Actionscript :: Include A Pause , Continue Button In A Flash Demo Using It?
Feb 28, 2012We are making a flash demo of a website using Actionscript.

View 2 RepliesIm trying to make a FLV cue point pause the FLV and also pause the entire timelines inside the swf. Then everything would continue playing when the user would click a "continue" button.
Basically I have a flash presentation that load an external FLV and a bunch of graphics that go with the video. At one point I need everything to pause so a small flash game can come in and the user can play it and then when they are ready to move on they can click "continue" and the FLV would continue where it left off along with the rest of the timeline.
Is there an easy actionscript that can be added to the main timeline to delay playing and wait at that point in the timeline for a few seconds and then continue to play? Sounds easy but I've yet to see an example of such.
View 4 RepliesHow to pause on a keyframe for five seconds in flash then continue playing?[code]...
View 1 RepliesI want to see a command (or function) That pauses the script for a X amount of time and then after the time passes, the script will continue normallyHere's what I'm talking about:
View 4 RepliesI have only been using flash for a few months and have not yet utilized setInterval. I have a loop that I want to run through once and then pause and then continue etc. So I can have each little test.swf pop up one by one rather than all at once
Code:
createEmptyMovieClip("menu", 10);
function createMenus() {
aMenu = new Array();
aMenu = ["test.swf", "test2.swf", "test.swf", "test2.swf"];
for (i=0; i<aMenu.length; i++) {
menu.createEmptyMovieClip("menu"+i, 100+i);
menu["menu"+i]._x = i*100;
menu["menu"+i]._y = 100;
menu["menu"+i].loadMovie(aMenu[i]);
}}
I've just started get the hang of Flash, but am not too skilled with AS2 yet apparently. I was wondering how I would go about if I want the scene to pause when I roll the mouse over it, and then continue playing when I roll out.
I figured it would be something like this:
on(rollOver){
stop();
} on(rollOut) {
???
}
I want to include a "continue" mechanism in my game. Like, when someone turns my game off and plays it again, after a day or two, it should continue from the point it was on before the game was turned off.
View 1 RepliesOften i would like to wait for an event to fire before continuing my code. I hate to have to create tons of functions to fire one after the other in a sequence when it makes much more sense for all the code to be in one function.
So instead of myFunct1() to fire myFunct1_part2 which fires myFunct1_part3, i would like to have all the code of all the functions in myFunct1().
The reason i can't do this is that i continuously need some values that aren't set until an event is fired. This is an example:
ActionScript Code:
var xml:XML;
xmlhandler = new XMLHandler();
xmlhandler.addEventListener("xmlLoaded", function() { xml = xmlhandler.xmldata; });
xmlhandler.loadXML(path);
[Code]....
I was wondering if anyone has any input on my question.I've been trying to figure out for a few hours now how to make words or sentences animate in and "pause" for a few seconds (for the user to read) and then continue to play. I know I can tween it, but I wanted to do it via actionscript. I got it to animate in and come out but i couldn't figure out how to have it hold for a few sec. I will have more than one sentence animate in and out.

How does this website enable a user to punch in any URL then see that site with a chosen flash overlay?
View 1 RepliesWould it be legal for me to develop fla files with the demo version of Adobe Flash CS5 and have my friend, who owns a full copy of flash pro, to export them to swf? This would be much like using the developer version of ColdFusion.

View 1 RepliesI have to create a demo loop that will play on a 32" TV at a convention center booth. This .swf will also be repurposed on a webpage after the convention.What's the best pixel dimension to create the flash stage? If I create it at 1024 x 768 to fit safely within a browser, any idea how it will look when viewed on a TV? Will it look distorted? How do I compensate for fact that the TV may be 1080p or it may be 720.... and still have it work on a typical web page?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to get my flash movie so that it pauses when the mouse is over the movie and continues when the mouse is not over the movie during certain segments of frames in my movie clip. So basically I need some code that executes this: if the mouse is over the stage between frame 25 and 45 pause the movie until the mouse leaves the stage or the next or back buttons are selected.
View 1 RepliesI am new to CS5 and I want to create a demo where each scene has it owns sound file. So going from scene 1 to scene 2, the sound from scene 1 should stop and the sound of scene 2 should begin then after the sound file from scene 2 finish it will automatically go to scene 3 then the sound file from scene 3 will begin. Each scene has a jpg file in it to show the user what I am talking about.
View 1 Repliesi want to continue my program after user click on a button.
ex: when click on group1 button assign groupVal = 1 and continue the program.
I am a novice and have just completed my first animated movie. The movie is currently looped and I have created and invisible button the size of the frame with the intention that a user can click on the movie image to stop it and on second click continue the movie from where it stopped. I have used the AS event handler method to stop the movie. I have tested it and it works. But I cannot figure suitable code to restart the movie.
Two questions;
1. Am I going about the task the right way? (should I use two buttons, one stop, one start)?
2. If my approach is feasible, can anyone give me the correct AS to re-start the movie and put me out of my misery please?
In a buttons code, how would I say finish loading, then play. Here is what I have:
btn.onRelease = function(){
loadMovie(movie.swf);
//finish loading code goes here
gotoAndPlay("label");
}
i've made a button that zooms into a movie clip on a rollover, but it on moves it a certain amount each time you rollover the button. code below: on (rollOver){
_root.Mypic._width += 5;
_root.Mypic._height += 5;
}
wot i want it to do is to continue zooming in for as long as the mouse is over the button, is there anyway i can change the code to zoom in at the same amount but do it continuously until the mouse is moved off the button. Also is there anyway that i can set it so that the zoom stops at a certain percentage, i.e. it only zooms in so much and then stops. What i mean is that the user can zoom in but the picture will only zoom in to say 200% of the original size.
I'm making a website for music and video and need to find out how i go about making a pause button for audio,. it has to pause the sound being played and then restart the sound from the point it was paused
View 3 RepliesI saw it in this site...[URL].. it says "Include code from external sources using #include".umm... does it mean I can use C code, etc. within flash??
View 1 RepliesI am using an include file, and I've noticed that sometimes the the fla file does not refresh new changes to my include file. When exporting with "Ctrl, Enter" Is Flash loading the include file from the cache?
View 3 RepliesI have a flash xml slide show. I need to create a play pause toggle button that will stop the xml slide show and start it again.

I have seen umpteen different guides on how to make a play/pause button in flash. and i cannot get it to work. I think i may pull my hair out soon.basically- i have made an mc which sits on the main timeline. i t has 2 frames, ecah of which has a stop() action in the frame. the first has a pause button with the following script attached to to the button:
on(release){
_root.stop();
gotoAndStop(2);
}
i have also tried putting in nextFrame instead of gotoAndStop() -but this is besides the point as it's not even stopping!in the second frame there is a play button with the following scruipt attached to it:
on(release){
_root.play();
gotoAndStop(1);
}
I think the problem may be deeper rooted because i have looked on sevral guides and they all tell me to do a similar thing.
In fact i made a button which sat on the timeline with this script
on (release) {
_root.stop();
}
and STILL nothing happened!
I saw it in this site...[URL]it says "Include code from external sources using #include".does it mean I can use C code, etc. within flash?
