Flash :: Change Timing Display On Timeline?

Is it possible to change the seconds counter displayed below the Flash CS3 timeline to something more detailed/comprehensive? I'm doing some work for some guys that need very specifically lengthed scenes to fit in predertmined gaps in a project they're working with and when I get notes for a scene to be like 04:16 seconds long it's a little hard to translate that to the one decimal point that Flash provides...I need a reading more like the Premiere timeline. I looked in the preferences and didn't see anything but I could've sworn I saw an option like this once before.

I am as new as a flash newbie can be and I was editing a template for a flash intro. My company wants to use a different soundtrack for the intro which would necessitate changing the timing of the intro. What I mean is that I want certain scenes to display slightly longer than they are now.

in the old version of flash, there was an option in the property inspector where one could have assigned ie. 8 seconds to a keyframe (esp. text) so one could read the let's say 3 sentences before the next set of sentences came on the stage. i swear there was an option for this in flash 8. can anyone tell me how to control the timing in flashcs4 in between frames? i know how to make the very last frame stop( ); in actionscript 3.

Can someone point me to an action script that can display a timeline on a flash movie. I don't want to use a component. I would like to learn how to program this using actions script.
It need to be able to move the slider back and forth to move the flash movies timeline back and forth. It almost needs to look and act like the Timeline in the flash editor.

A display object container on the stage has some bitmap images of sizes 50x50 arranged in a order one by one. Now if i click on any of the thumbnail image (bitmap) the entire container should move and position itself so that, the bitmap image clicked is placed in the center of the stage.

I've got a movieclip with two layers - a background movieclip, and above that, a mask movieclip (as you might guess, this layer is masking the first). Due to design necessity, the mask is animated on the timeline across 60 frames.The problem arises when I use an Event.RESIZE listener to change the width of the parent movieclip when the browser window is resized. Any code to reference the mask, i.e
parentMC.contentMask.width = stage.stageWidth;
parentMC.contentMask.x = frame.width/2 - frame.contentMask.width/2;
Simply results in the mask animation not playing at all.

Does anyone know how accurate flash timing is and its ability to identify the client monitor's refresh rate? I need to be able to calculate time durations with up to 10 milliseconds accuracy of response time. Also if it is off, is there a way to possibly calibrate the response based on monitor refresh rate and action to make sure the value is as close to precise as possible? Any info would be great! Even better would be some examples of existing benchmark test.

i have a little Query. iv looked on the past forum posts but the solution i found did'nt work "for me".I was wondering how to delay an action with actioniscript i.e. press wait 10seconds then perform action/function i have a crude way but i it calls for animating in the time line and i want to do as little of that as possible

I've started using Shared Libraries and this subject peaked my interest... does Flash still have load timing issues with Shared Libraries? I found a few site online that mention that your Flash project will load but if it didn't have time to load your Shared Library, it simply won't load it and you are out of luck. Is this still true with the latest version of Flash? If so, how do I preload the library to make sure it doesn't happen?

A user is reporting that a certain screen of our Flex app times out in Google Chrome and IE. I can reproduce this problem, but I don't know what is causing it. I cannot reproduce it with Firefox.
I was wondering if there is a way to temporarily disable this feature in Chrome because I know that in Firefox(at least in v3.6) when a Flex/Flash app executes for too long I get a stack trace from the Flash runtime pointing me to the problem. example:
Error: Error #1502: A script has executed for longer than the default timeout period of 15 seconds.
at TimeoutTest/___TimeoutTest_Button1_click()[/TimeoutTest/src/TimeoutTest.mxml:5]
I think that Chrome is hijacking this process and denying me that information, so I would prefer to prevent this behavior for now to see if the runtime will detect the timeout and provide a similar trace.

I'm working on a rhythm-based game set to a specific song in ActionScript, in which a trigger spawns on the right side of the screen and moves left. The player must hit the trigger when it touches the left side of the screen, and I'm trying to figure out the most code-efficient way to spawn triggers in sync with the timing of the song. The only thing that came immediately to mind was an update function tied to the main loop that checks if the song is at a certain second each frame, but that seems unnecessary.

I have a Flash animation that starts with an audio clip imported. When that's done it goes to a video. After that another audio clip plays, but I can't get it to start when it's supposed to. It keeps coming in too early even though its keyframe is after the movie ends. In fact I had to move the audio's keyframe about 1500 frames past where it should be to get it to come in at the right time. My Flash movie is 24 FPS. The .mov file being referenced in the FLVPlayback is 23.98 FPS. What's going on here?

I'm having timing problems with a music video I am working on. The framerate it 24fps which for a 22 second animation should give me 528 frames. However, In the preview of the slides the 22 second mark on the sound is reached by about 310 frames. What's more, the 22 second point in the sound is reached at a later time in an exported swf movie, but still not 528 or 310. Why is the timing different in all viewing modes, which one should I use to time my video or how can I set them to all display the video at the correct timing?

It feels like it's been ages since I've worked in Action Script (dissapointingly the demand just isn't there for me) and I'm really, really rusty.
I'm working on a Flash banner, and one particular part has 5 movie clips. I want each movie clip to fire off at separate intervals(i set it at 300 miliseconds per clip)

I've got a movieclip called "rotatorProxy" that spans the entire timeline. I've got nav buttons that jump to various frames on that timeline. I need to get the display depth of rotatorProxy each time the nav buttons move the playhead. The AS3 code is easy enough:

my problem is where to put it. If I put this code in any script that executes in the target frame, it works, but only if I hit the nav buttons slowly. If I bang on a single nav button rapidly, getChildByName("rotatorProxy") can return null. I don't know much about how the display list works but I assume the display list is rebuilt after every jump and the frame scripts are executing asynchronously, so it's possible my getChildByName call is executed before the display list is complete. Is there an event or some other handle that would allow me to call my code before the frame is rendered but after the display list is complete?

the website that im working on has 5 main buttons which then navigate you to a certain frame on the timeline which will display its respective information. but within one of those pages/frames i have 3 more buttons that i want to be active and take you to another frame on the timeline.
but when i try activating them with the same as3 code that i used on the other 5 main buttons, they do not work.

Right now I have the typical timeline where I have several layers but the problem is all the content doesnot display permanently after its run through the timeline.For example layer 1 will play then disappear and then layer 2 will play through and disappear.
Is there an ActionScript that I can have for example layer 1 play through and display permanently then layer 2 plays and does the same thing, layer 3... so on and so forth one after the other until all the images are shown?I've searched all over but every ActionScript code pauses the entire timeline.

I have the Dynamic Text field that has an instance name on a mid-timeline frame in Flash CS4. I have a class that inherits from Sprite, and which is always added to the stage on instantiation. How can I get a reference to my Dynamic Text instance from this class?
Example:
My Main class (linked in Flash's publish settings) goes like this:

I am having some kind of issue with the display list? I have a function that goes through various frames of my timeline and then traces all the symbols on the stage..
ActionScript Code:
for (var pm = 0; pm < this.numChildren; pm++) {

What I am noticing is that it will return everything until it runs into a symbol that does not exist on every frame.. as soon as it does encounter a symbol that does not exist on all frames of the main time line it spits out -
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at 3_Migration_Standard_Nav_v2_fla::MainTimeline/pMovie()

I have somehow managed to change the layout of my timeline in CS4 so that it shows the layer names, across the entire window. This means I cant see any of the frames, just the layer names.No matter how many times i reset the workspace or change it, it wont come back! If i hover the mouse over the edge I get the double ended arrow that should allow me to pull the side bar over to reveal the frames but it doesnt do anything!.
