ActionScript 2.0 :: Transport Movieclip To Another Movieclip

I'm making a game and I want the character to respawn on a separate movieclip when he dies, but I can't figure out what code to use.
I was thinking of using something like this:
_root.player._x
_root.player._y
but instead of coordinates, I want to use the instance of the movieclip (spawn) so how would I do that?

See below my display list pseudo root.instance178 is a swf loaded w/

it is a transport control for video though the transport buttons work as a stand alone swf when the swf is loaded into the host swf they fail to respond to mouse over or clicks

I'm working on a childrens game (flash as3) in which stories, poems, songs, etc are read to the child. There's a voice recording reading/singing the text, the text highlights as the words are spoken/sung. The child may toggle on and off the voice and word highlighting independantly. The child may also opt to make their own recording. Now said recording works fine. I'm able to capture it from the mic and the child may play it back no problem. The issue lies in that the client wants the child to be able to save this recording to a web server.
I thought I had the issue solved by using a URLRequest and URLLoader object. The mp3 was showing up in the specified folder on the webserver. I played it with a media player and it worked. The child could also load said file no problem. THEN, when I tried it via browser(instead of flash player) I got the dreaded sandbox error. The only way such an operation with said objects can occur in a browser environment is if it's user initiated via a dialogue window. This is children were talking about and we're not saving locally anyway.
The child is provided 3 save slots which they click on (WSprites). Which technically is user initiated, but flash has no way of knowing that. The 3 save slots hold the sounds in memory and only change when the user records or loads. When the user saves, they get sent off to php to save. Now I did try using js as a middleman, but I ended up losing my bytes in the process and my js and php are probly the weakest areas of all my programming skills.

if I go to transport and keep interchanging between the two options the buttons for scrolling or forward keep freezing up after some time...not immediately, I am going nuts trying to solve this can someone tell me where I am going wrong, all the files source, text and html are (in two zipped folders)

I've written a simple MovieClip replacement that converts an existing imported MovieClip to a sequence of BitmapData. This removes the requirement for Flash to render vector data in the MovieClip on each frame.
But BitmapData has a huge memory footprint. I've tried converting the BitmapData to a ByteArray and using the compress() method. This results in a significantly smaller memory footprint. But it has proven impractical. For each redraw, I tried uncompressing()'ing the ByteArray, then using SetPixels to blit the data to the screen, then re-compressing() the frame. This works but is terribly slow.
So I was wondering if anybody else has an approach I could try. In Flash, is it possible to compress bitmap data in memory and quickly blit it to the screen?
I wonder how native animated GIFs work in Flash. Does it uncompress them to BitmapData behind the scenes, or is frame decompression done on the fly?

I have a horizontal scrolling movieclip that scrolls when the mouse is left or right of a certain point of that movieclip. However, it only moves slightly then stops when the cursor goes over it, it doesnt actually scroll normally...

I am trying to activate a rollOver-function when the mouse rolls over a movieclip inside of a movieclip.On the main window (root), first you rollOver a button where a window shows up with more options (movieclips).From stage, my first movieclip is called "catapultas_read_more" which leads to amother movieclip called "pic1_mc". My goal with this actionscript is to create a new movieclip for each top-level XML node and include in the movieclip two separate textfields, an image, extend the movieclips to two row if necessary, rotate each movieclip differently depending its parity and add a hover event based on the movieclips instance name. I have achieved each goal except for the hover bit. The reason I cant access the instance name outside of the for loop is because the instance name only lasts for duration of the loop. i've not tried to do anything odd with eventListeners up until now. i have a movieclip with multiple frames that i use AS to attach a textfield to it. problem is i have a eventlistener for when the mouse rollsover the movieclip to go to frame 3 of the movieclip.

Okay I have a script in which I have added an image to the stage. It is absolute centered. I then have another with is on top but much bigger. I would like the big image to move opposite of my mouse position on the smaller image. ie: cursor is on bottom left corner the bottom left corner of the larger image is in the same spot. And the same thing for any other area.
I have tried many different ways but to no avail. I have done research but no one has been able to give me a solid answer. Anyone know of a way to accomplish this. Keep in mind this it needs to work regardless of the image size.

in a game i am doing i have a class called "player" extending MovieClip.this Player MovieClip has multiple frames with animations in it.for example a MovieClip "Walk-right" on frame 2.this walkcycle clip now contains also some sprites/movieclipsone of these i have to colorize in every frame of the walkcycle according to the players color.how can i achieve this?in as1/as2 i used something like: this.clr.setGRB(_parent._parent.myclr)is there a way or do i have to think differently about the way i have to display the animations?

Im making a movie with a menu that loads movie clips according to which menu is selected simple enough. However, the newly loaded movie clip also needs to allow the user to load another movie into the main movie effectively swapping the first movie clip with the second. This needs to be done without using the main menu.

I have the scenario below. I have a movieclip on the stage (root). Inside this movieclip I have a frame with the action below:

I cant get this working with AS3. How is the correct way to do that inside a MovieClip with AS3?

I'm creating a menu bar that is a movieclip and inside the movieclip consists of the buttons.Now the menu bar is twice as WIDE as what is visible on the stage.The only part you can see is the text 'menu' on a bar.Then when the mouse hits the bar, it flies across the screen to the otherside of the bar where the menu buttons are.Now the menu bar does its animation over 20 frames - the last frame being the frame where the menu buttons are now visible.

How can I get a button inside a movieclip link to a frame in another movieclip on the scene? I tried this code:

I am making a site and have a component on the stage that is put there dynamicly through AS 2.0. When I F5 or Ctrl F5 it seems that the actionscript is read allover again?Only the script that is situated in the specific label. What if I have script in that label that creates a news reader. I f12 and the news reader is there I jump to another label with the menu. when i jump back to the home label the news reader does not appear on the stage. after a f5 or ctrl f5 it does.Do I have to attach the movieClip in each label to assure a the dynm-movieClip script is on stage for the ctrl f5 issue?
