I am going to be making a flash intro that involves using the flash transitions to transition between pictures and video content. I'm not looking to use this whole code from the template, I just want to implement the transitions with the timer instead of a keypress event. One like as follows:

I am trying to use the "simple photo album" template that comes with Flash Prof. CS5. I have it working except I want it to play by default. The actionscript that came with the template is below (in blue), but if I set var autoStart:Boolean = true; I get the following error and the controls do not work:

Is it possible to have more than one timer running?I have various movieClips that I want to do something for a certain amount of time then do something else, but I need them all to be running at the same time. Before I embark I would like to know if (so long as the timer is running inside the movieClips timeline and not the main timeline) will they work independently?

How can I know if a timer is running, and if it is, remove it and create a new one or not. I have put a timer in my main swf when the timer is over I send the head to frame 1 and run to frame 20 where is my code, the problem is that every time the timer is over go to frame one and in frame 20 create a new timer, I would like to remove the old timer or not create a new one if there is one.

I have placed the code is on frame 3 of the timeline. I tried using trace to see if the bugChange function is executed and it is not. The bugTimer does not start and call the function for some reason. see the code below:

I am developing a test as part of an e-learning module. The test has a timer on it, basically to dissuade users from looking up the answers online while doing the test.

I just realised however, that the framerate and timer are choked when a browser tab is invisible. In other words, when the user opens a new tab, the timer freezes! How can I get around this? The final product will run on an LMS, so going full-screen is not an option.

I managed to get the swf to load fine on this page (www.diamondraindesign.com) until I added a full-screen invisible button that goes over the slides. It uses the same counter to sync with them so that whenever someone clicks on it they go to the proper page. Unfortunately, now only the link works to the first page item, and sometimes I can't even see the slides 'loading' text, just a white background. If I take the link button out, the slides are fine. Why is the link interferring, and how do I get it to sync and not stop the slides?

I have a AS3 flash slide show that uses the timer method with a wait() function to change slides. So the preloader is on frame one and the first slide is on frame two and the second slide is on frame three and so on. At each slide frame there is a wait(7) statement so that the swf moves ahead to the next frame every seven sec. When I create a nav element that uses the gotoAndPlay function to target each frame.

Everytime the nav is clicked and goes to the corresponding slide the timing of the slides is all messed up. I may be naive but it seems that once the button in the nav is clicked the timer keeps going on the slide the user was on when the nav was clicked. How can I clear the wait() timer on click? When I just add a remove.EventListener to the button the function in the frame is not available to the button though they are both in the same frame.

Below is the wait() I am using in the root stage timeline:

There seems to be a time delay problem when the slideshow is playing. It will start playing, but as soon as I click on the next or previous button to view another clip it will mess up the delay time and screw up when the pictures will play. Go into project explorer and can't see much AS so how the hwll are they getting the images and text into the flash swf. By the html??? I don't think so.

is there a way to speed up flash movies playing when put up on the web. I created a web banner and uploaded it, when I open the website on the browser the flash movie pauses for a few minutes and does not play straight away. Is there any actionscript that will ensure the flash movie will play instantly when on the web? Is it the file size that is causeing the swf to run slower? Is it anything to do with the publish settings in the fla file?
