ActionScript 3.0 :: Alphabet Recognition Game - Randomly Choose A Movieclip To Play The Sound

I am trying to develop a simple game for kids in which an Alphabet will be spoken and the kid will have to choose the correct alphabet being displayed on the screen. What I have tried to do is that I have saved each of the sound in a seperate movieclip.
how can I develop the code that randomly choose a movieclip to play the sound and then when the kid click on the correct alphabet, it adds the point and if wrong alphabet is clicked, it gives error.
I have this script that plays a sound from the library randomly - it works and plays one of the three/four sounds each time it is clicked - but how can i make it play a different sound on each and never repeat - does that make sense?
so, on the first click it plays either 1, 2 or 3, chooses 2 so next click it will choose either 1 or 3, chooses 3, and next click it plays 1 and so on.
what i need is the code to have a movieclip start playing at random, (not to have a random movieclip play) the only thing is i want to be able to choose the minimum gap between it playing
I have a movieclip on the stage that plays with a stop action at the end (within the movie clip). The thing is I have a stop action at the end of the movieclip so it doesnt replay instantly, I would like the movieclip to replay after a random time prefferbly 10 seconds after playing.
I am developing a web based multi-player board game and wondering what the best language for the UI would be? Its a board game similar to Go but a lot simpler.I have two options flash or the much touted HTML5 with JS. I have to learn both though I have basic knowledge of JS.The problem with flash is I have to pay for the server component but the UI development could be easier and have a richer look and feel to it. With HTML5 + JS there is no cost involved but the UI development I feel will be clunky and not smooth. This I am not sure.
I have a game with multiple levels, which is working as I want it to. I would like to add just one extra bit of functionality. As each level starts, I would like a movieclip to play and then disappear after a second or so. The movieclip will just say "level 1", "level 2" etc, without any interaction. Ideally it will appear as the level loads, and then fade out to disappear.
I would like to have Flash choose a scene to play at random,then play the scene, then choose another scene to play at random excluding any scenes already played.
I have two movie clips on stage, each with the same code, I have another movie clip that comes along and interacts with the two of them and changes properties to its speed and such. The problem is, it only seems to work one at a time, for instance I can't have both of the movie clips changing its speed, it works with one and then ignores the others code. *EDIT* I just ran a trace on the two mcs, I can confirm both of them know when the main one hits it, but because I'm trying to change a _root.mc.speed property in each one, it only accepts one of them and ignores the other for some reason :S If I use different properties in each it allows that.
I have an application in flash actionscript 2.0 that is running with several parts under each movieclips has an animation inside with a voice over. The problem occurs when I test the movie, the voice over/ sounds plays but when I click the pause button and play again the voice over/ sounds, sounds saggy and later on no sound will play.
I have a movieclip. And I try pause n play together with sound. But I can't do it. This my code in one frame just play pause movie clip without sound..
I am using Flash CS4. To illustrate, I created a new flash file and added a short tick sound to the library. I set the properties of the sound to export to Actionscript and named the class "overSound". I added a Movieclip object to the stage to represent a button and gave it an instance name of "overButton". On frame 1 of the main timeline I added the following code:
We have a bug in one game whereby the sound of the word repeats. Even when we use stopAllSounds - the sound is still kept in memory and you can hear it in the next activity - it's a disaster and kids get real angry.
what i'd like to do is create a button, and loop sounds in the "up" state of that button. the only problem is, that if i import the sound to the "up" keyframe and choose loop in the properties it keeps looping until the end of time. what i'd like though is it looping just in the event of the mouse being in the buttons' area. what should i do?
I imported a .aif sound in to my library and gave it a class name of "Beat". I'm using this sound as a rollover effect. So I have my variable initiated at the top like so:

i started with a Multiple mp3 players project and i more complicated with that - as you see in the picture i try to do that when click on the play button for every song this switch the song that selected -first preloading + percentage the mp3 file and after play it immediately and of course there is stop button, pause button when choose a song the previously that play will be muted
I play games on Pogo and have never had a problem with their Flash Games until released Daily Hot Shots. It doesn't load fully and I've done EVERYTHING I know to do to get it to play. No errors show up. I can play ALL the other flash games but this one. When I right click, the name of the site's owners do not show up....I have the settings showing though Not all of the game loads and that's the problem. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling....tried a different browser and have the same exact problem. THIS GAME WILL NOT PLAY.
It's possible to play a sound file through AS, either by loading it from a folder or import it to flash. It's also possible to play a dynamic tone with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat.
But... is it possible to play a sound file with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat in some way? I want to play a sound file without having to deal with any files except the .swf!
how to play videos randomly? For example, if I have 5 videos in a flash file, how can I make the player play the 5 videos randomly on every page refresh?
I have three MCs set up and each one has a set of quotes in it. There is one quote per frame and what i'm looking to do is to have it cycle randomly through the frames when a button is pressed and then stop on a random frame after a certain time.
I posted this in the Flash 8 forum, but wonder if I'll have better luck in here. I need to get movie clips to play randomly. Currently, I have actionscript on Frame 1, and a movie clips on the stage in Frame 2. Also in each movie clip as the last frame I have "PlayMC();".[code]
i want to make a single button to play a sound, and if pressed again, stop the sound. and if pressed again, play the sound, and so on... i know it has to be made with a boolean variable, true/false, but i just can't figure out how.
I am trying to have a random movie clip play as soon as my site loads, and when that one is done, I would like it to randomly choose another.I have 6 movie clips, I figure I will have to have the random script on frame 1 of my time line, and then I can just modify it to select another one on the last frame of each movie clip. However, I don't even know how to begin scripting this to happen. I have looked through these forums, and it seems like there are a lot of posts about this, but very few answers. Does anyone know how to go about doing this?I am using AS2.
