View 7 RepliesI have a project for mobile where some of my animations scenes look as though they are winding up or playing in slow motion (from the start). They start out slow for about three seconds, as if they are winding up or in slow motion, and then they run at a normal pace. It only happens on specific animations and is consistent on different devices. Also, once I come back to the scene (revisit), the animations run normally from start to finish.
I have had some success in speeding up some animation by doing the following: In some scenes, the following would occurr: 1) a character was walking 2) the character grew in size though tweening 3) the background was animated as well ect. In other words, there were several things happening in the animation. In this example, I made it less complex by keeping the character the same size and making the background static. This helped alot. However, for the aforemation animations, I have tried everything (I am aware of) and nothing has helped. I'm not sure what to do next.
I have button1_btn on a frame in the beginning of this animation, and on that frame I script it:

I also have other buttons that eventually take a different frame where that button isn't on.So I add it to the stage in that frame and assume it will gotoAndPlay("image1") again when clicked, but when I test the movie, and click it on the later frame, nothing happens.I tried maybe adding the original script to that frame as well, but then I test and it says I have duplicated script and doesn't work.Why does the original script work for that button, no matter where and when it shows up?It's the same button essentially, no?

i want the menu+header to be played only once a day from the beginning, because its pretty annoying at the moment.
I'm currently doing a script in which I have to preload some external resources (jpgs) at the begining of the animation.I dynamicaly create my MCs in which I do my loadmovies. Classical.Now the thing is, a few frames later, I need to reuse the images I have preloaded in other MCs.The thing is there seems to be a problem in using dynamicaly created MCs, here is why this is weird :
- I import a MC from the library : I can duplicate it, and I *see* it on the animation
- the MC that I have created, that I *see* on the animation, doesn't want to be duplicated : by that I mean that when I duplicate it, it can't be seen.
Now if there is a simple explanation for that, I have another question : I have an empty MC in which I want to *copy* one of the very MCs that I have dynamicaly created at the beginingn what is the best method ? attachMovie ? doesn't seem to work, but yet again, all this might be related.
I am working on a tabular file that when you click on one of the tabs (there is 7) you view the content of that layer.
The code I am using works fine:
on (release) {
land._visible = true;
Tab1._visible = false;

but when you view the "land" layer, go back to another tab and go back to the "land" layer it doesn't reload and start at frame 1 but the last frame you were at.
I desperately need it to "reload" when you release on the action above and to GoToAndPlay frame 1 but whatever code I try it won't do it.
I'm a total rookie working with flash and i'm wondering if theres a way to call in text from an external file. I'm building a news feed on my companies home page, and I'd like to be able to have my boss edit it easily 'cause he doesn't know how to use flash.

When I'm typing and press enter I expect a new line to be created, but instead the text goes to the very beginning and writes over what I've already typed. Does anyone know what setting is causing this?
View 2 RepliesI compiled two swfs into a single exe using a converter. Both swfs have the same 5 tabs for the 5 sections of my presentation. Swf A has all the stuff for the first 4 tabs, Swf B has the stuff for tab 5. When I start the exe & navigate all around in the first 4 tabs & their sub-sections, everything's fine. I can also click on tab 5 & the Swf B stuff starts playing right away & I can navigate all around in there.
BUT... After I've been clicking on the tab 5 stuff, if I click on any of the 4 tabs from Swf A it kicks me all the way back to the intro animation at the start of Swf A. What I need is to have it go to the first frame for each of those tabbed sections. (e.g. frame 5, 38, 93,...) I did gotoMovie & then gotoAndPlay & the frame number, but it sends me back to frame 1 anyway. How do I get it to go to the frame I want? This is in AS 2, by the way...
I just learned how to make a basic slideshow of images where one image shows for 3 seconds and then fades out and then a new one fades in, on and on. I imported my images, converted each image to a movie clip symbol and now they're arranged in my timeline. I need to add a NEW image at the very beginning of the the timeframe. I keep trying to Insert --> Frame, etc., but I'm not seeing a new first position in the timeline where my image will go. I'm used to video editing timelines and Flash is a real challenge for me.
View 1 RepliesI just upgraded to flash player 10.1 and there's an issue with a program that I've been working on. I'm copying text from a mysql table that is formatted with spaces and newlines (including spaces and newlines at the beginning of the text) into a textArea in Flex 3.5. Before the update,it worked fine. Now when AS retrieves the text from the table, it does not include the spaces and newlines at the beginning of the text.I'm using xml to retrieve the text.
View 2 Repliesok lets say you create a button that when held down play an animation of 20 frames if realsed it goes to frame one and stops if held down it plays out this animation. for the topic lets say you have a fire animation and you want the fire to apear and if the user hold its down the animation reaches the end of the time line and loops back and plays the last 5 frames of the animation and as soon as it is let go it goes to and stops at frame one. Well i know how to make a button that when held down plays out an animation. And i know how to say when released goes to and stops at frame one. What i dont know how to do is to loop the fire at the last 5 or 6 frames so the user can hold it down all day long and play out that animation.
View 1 RepliesI have a certain set of motion twains that I've successfuly completed, they constantly loop right now (default), and is saved in the SWF file.I'd like to take that finished looping animation, and insert it within another animation (a) that can be played with a play button, and stopped/resetted with a stop button.How do I insert the completed looping animation into the main animation? And is there something special I have to do in the actionscript of the start and stop buttons so that the "inner" looping animation will start and stop with the "outer" main animation?
View 1 RepliesOn a horizontal bar, text scrolls from left to right, continuously. The text is a fixed string of city names, and I've made it so that it loops nicely. This horizontal bar with scrolling text is part of a vertical animation, scrolling the bar in and out of view. The vertical tween starts after two seconds. When the vertical tween starts, the horizontal animation has started as well. At the beginning and end of the vertical tween, the horizontal tween starts over. I want it to continu.

