ActionScript 2.0 :: Give Duplicate It's Own Functions?

Feb 7, 2010

I have an MC (button1). When it is pressed, it creates a duplicate, which is automatically being dragged. When released, the movie clip stops dragging. I can repeat this process with the original a number of times. However, I want to be able to click and drag the MC's AFTER they've been duplicated. Once I have this code, then I can add other functions myself (like hitTests, removeMovieClip and so on).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Copying Functions To Duplicate A Function Then Use It

May 21, 2011

I'm curious to know if there is any examples you all could give me any examples of copying a function in AS3; then use that copy independent of the original function it copied. I want to make an animation system that heavily depends on one type of function. Since it depends on one type of function, I cant have every single piece of code calling back to the same function if I want to use it multiple times. Is there a way of properly doing this? are their performance consequences? I'd really like to do this instead of writing several different functions out separately that work nearly the same. (plus I need to feed a set of values into those functions that are created, some being called by event listeners of course)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Overriding Timeline Functions - Cannot Duplicate The Presentation

Dec 4, 2009

I don't know if this is the right term "overriding timeline functions"... I'am making presentation wich has 8 navigation buttons..the presentation goes like this...when you press one button it goes to this buttons segment and play's it, when is finished it comes back to navigation by action gotoAndPlay ("menu")...myproblem is the last button...wich says Whole presentation...i cannot duplicate the presentation because it has too much keyframes and max is 16000 (i am not master atFlash )...so i would like somehow to cancel all the gotoAndPlay actions if it is possible?? so when i click the last button (whole presentation)...the playback doesen't jump back to menu...but plays til the end.

ActionScript 2.0 :: When Click The Letter Movieclip It Does Create The Duplicate As It Should And It Starts To Drag The Duplicate Mc

Mar 20, 2010

My problem is that when I click the letter movieclip it does create the duplicate as it should and it starts to drag the duplicate mc. However, when I release the clip it doesn't stop dragging? I realized that if I put onMouseUP event instead of onRelease it actually does stop dragging when I release the mouse. I would, however not like to use the onMouseUP event if possible.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Import Vs Include - Basic Functions To Be In BasicFunctions.as And The Make A Library For More Specific Functions

Jun 6, 2010

I've got a project thats getting a bit big, so Im taking the actionscript out into separate as files. I want all the basic functions to be in BasicFunctions.as and the make a library for more specific functions. I find that a lot of people use the import statement but I cant get that to work with a simple Hello World trace, yet the include statement works fine (see attached). I understand that import/include work differently, but which is the better method? If import, then is that heavier to work with. Any rate, what's the best way to organise code when it gets to the 1000+ lines?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Mimicing The Until Functions - Load Of Global Functions In One File?

Nov 4, 2009

I'm trying to find a way to have global functions in my as project, similar to how flash does with stuff like the util functions (describeType()...), where you can just call the function wherever you need it. For example:

[Code]...

So when I call Test(), it prints out "hello world" fine. My problem comes in that I can't change the name of the Test function, and I can't add any other functions without compiler errors. Is it possible to have a load of global functions in one file, or do I have to split them up into separate files like in the example? Also, I know that I can make a Global class and call static functions like Code: Global.doSomething() but I'd like to know if there's a way to do it as flash does it (describeType(), getDefinitionByName(), etc), or rather, how does flash do it?

Im adding lot of simple functions to prototypes of top level objects ( Object , Array , String ...) and have 2 questions :

Is possible to add functions to top level's classes in compile-time ?

If not , is there a way to allow this functions to compile ? I dont like to turn off strict mode

ex:

string.removeWhiteSpace();
string.sliceStr("." , "end");
textField.scrollBottom();

this return compile-time error , cause there is no such function , i have to write it in braces :

string["removeWhiteSpace"]();
string["sliceStr"]("." , "end");
textField["scrollBottom"]();

and i like to aviod it )

ActionScript 3.0 :: Give Mc's Different Values

Jun 23, 2011

I got a MovieClip which will be a moving platform for a game. And I want to be able to just copy it and place in different places on my game map. But I would also like to give them different values such as, speed, distance to travel, and so on. In As2 I would put all code i needed for the moving platform to work, inside the MoviClip in it's first frame except for the variables, speed and distance which I would put on the MovieClip instead. In a "onClipEvent(load)". Then I could just copy my MovieClip and change those variables. But this do not work in As3 and I wounder if someone knows a good way to do this

I'm builiding a swf that will play on an html web page. It's a "build" where the page starts as blank and the animation "wipes" on in sections. The web page has a gradient background, and the swf will have a soft drop shadow.Is there a way to give the swf a transparent background so we don't have to try to "match" the gradient it will appear on top of.If this isn't clear I can post the swf or fla file.Also, on this subject, what are the "Window" settings in the html publish settings? The options are Window, Transparent Windowless or Opaque Windowless.I've tried these in the past and they don't seem to have any affect at all.

CS3 Give Instance Names Quickly?

Jun 3, 2010

I have 100+ of the same movieclips on the stage at the same time, all positioned differently.i'm getting really tired of clicking on one of them, then clicking in the instance name box then typing "i65", then clicking on one of them, then clicking in the instance name box then typing "i66"...

is there anyway flash can fill this information in for you? or a plugin anyone's heard of? this isn't really an actionscript question, I'm not so fussed about selecting the different movieclips based on getChildAt or any of that stuff, I'd just really like a faster way of assigning instance names.
