ActionScript 3.0 :: Convert Click Action To Rollover Button
Mar 3, 2009
I have some action script (3.0) Currently, it will allow the viewer to click a button (thumbnail image) and a larger ver. of that image will appear on the stage. I would like to convert this script to a "roll_over" the button (thumbnail image) and the larger image will appear on the stage. When I tried to do this with my new Flash CS4 - it did not work. This should be simple.... Right???
Here is the current script:
stop();
var my_loader:Loader = new Loader();
//load image for thumb1
thumb1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandler);
function clickHandler(e:MouseEvent):void{
[Code] .....
If I wanted to change an action from a button click to a frame-based action, what do I use instead of onPress? The hints from the AS editor are all click-based.
I just want to make a simple button action using actionscript 2 but I can't get it to work! I'm sorry for even asking but I've been at this for too long now for it to not work I'm using Adobe Flash CS4 and I do the following --
File -> New Flash File (ActionScript 2.0) Insert -> New Symbol Name - test Type - button Export for ActionScript Identifier - test
And then draw it in using the keyframes and add the code to 'Actions - Button' for my button
Code: on(release) { trace("trace"); }
I click on the button and it animates but no action event in the trace?
The script for my timer worked for one button but as soon as I set up the other 2 buttons to do the same, I started having a problem where the rollover action would go after the set amount of time was up but then would repeat itself once after the set amount of time was up again. just to clarify, if it needs it, the reason I don't have a rollout attached to these buttons is because I want the menu to stay out until you leave the menu area
so I have an invisible button called menuin_btn which sits to the right of the menu and covers the rest of the stage where the content will be, so you have to rollover that area for the menu to roll back in. The "rollin" in my code brings the movie clip to frame 16 (the end) where I have a gotoAndStop(1); command to get it back to frame 1 so the rollover can be used again. I've attached a zip with my current flash file and swf and here is what my current script looks like on the main scene:
I have a screen with 6 buttons. Only 2 are to be clicked in order to do something else. How can I do an event after having to click the 2 proper buttons?
I couldn't come up with a good title for this question but basically the problem is this - I've got a series of thumbnails and clicking on a thumbnail loads a larger picture into a holder movieclip on the main stage. However, if you click another thumbnail while the first picture is still loading, then both pictures load and it goes on from there. How can I make my code so that clicking a new thumbnail cancels any actions from previous clicks?
I've had this problem numerous times. I want to disable click events for a Button and have the Button appear disabled, but still respond to rollOver/rollOut events.
1. Consider a UI where users can vote for items they are viewing via a "vote" button when viewing an item -- they view one item at a time and there's one vote button on the UI.
2. User clicks "vote" and it sends the vote information to server etc, and stores in the session that the user voted for that item.
3. User can only vote for an item once. So to reflect this, I disable the vote button via Button.enabled = false. This makes the button visually disabled for the user and the user can't click it to vote again.
4. However, I want the user to know why the vote button is disabled, in case they forget they voted for the item and don't intuitively know why the button is disabled. In order to do this, I want rolling over the disabled button to give the user some feedback, like a tooltip that says "You already voted for this item."
5. Because the Button is disabled, I cannot respond to rollOver or mouseOver events.
There are alternative ways to letting the user know why something is disabled, but many times I think a roll over response with a visually disabled button fits the UI situation best. The only solutions I've come with are to check hitTestPoint with the mouse location on mouseMove (nasty) or create an invisible overlay button over the disabled button (also nasty.)
So within my Flash document I have a rollover movieclip that contains a UI scrollbar. My question is, can I modify this rollover script to be active until it reachs a certain frame in the animation and then become inactive so that the scrollbar works? Or, is there some script that I can use to make the UI scrollbar active within the rollover clip?
When the page loads, the first menu button (PORTFOLIO) is automatically OnClick. I want the user to be able to rollover it and click it when the page loads. I attached my file.
I'm currently working on a flashsite and are trying to figure out rollover menu buttons. The site has 6 menu buttons and are placed next to each other. I want to put a rollover action on the buttons, that when you rollover a button that the whole button image enlarges and moves in front of the other.
I have a slideshow that is looped ... it contains 5 slides.I am using a gotoandPlay action to control the slide show.
on (release) { this._parent.gotoAndPlay("98"); }
There is a fade transition between slides.When a button is released ... I want to gotoandPlay (frame 98) ... and then have it stop 10 frames later on (frame 108). Frame 98 includes the transition ... if I just gotoandStop on frame 108 ... I loose the transition.Is there any way to incorporate a stop action, after a gotoandPlay action on my button ... without naming instances etc.I.E.
on (release) { this._parent.gotoAndPlay("98"); STOP ON FRAME 108 INTEGRATED HERE }
How can I get an action to follow another action when a button is clicked? When a button is clicked, I want the timeline to go to a certain frame and play and when it's done playing, to go to another frame and play. I basically want two actions in one function.
