ActionScript 3.0 :: Retrieve Class - FontManager Loads Several Fonts And Allows Other Classes To Use Them
Apr 2, 2009
I'm trying to create some sort of a font manager. The FontManager loads several fonts and allows other classes to use them. The class 'FontManager' has some code like this:
I am getting a mysterious result when trying to load profile images from a logged in Facebook user's friends list into an as3 canvas app. In pretty much every (non-facebook) application I've made where loading an image is required I use the following:
private function loadPic():void { var url:String = Facebook.getImageUrl(_friendslistObjectArray[_loadCount].id); _picLoader = new Loader();[code]............
I can't retrieve the image from the event object, and I am given no error at all.It all just fails silently. If I remove the line var image = evt.target.content, the process runs through the whole array.I can't think of any reason this would occur. Furthermore, if I look in firebug's net activity, I see I see the images get loaded as long as I do not have the line I just mentioned included. I just can't seem to get the image data from the event object to add it to stage or a container movieclip.
how to get a Class file up and going in Flash and that works fine but say I want to import other classes. I try "import testCass" above in my import statements section of my as file and that doesn't work. What do I have to do to get that to work?
How do you preload dynamic classes which loads its own content? cause theoretically speaking the classes doesn't have a size yet until it loads its content right?
I have a main.fla and the two classes below VirtualGarage and VirtualCar. Main has VirtualGarage as its class which in turn works with VirtualCar. The code seems quite good but I get these errors.
error I get when trying to execute static function createDeadShip in Deadship:
Quote:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at global$init()//references to the line public class DeadPlayerShip extends DeadShip
Let say I have 3 objects of the MoveObject class. There is 1 symbol in the library linked to the MoveObject class. I dragged the symbol to the stage 3 times. Great.
If I type trace(this.x) in the class files it gives me the x value of all 3 objects.
My question is, how do I go through those x values one at a time?
I have two document classes. One is Main.as the other is Step2.as. I want to declare a public variable in Main.as then need to give it a value from Step2.as. That value will later be used in my next Document class Step3.as How would I write the code that gives the value in my Step2.as and then how would I write the code that retrieves the value in my Step3.as?
Note I can't import my Step2/ or Step3 document class into my Main.as.
I am doing an Actionscript 3.0 project which involves introspection. I am wondering if there is a way to get all the classes within a given package structure.
I am trying to retrieve the ByteArray from a file selected using the FileReference class so that I can pass this to a Web Service call that I am making to Sharepoint. Is there any way I can do this using Flash Player 9 without having to upload to a remote server first and then downloading the file to extract the ByteArray?
This is assuming you can't use Adobe Flash Player 10 and the data property from the FileReference class.
my web site has a lots of text field. it is xml based site.it is locally run perfectly but after i upload it to my server it's text fields' fonts replace to default fonts.some text gone down.so its confused to me.i used Myridpro font.now it is replace to default font .can u tell what is the solution for that..? i'm trying to make a class that loads an image easily for me, and runs a callback function when its loaded.
I'm not sure if it would make sense to use a static function for this or create an instance of the class, I did it both ways. I'm wondering what ways better or if theres an even better way to do it.
They both work but i'm not sure if LoaderPro could get garbage collected before it loads the image, doing something like this without referencing it in a variable.
I'm working on font embedding in Flash (flas are compiled using CS5 made previously in CS3). The project is split into a number of separate flas, and I'm having trouble with one particular one. I'm dynamically embedding the fonts using a class I wrote that sits on top of the stage listening for Event.ADDED then searching for textfields that have dynamic text and embedding the font needed dynamically (No efficiency requirements here. I have a check so that I don't bother processing textfields that are already embedded. No textfields in any of the flas (to my knowledge) have fonts embedded.
But some textfields are saying that they are, as in textfield.embedFonts == true.
In the fla global font embedding, that no fonts are embedded. If I click on the actual textfields embed button, I see that the font of the textfield is in the font list, but no character ranges are embedded. This is leaving me confused, as I want absolutely no fonts embedded in any flas. But the font for the individual textfield is always in the font embed list, no matter how many times I remove it. If I click on the embed button for the textfield to check it there is no embedding then the font is added to the list without any character ranges.
I need the view functions to go to another class called View and import it and initialize it when the program initializes. I get a couple of error trying myself. Eg:
[Code]....
This is my first program in Flash the real OOP way. So is my problems. (i'm trying to follow MVC design pattern) Also how to increase the size of the fonts inside the textarea?
Im trying to make a class that loads in some external data, and then creates some arrays in the class, which names and content are based on the data that are loaded. What i have now, is something like like this:
[Code]...
I guess my problem is, that i dont know how the reference the "root" of the class. What i want to be able to do with this class is this:
So I'm wanting to create a DocumentClass that is willing to accept a variable for a path to an XML file, passed in from the HTML, like thisindex.HTML page would have this: mySWF.swf?xmlPath=xml/xmlFileName.xmlIn the FLA (SWF) I would have only a DocumentClass load a .AS file.In the .AS File I need to accept or read the paramater being passed in from the HTML page.
Im trying to make a class that loads in some external data, and then creates some arrays in the class, which names and content are based on the data that are loaded. What i have now, is something like like this:
I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.
Edited Short Version:The Adobe Flash docs list a property embedFonts on TextAreas:
A Boolean value that indicates whether the font specified in fontFamily is an embedded font. This style must be set to true if fontFamily refers to an embedded font. Otherwise, the embedded font is not used. If this style is set to true and fontFamily does not refer to an embedded font, no text is displayed. The default value is false. Regarding the "If this style is set to true and fontFamily does not refer to an embedded font, no text is displayed" statement: How can I detect in ActionScript when this scenario happens?
TL;DR Original Version: I have a flash application which loads external .swf files containing embedded fonts, so that these fonts can be used within the main application. We're accomplishing this by using the following ActionScript code on anything which uses custom fonts:
Right I can upload the font to the server. But the only examples I can find - require registerFont(Verdana);Which means I'll need to create a new SWF with the new font embedded and reupload to the server. I need an automated way of doing this or perhaps something different altogether?
When I try to do this in an AS CDATA block, it tells me I can't have a class declared within a class (the MX:Application itself). Makes sense. But where and how do I do it?
I'm trying to implement CSVLib in an Air application and am getting an error that seems wholly illogical to me. "1120: Access of undefined property csv." and "1120: Access of undefined property completeHandler."
The only thing I can think is it's not importing the csv class properly, or the class itself is broken somehow? I know my import path is correct because I typed it out directly based on automatic hinting. The code below is copied directly from the how-to wiki on the csv lib site.
I have some code from a CS3 app composed of the .FLA file with an .AS file for the class that had definitions for two private classes in it. Yesterday I brought the files into CS4 and noticed that they did not compile. Gives an 1120, access of undefined property and names a constant. I have reduced this problem down to bare bones and it still occurs, so it is a bug in CS4.
I have 2 as3 files, which are the classes used . I have to use it with the main flash movie.. How will I include those as3 files without using document class..