Basically you have the "Home" Screen and then you chose one and an animation is been played. Then when I press another button, a different animations is being played.
View 3 RepliesI created a movie clip which plays ok. But when it ends there is a slight jump, if you will, when it goes back to frame 1 to begin playing again. Does anyone know how to make the transition unnoticeable from the last frame of a movie clip to the first frame of a movie clip?
View 4 RepliesI've created a progress bar animation to load an external SWF file as described in this document: [URL] The problem is, the SWF file i want to load is a magazine exported from Indesign, so I want it to display one page (frame) at a time (you can go to the next page using the navigation buttons provided). When I use the method mentioned above the clip loads, but then it plays... so how can i make it stop at the first frame?

How does flash determine when to start playing the movie? Is it based on a percentage of loaded size or does it load assets as it moves along?
I'm working on a bit of flash that has some actionscript in it the randomly generates different snowflakes that move upwards on the stage. Problem is I need them to load into a target mc rather than on the top level of the main timeline and I don't know how to amend the code.

I have a movieclip that shows an animation onRollOver and an animation on RollOut but onRelease the animation enlarge itselfs but now when I'll roll out when the animation isn't open (so i didn't release) the animation plays the animation for the minimizing of the animation. I have a swf published into the web, I noticed that Adobe has provided some basic sort of loading animation, as I can see it when I loading the swf(including the library swf, the overall size exceeds 1M bytes). My question how can I add some text into it, like percentage? Or further more, can I write my own "swf loading progress bar"?
I am using flash builder 4.
I am using a loading bar with % (percentage) . Everything seems to be working properly but its giving a little problem , it load 25% and then shows the loading bar. That mean while loading till 25% of the movie the is completely blank. Which is quite annoying and recognized as a bug. Required help from the actionscripting expertise. I'm just a beginner to actionscripting. I have 3 movie clips in an animation. All I want to do is, I want to start running the first one, upon completion, the second one should start while the first running again. Any approach and the options available in AS2.0?

ok..i'm in the midst of extending/modifying this tutorial.... i understand the transition mc is the loading animation.... however i want to put a progress bar.
Basically I have a remote with forward, play, stop, and rewind. There are 5 songs. The mc, called player is within the main timeline. First thing I want it is to load the nomusic animation... which is a mc within the player mc. then when the music loads it'll play the workign animation when the song loads.also i'm trying to avoid going to different keyframes and states. so when song 1 is played, and if the forward button is pressed i want it to go the next song. etc...
View 2 RepliesThis is a photo portfolio and displays images that scale up to view reasonably well on even a 30-inch monitor very large. So images are capped around 300k each. This in and of itself is not a problem as I've seen other sites load many images of this size with no issues. Problem I'm having is that at some point--presumably the end of the load--the size of the image causes the player to stutter and so the scrolling motion that is occurring as these images load in the background gets jacked up and looks terrible.

I've code in place right now that adds the image to the display list only between scrolls of the enlargements, as I thought maybe the point at which the addChild hit was what was causing the stutter. I was wrong, though, and now don't know what to do. It's def the image loading that causes this as I sub-d in 30k images into the "Stills" section and the problem goes away. Also the stuttering goes away once all images are loaded into memory.
I have done a character animation by loading multiple images one after another at runtime or dynamically by accessing files from there path directly. But the problem I am facing is, I am getting a white bg or delay when the images change, it kind of feels like the images are flickering. How can I get rid of this flicker.
View 3 RepliesI'm using swfobject to dynamically load a flash object into a div, and I'm wondering if there's an easy way to display a loading animation until the flash object is ready for display? In this case, I'm loading an embedded Issuu object, and you can see an example of Issuu loading via swfobject here. Depending on your connection speed, there is typically just a blank white space while the flash object loads, and it'd be great to indicate progress with a loading animation if possible.

It works well, a main movie loading in all the component parts, to keep the overall filesize down.Except this seems to cause me a problem: the animation sits in a normal html page, which has links to other pages. As the animation loads in, the little percentage checker ticking away in the corner, it is either impossible or at best slow whenever you click on any of the html links. It wants to keep loading the bits in rather than stop and do what the browser wants.IS there anyway of forcing the flash animation to stop loading?I notice on macromedia's site that most of there navigation is controlled by other flash movies, rather than html links, altho the html links do seem to interrupt the main animatin loading and then navigating on.
