the scene to move on while at the same time killing some particle effect animations I have spawning when the animation is idle. What I now need to do is make these events move on to a specific scene AFTER the rest of the scene's animation has played out (about 400 more frames) I'm figuring that the gotoAndPlay command has to be tied to some sort of timer variable that I would have to figure out based on my fps. Or maybe there is a way to set up a timer directly tied to a certain amount of frames allowed to go by. I'm pretty noob at actionscript, so keep that in mind. Here is the script at the point where the animation pauses to await user input on the buttons:
