Hi I was wondering if AS3 supports multiple css classes, for instance, could I do something like:
<span class="red bold">Some red, bold text</span>
so the css would be:
.red {color:#FF0000};
.bold {font-weight:bold});

I am working on a project where i need to support multiple players and platforms to play videos. Major Platforms will be: Windows PC,Mac PC,Apple Devices and Android. This is the precedence i will be following. First it will check browser support for Silverlight 3 or later then Flash then HTML5. If not any one of them is supported user will be asked to installed Silverlight. I wanted to know which pattern and strategy i should use in order to support this functionality. Currently i have investigated about some javascript api that can do this detection on client side easily and load the player appropriately.. but as many of browser could be without javascript support so this method will fails to play videos. Is there any way I can do this detection on server side and inject proper Player HTML on client end?

I just looked into the styleSheet and TextFormat class for the first time and built a text scroller that pulls its content from a text file with html in it. I am having great problems with the fact that I can't add top and bottom padding to p, h, and spans. I actually am a bit puzzled by the fact, it is not supported. Since that is something I feel like I can't really live without. I am wondering if someone might have written a class that allows you to use those css properties in the style sheet or knows of someone who has, or of some other work around to do this. I did try adding an invisible "spacer" MC from the library via the img tag, but have to say, that at this point, that was rather unsatisfactory, as the amount of control I get, is not quite what I want it to be.

I was originally writing my code in flash AS3 then I found out AS3 do not support the HTMLLoader class... so I publish my code in Adobe AIR. And my code run perfectly fine when I ctrl+Enter in CS4... but when I run the exported .swf file... it just fail when I click on the buttons that associated with HTMLLoader class. Why it is not working when I play the .swf but it works when I ctrl+enter it in cs4?
Here's the error:
VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.html::HTMLLoader could not be found.
I did import flash.html.HTMLLoader;

I have a support class called ICSNAArrays. It contains only static functions. In my main class file I have imported it and then when I try to call one of the functions I get a compiler error that says there is no method with the name 'ICSNAArrays' I don't understand this. There are no errors importing it. All of the spelling is correct I am 100% sure on that.

i don't understand flash plugin only support .swf file,not support .flv file? always require load a swf file for play flv file, for exampes:

I have a problem when making flash applications with more than one frame that has symbols placed on it in that I can't declare all of the event listeners for the objects at the same time and I have found that even if I put them all on the first frame, add the event listeners, then click through to the next frame then the buttons won't work on that frame.
Does anyone have any idea how I could solve this? I did consider myself a fairly competent AS3 programmer until I realised I had no idea how to handle this sort of thing. Solved: I initialised the clips from my external class and then addChild'd and removeChild'd them as I needed to and placed their x and y on addChilding.

I'm creating a slideshow where each slide can have:- a video or a still- 1 audio track or many (up to 3)- 1 button or many (up to 3)I was thinking that each slide can be it's own object, and then I would pass the video, audio, buttons, etc., into it as parameters:

I have a class that represents a turret in the center of my screen.When I hold down SPACE, I want it to create a "bullet"-object that moves in the direction of the turrets cannon, every frame the SPACE key is held down. I am having problems with this cause I am getting this error when I am trying to create the object:
Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
This is where the error occurs:

PS: What happens is that when I press the SPACE key, the "turret" class event handler runs the function "Shoot_Chaingun" and that function creates a new Chaingun-object (which actually is a bullet), that inherits the x, y, and rotation of the turret, along with some additional varaibles, including lifetime. Then upon creation, I use "addChild(this)" to add it to the main stage, and "removeChild(this)" once it's lifetime is up.
EDIT: And also, I just realized I don't have a MovieClip linked to this chaingun class. How do I make sure that every time a chaingun object is made, the MovieClip is also loaded?

I have a few movie clips in the library. each is created at runtime, placed in an existing movie clip, and given some text (each movie clip has a dynamic text box inside). The header text loads, and then body, and then the enter button. My problem is that the tween for body don't work, yet the tweens for the header and the enter text work. The only difference between the header and the body movie clips, is that the textbox inside, in the body clip is set to multiline.[code]

I am making an AS 2.0 Class for polygons called "Shapes2". Shape2 is basically an array of Vectors (another Class I made) and is built using the function addPoint(x1,y1) to build the shape from a series of points. The points are then converted to vector-edges, etc etc.Here's the long and complicated construction:

if I comment out either instance, the other is functional when I test it. Trying to do two instances makes rect and pent point to the same array of vectors, but they keep other variables and properties separate, which means rect isn't just pointing directly to pent or visa versa.

I have a bunch of games each in there own directory with there own classes. I need to make 1 global directory with a class in it that all my games can use.
The reason for this is if I need to make a change to this class, I don't want to have to keep copying it into each game folder.

I just want different-looking movieclips to move in the same way so that I will only have to edit one file if I want to change their behavior, instead of copying the class file and renaming each one, and then I would have to edit the builder function name and class name inside each one as well, even though it would do the same thing.

im having trouble figuring out how to script a tween in AS3 with multiple properties. Is there anyway that Actionscript allows multiple symbols to be linked to the same class? This is because the symbols' are diff. in appearance but the same in functionality. It seems a bit redundant to create a new class everytime.

I've got a class that I create that extends the EventDispatcher class. My class has lots of variable declarations and getter and setter functions. I would love to split up the class into multiple AS files so that I can organize the variables and functions by category. Is there any way to do it and still maintain a relationship between all of the files so that one can easily call a function or a variable that exists in another? And so that other classes in my application can refer to one reference when accessing public functions in any of the AS files.

I have a "Window" class, which will create a window with the parameters you specify. One of the functions inside of that class is to place an element inside the window - something such as a text field, button, etc.
Now my issue. I've created two windows with different names, slightly different parameters, etc. I am adding a text field to each one. On the screen, both text fields show up (have borders enabled). I can refer to both windows using getChildByName(), but for one reason or another I can only find one text field using the getChildByName method. The other one will give me an error.... "Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference."This is the code that I use to add a Text Field, keep in mind this is inside the window class:

This code is repeated twice, for different windows. The only thing that's different about them is their names, which are slightly different. It seems that whichever text field I add first gets to stay, while an subsequent ones appear on the screen, but I cannot refer to them. I've tried switching around the window definitions and that does seem to be the case.

i want to create and manage 2 movieclips inside a single class. i just wrote a simple setup for this and i ran into a problem:i create 2 movieclips and want them to be displayed on stage.but only the second movieclip is actually displayed and the first one is just not visible. when i switch the order in which the movieclips are created i see the one being created last. so i totally dont know what to do here. since i am very new to flash i might be missing out on something obvious.here is my class:

I am creating multiple instances of a movie class with the same variable name. The movie is then added random on the stage with a tween. On a mouse handler click, i want to remove the movie from the stage.
I am getting error -

What is the correct way to import 'sub' classes into a main class?What i have is a class (i call it Console) that gives the user info about the swf for debugging, but also gives the user the ability to give their input to dynamically change the swf. Sorta like what games have when you press the "`" key.But it handles more things then just read user input, it also connects to the Database through PHP and connects through the server using Sockets.And there are more of those things that gets added later, so to prevent it gets to big later i want to split it into multiple .as files
Console Class: renders stuff and allows user input.I want that to include the following classes:
ConnectPHP Class (handles php > mysql)
ConnectJava Class (handles sockets)
So that the methods in those 2 classes are accessible in the Console class like:

I tried importing them but then i had to access them through the Object initialized:

But i want to access them as
[code]...
removing the reference of the ConnectJava Object. Is this possible? If you wonder why, id like to keep it as simple as possible because i share the classes with my friends.