I want to rollover a button and have it trigger the rollover state of another button. The buttons overlap. The one on top is transparent and smaller than the bottom button. So far I think I have the AS3 to handle the rollover of the top button, but I don't know how to trigger the other button's rollover state.
basically its a movieclip button with 2 other movieclip within it. i managed to code the rollover and rollout script for it but there is a funny spot that keeps triggering my rollover and rollout script endlessly if i leave my mouse hovering on it....any expert out there can clear this doubt of mine pls^^?^
-1 large html (home.html) file houses 2 html files (aaa.html and bbb.html) -aaa.html consists of 1 swf button -bbb.html is empty
question: is it possible to click on the button in aaa.html and have the action occur in bbb.html? (for example, clicking the button in aaa.html will load a swf in bbb.html)
I am trying to load a movie clip in a RollOver action inside another movie clip, but I have 2 problems:
1. If I do it with loadMovie("movie.swf") I cannot go back to my previous instance when the movie stops playing, but if I do it with the loadMovieNum("movie.swf", 1), it gets back to the previous instance, but it leaves that instance behind, so it keeps appearing all the time on the back.
2. Even though I see the swf when I publish it from Flash, when I insert the swf in Dreamweaver, I cannot see the swf that I loaded in layer 1. I only see the first layer and nothing happens when I RollOver.
I'm new to actionscript and am having difficulties creating a simple rollover action for a flash banner. I have managed to make it repeat on rollover, but only the first couple of seconds of the animation. the code I have used is:
I'm using actionscript 1.0 and 2.0 on flash Pro 8 and keep getting an error when I test the movie. Here is the error:
[Code]...
I've tried to create this rollover navigation...starting over 6 times already. Is there different language / coding for 1.0 and 2.0? I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
I'm trying to convert a working action into a package. Everything works fine in a Flash frame. I copied and pasted it into a class declaration and made the main function a public function. The action includes a timer declaration: var fadeTimer:Timer=new Timer(50); fadeTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER,fadeIm age);
In the package (but not in a frame), the function name "fadeImage" is thrown back as an undefined property. Again, copy & paste and it works fine in a Flash frame. Why the function is called successfully in a Flash frame but not in a package? The apparent space in fadeImage above is something this post is doing. I've tried placing both the function and the timer declaration inside and outside the public function. I've tried declaring "public var fadeTimer ..." No difference.
The animation/rollover works well but it still abruptly stops when I rollover another button. The link below is an example on what I want to accomplish.
I've just inherited a flash file on a project since I was the only one who has even seen actionscript code before. So, I'm pretty new to this, but have been programming a pretty long time. What we want is for the animation to begin upon the user clicking it and then when it finishes proceed to the html post submit. From what I see, the code seems mostly to be there, there is a 'stop' event, move next event, and even a 'on press' event. How do I get this to work? I can see the cod in the actions frame, but can't seem to edit it. Attempting to debug it, gives me errors on publishing. (How do I change my publishing?) This is currently actionscript 2.0. (but we seemingly have no external restrictions on keeping it so) As I mentioned, I'm pretty new to this, so if I am asking the wrong questions,
when publish the iphone os ,if the the *.actionscript file should be added in the contain files? and if the action "touch" in iphone os is the "click" action?
Lets say i have a button on frame 1. And if you press it normal, you ll get to frame 2. But then if you click it on another way, you ll get to frame 3. How do i do that easy?! With another way i mean like shift click or ctrl click or is it an easier way?
I am trying to perform an action with Ctrl+Click So, when a textfield is clicked, I would like to check to see if the user has the Ctrl key pressed as well, if it isn't pressed ignore the click action otherwise do the action...
I want to take a static text field, convert it into a button, and use it as a button. I need it static, because I changed orientation, and I do not know how to do that otherwise. The problem is, even though I converted it to a Button symbol, it does not work when I test the movie. It works fine with "Enable simple buttons", but when I test it, the button is not there, no change in mouse cursor, no reaction at all.So this is what I did:
Made text. // static, not selectable, Orientation: vertical left to right, / //rotated; Two filters: Drop Shadow and Glow;
Converted text field to Button - Symbol (scrollBT)
Editing the Button,I put the same content (the static text field) in all four frames: No luck, not working. without the Hit frame filled (which I think doesn't really make a difference): No luck, not working.Tried again, converting the static text field in the button into a Graphic Symbol: No luck, not working.Tried again, and put some differences in the frames for "ON" and "OVER" etc.: No luck, not working.Tried again, duplicating a similar, working button, edited it, and: No luck, not working.
To the button itself and the AS: The button will be a scroll-button for a text field, with different scroll speeds on rollover and press, but nothing else. The code for that I have (I think). It's something like (and please excuse my incorrect syntax here, but I'm typing from memory; still, I use the Script-Assistant and my syntax is apparently correct; it's also working with other buttons):
on {rollOver} { function (scroll) { textfieldtxt.scroll - = 1;}[code]....
I'm at the end of my wits. The only difference I can tell from other (working) buttons I did the same way, is that the scrollBt does not do anything except scrolling, while all of the others have frame actions (gotoAndplay etc.) associated with them.
i'm trying to use if statements but can't get this thing to work i want to check if another button is visible on release of a button to determine what action to be taken.the 'gotoAndPlay("firstscene",1)' is just there as an outcome, will be changed later. anyway this is the code i've got on the button i'm pressing. blobyellow2 is an instance of a button blobyellow is it because it's an instance that it's not working?
[Code]...
edit: sorry forgot to put what's wrong with the code. it acts as though the statement is correct no matter if it is or isn't.
