I want to stop ProgressEvent.Progress and two seconds to determine whether the Internet connection is dialup. Is there a way to stop ProgressEvent.Progress when bytesLoaded < bytesTotal? Right now, the event continues until the entire *.jpg file is loaded and/or creates a fatal error closing Flash. Here's the code I'm using:

I'm developing a flash file that that will be uploaded to dozens of websites which I have no control over. I found out that one of them seems to be gzipping the swf, which is causing loaderInfo.bytesTotal to be zero. This screws up the loading animation. I tried a workaround of just testing if bytesTotal is zero, if so simply proceed. That doesn't work because, as expected, not all the necessary data has loaded yet. Alternatively I can put a timed delay of whatever the expected load time is, and hope that it covers all the bases.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Ideally there's an alternative way to define bytesTotal, but I haven't found one. FYI this is somewhat related to this question: Why loaderInfo.bytesTotal is Zero But I can't do the htaccess suggestion because I don't have control over the other websites, some of which may be on windows servers anyway.

I'm creating a custom preloader for a Flex app and have noticed the following behavior: when loading, the progress bar goes to 100%, then down then back up, and so on until the app is finished loading.When I put a trace in the dowloadprogress listener, I see that while the app is loading, both bytesLoaded and bytesTotal increase, but not necessarily at the same time.[code]Why does bytesTotal change during load?

i built an preloader class that load any content using Loaders objects created dinamically with a "for" loop and save each Loader inside an array. In this way, i have one LoaderInfo object by each Loader object created. I created a variable whose hold the sum of all bytesLoaded properties values for each Loader object, in other worlds, this variable holds the total of bytes which will be loaded.Here's the code:

I have a flex 3 app that uses netstream and a video object to stream .mp4 movies. I want to use the bytesLoaded and bytesTotal properties of the netstream to display the buffering information. I would also like to get any information about the number of frames that are dropped if possible.
When I've tested on .flv I'm able to get the information without a problem, but it doesn't seem to work on .mp4.
Is it possible to get this information streaming .mp4? Is there some configuration that I'm missing to make things work the same for .mp4 as .flv?

I've got a very annoying problem and I've not got a clue why it is happening. I've created my own FLV player in actionscript 3.0 and I want to create a Progress Bar for my player. I've done all the code for it but it doesn't work properly as the bytesTotal number is 4294967295 instead of the actual size of the FLV until the bytesLoaded gets to the size of the FLV and then bytesTotal suddenly equals the FLV size. [code]As you can see once my 17MB FLV file has loaded the bytesTotal suddenly changes from 4096MB to the actual 17MB size.So how comes the bytesTotal is not picking up the size of the FLV?

I've gone through the two loader tuts on this site ([URL]) and they are great. But they both use the 'getBytesTotal' function. Is it possible to tell the loader to only load a portion of the swf, like 50% of total bytes - or upto scene 5? I've got a 5 min long interactive 'demo' and I don't want the viewer to have to sit and watch the loader while it loads all 5 min of content.

I'm creating a client-server game. My client is a flex based game, and my server is erlang server. At the beginning, when I test directly my flex client in flash player, I can establish a connection easily to my erlang server through socket connection. And both can exchange data with no problem. The problem rise when I deploy my flex app at Apache http server, and running it using a browser by calling [URL] my flex socket sends message requesting for a crossdomain policy to my erlang server. So I create an xml message that represent a crossdomain policy, and send it back to my flex app as a response for that request.
Yet still I can't establish any permanent socket connection between my flex client and my erlang server. I know this because I add listener on my flex socket that will modify its internal state to CONNECTED, if a connection between client-server has established.

After scratching my head for months about a ProgressEvent issue I decided to post my problem.I've been searching the web for a long time about my problem and all I could find was people with similar problems..But none of them had a solution.I've created a SWF file to upload files to the web server.The even triggers the progressEvent.PROGRESS to let a javascript function know when the progress has changed.When it's done uploading it triggers Event.COMPLETE.When I test my code at first it doesn't seem to work.The progress is event 2 or 3 times and then claims it's finished (While the Event.COMPLETE isn't fired yet).When the file is actually uploaded flash triggers Event.COMPLETE accordingly.o Event.COMPLETE is correct.. but ProgressEvent.PROGRESS is not.At least, thats what I thought, when I tested it on another pc (With windows XP 64bit) it worked (Magically?) tried it on a Mac and it, again, worked...why it behaves like this?

I am trying to get a loading screen to work. I am using a EventEnterFrame to check how much is loaded but I continue to have problems. I use the code in the first frame on the timeline, with extra movieclips running on that timeline with their own scripts. Can seem to get the loader to display. Considering using a ProgressEvent.
Here's the loader code.

I have an app that loads large imagery and swf assets on demand, presenting a movieclip that displays load status based on a ProgressEvent listener. When run locally and off of my own server everything looks as it should and I get accurate bytesLoaded and bytesTotal figures producing the correct load % displayed. However, when published to my client's server, the load status starts at 100% and doesn't ever change. The even stranger thing is that in Firefox it says 100% Loaded but in Safari it says Infinity% Loaded. Are there web server settings or differences I should consider here?

I'm not sure if the problem is as straight forward as the title describes, but it seems to be the only explaination. I'm loading a video at the begining of an application, but I don't want the skip Intro button to appear until the video "READY" event is fired. This works perfectly on the 32bit flash player but won't work on the 64bit flash player. It's not a streaming issue because I tested in both the local environment and via a server. I know the 64 bit player is in beta still, so there will be issues like this. I'm just wondering if anyone has found a work around. Here is my code if it.

The purpose of the code below is to keep a video from playing until it's completely loaded. The first time the page loads everything works perfectly. The problem is that until the browser is closed and reopened, it won't play again. It other words if I hit the browsers refresh button, it won't play.
I believe this is because the video is then already loaded in temp storage, and because of that, on subsequent attempts the ProgressEvent EventListener does nothing, and never goes to the Function ProgressHandler.
