ActionScript 3.0 :: Timer Complete On Click?

Jan 24, 2010

I have 2 timer related questions.

first one, I am using this great Mazoonist timer (5 min countdown) and this is a code:

Code:
function startTimer():void {
timer = new Timer(1000, 300);
timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, countdown);

[Code].....

only stop the timer on it's current time. i tried to use TIMER_COMPLETE instead of .stop(); but it doesnt work.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Complete App Slowdown When Using Timer Class?

Mar 17, 2012

My app is set up to pause the animation when the mouse is pressed down by calling Timer.stop(). While the mouse is pressed, the user can draw on the screen by dragging the mouse. When the mouse is released, the animation starts again with Timer.start() and is based off what the user draws.However, after I let the animation run for a while the app gets so slow that I can't even drag to draw when the timer is not calling the animation update without the drawing skipping hundreds of pixels at a time.

Flex :: Timer Complete Start Repeat Count

Mar 5, 2011

Just a quick question about the Timer class of Flex 4. I have a timer object with a set repeatCount. At the end of the set number of cycles, the TIMER_COMPLETE event is triggered and the timer.running changes to false. Now I can call the timer.start() function again. My question is that at this stage, does it also set the repeatCount property back to zero. Or does one have to explicitly call the timer.reset() function.

Flash :: Click And Drag To Spin The Wheel Complete With Acceleration And Deceleration In AS3

Oct 28, 2010

In my Flash File I have a wheel. The user is able to rotate the wheel by using arrows to jump to the next "segment" (think 20 images attached to each other forming the circumference of the wheel).

[Code]...

However, what I want to be able to do is, click and drag to spin the wheel, complete with acceleration and deceleration and even settling on the nearest image when the wheel reduces to a certain speed. I have no idea how to go about doing this: I'll need to kinda detect a before and after position of the cursor and translate this into a speed for the wheel which then decelerates over time and also detect which image is closest at a certain speed and "snap" it, both scrolling up and down. (it'll only affect the Y-axis)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Add Time To Timer Via Click And Drag?

Mar 11, 2011

I have to make a timer that starts off set at one minute and plays an animation mapped to the time remaining in the timer. I need it to start and stop on a button press, and once it has gone through the minute, I need to be able to add time to it and start it again (with the animation mapped to the new amount of time) by clicking and dragging (or maybe with a slider). I have the basic functions down, but I can't figure out how to get it to start over with the time added by dragging. Here is my code so far:

Flash - Timer Object With TimerEvent.TIMER Event Globally Accessible To All Objects?

Feb 16, 2012

I am working on a very simple game in Flash. I want to make all the animations framerate agnostic, so that I can change the framerate without affecting the flow and speed of the game.I read somewhere that if you want to do that, you simply create a Timer object and attach an event listener to this timer.

What if I have many objects that have to listen to the same timer? See the code to understand what I am trying to do. At this stage nothing breaks, but the event does not fire.Here is the Main class, the one that runs on swf execution:

public class Main extends MovieClip {
private static var _stage:Stage;
private static var _timer:Timer;

ActionScript 3.0 :: Difference Between Timer.stop() And Timer.reset()?

Aug 27, 2008

What is the difference between Timer.stop() and Timer.reset() functions because it seems that the 2 functions do the same thing? I image Timer.stop() to stop the timer and when Timer.start() is called the timer starts from where it stopped. For example, if I have a 3 sec. timer (3000 ms). If I stop the timer after 2.5 sec. and start the timer again, I would expect the timer to expire/trip within .5 sec.

ActionScript 3 :: Anonymous Function As Click Handler Is Called Multiple Times Per Click

Aug 16, 2010

I have a button labeled 'blueButton' and I'd like to use an anonymous function to handle the click, like so:

blueButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, function(event:MouseEvent):void {
trace( "-----click detected-----" );
// now do other stuff
});

Problem is, the click handler is called multiple times per click. The number of times called seems to be random (sometimes 2, sometimes 4, sometimes 3 etc). could I be missing something in my code, or maybe I set up the button wrong?

also I noticed that it seems to always get called once on the first click. After the first click is when it starts getting called additional times, maybe that has something to do with it?

Actionscript 3.0 :: If Function - When Click On The Button Takes To Another Page Without Showing The Click Animation

Sep 11, 2010

I created a movieclip animation that only activates when i rollover the movieclip button. I further extended the frames and created another frame animation that i active only when user clicks the button. So i have a roll over/out animation and click animation in the same movieclip in the same layer. Now the problem is that when i click on the button, its supposed to take me to another page, and it does, unfortunately without the click animation. That means after i click on the button its supposed to first finish the click animation and then go to another page. But when i click, it takes me to another page without showing the click animation

SO I tried the If function, but i seem to make a mistake somewhere and i dont know what to do. Now there is no error in script, but onw there is a problem in link, the button finishes the click animation but it does not go to the tarrgeted"about" frame. here's the code
