ActionScript 2.0 :: SetInterval - Loop Then Pause / Continue

Jun 2, 2004

I have only been using flash for a few months and have not yet utilized setInterval. I have a loop that I want to run through once and then pause and then continue etc. So I can have each little test.swf pop up one by one rather than all at once

Code:
createEmptyMovieClip("menu", 10);
function createMenus() {
aMenu = new Array();
aMenu = ["test.swf", "test2.swf", "test.swf", "test2.swf"];
for (i=0; i<aMenu.length; i++) {
menu.createEmptyMovieClip("menu"+i, 100+i);
menu["menu"+i]._x = i*100;
menu["menu"+i]._y = 100;
menu["menu"+i].loadMovie(aMenu[i]);
}}

Pause And Continue Playing Scene With RollOver / RollOut

Oct 26, 2010

I've just started get the hang of Flash, but am not too skilled with AS2 yet apparently. I was wondering how I would go about if I want the scene to pause when I roll the mouse over it, and then continue playing when I roll out.

I figured it would be something like this:
on(rollOver){
stop();
} on(rollOut) {
???

ActionScript 3.0 :: Using A Cue Point To Pause FLV And Timelines Then A Button To Continue Playing

Aug 25, 2010

Im trying to make a FLV cue point pause the FLV and also pause the entire timelines inside the swf. Then everything would continue playing when the user would click a "continue" button.

Basically I have a flash presentation that load an external FLV and a bunch of graphics that go with the video. At one point I need everything to pause so a small flash game can come in and the user can play it and then when they are ready to move on they can click "continue" and the FLV would continue where it left off along with the rest of the timeline.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Way To Pause SetInterval

Feb 17, 2010

Wondering if there's anyway this can be done? Or is there anyway you can return the time elapsed since the last function call?

Reason being that I'm using it in a project that really requires the option to pause the game. So I'd need to "pause" an interval when the game is paused and then resume it from where it was stopped when the game is resumed.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Use A SetInterval Somewhere To Have The Forloop Pause Before It Loops Again?

Jun 22, 2008

What I have is the initial forloop that gets the fabric sections. Then a forloop within this loop to get the subsections.the locations of where the thumbs in the subsection should go are stored in the destThumb variables and then fed through to an easing function.however, each subsection group is also aligned depending on the previous subsection._height.So the thumbs are going to their right relative positions,but the subsections are not.'m assuming this is because the ._heights are being calculated instantly as the thumbs are beginning to ease,therefore making subsection only the height of one row of thumbs. canI use a setInterval somewhere to have the forloop pause before it loops again? Allowing time for the thumbs to ease in place creating the final height? this is just the top snippet of code:

for (var i = 0; i<theFabrics.length; i++) {
var storeHeight = materialSection._height;
var storeYLoc = materialSection._y;[code]............

ActionScript 3.0 :: Use The Timer / Setinterval Function To Pause The Animation Between Tweens

May 11, 2009

I have been having trouble with the timer, knowing how to plug into the scripts/Functions the correct way. Below is the script (probably not written as efficently as it could be, but I'm trying) Anyway, the script is uses simple tweens for a movieclip. I would like to use the timer/setinterval function to pause the animation between tweens (Using the event listener after the tween stops to start the interval/pause) Is this the right concept or am I barking up the wrong tree.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Continue Through For Loop When 1st Condition Is Null?

Nov 9, 2011

I'm wrestling with an issue right now and I'm hoping for some help, and more so, I'm hoping I can explain my problem. With the thought of a "fill in the blank/drag and drop/string replacement" interaction, here's how my swf works:

I have a various movie clips that can be dropped on various movie clips.When one movie clip is dropped on another, the corresponding __#__ within myTitle.text will be replaced with a string that is related to the movie clip that was just dropped: i.e. myTitle.text becomes 'This is the most annoying [thing]...'Per that example I just mentioned, in the code below, my for loop searches for __1__ and moves the hTarg movie clips accordingly.Once a __1__ is replaced with the associated string I mentioned, the indexOf the __1__ becomes null because it no longer exists in the string, and the following startRect(s) below also become null.
So, my question is: How do I continue to loop through my for loop if the first index is null? I hope this makes sense, and I'm hoping someone can ituit what I'm trying to do based of my lousy explanation. If more clarification is needed, let me know and I will do my best to further explain.

Flex :: Hold And Continue FOR - LOOP From The Same Spot?

Sep 6, 2011

I got a for/foreach loop the calls a function inside of it. The prolem is that the function being-called doesnt fininsh it's job before the loop goes over again/ Here is my code:

[Code].....

As you can see i want to add an item (notfriend) in MYFRIENDS unction, "notfriend" is defined inside the loop, but by the time "MYFRIENDS" function finish loading the item already changes to the next item even though i was originally refering to the previous item. Is there a way to maybe hold the FORloop until "myfriends" function finish loading.

I wanted to use Eventlistener on "myfriends" function , but then what do i do to stophold the loop? all i know is BREAK-which destroyes the FOR-LOOP and CONTINUE-which continue the loop from the next iterate.

ActionScript 3.0 :: "Pause" The Thread And Continue After An Event Is Finished?

Feb 9, 2010

Often i would like to wait for an event to fire before continuing my code. I hate to have to create tons of functions to fire one after the other in a sequence when it makes much more sense for all the code to be in one function.

So instead of myFunct1() to fire myFunct1_part2 which fires myFunct1_part3, i would like to have all the code of all the functions in myFunct1().

The reason i can't do this is that i continuously need some values that aren't set until an event is fired. This is an example:

ActionScript Code:
var xml:XML;
xmlhandler = new XMLHandler();
xmlhandler.addEventListener("xmlLoaded", function() { xml = xmlhandler.xmldata; });
xmlhandler.loadXML(path);

ActionScript 2.0 :: Have Pause Within 'for Loop' Before It Runs Through Next Loop?

Mar 20, 2007

wondering if anyone knows if its possible to have a pause within a 'for loop' before it runs through the next loop? heres the script i've built up so far, i'm running off other variables and arrays to pull in the logos and the animating in is working fine except that they all run in at the same time, basically what i want is that they would run one after the other with a 5 second gap between them..[code]so i did that and put wait(delay); after the var boxcounter=2; in each of the If statements.. but no luck... can anyone shed any light? or suggest a way it get it to hold for a few seconds before running though the loop again? or am i going about this in completely the wrong way??!

ActionScript 2.0 :: SetInterval Inside A Loop?

how to call a function via setInterval a limited number of times (e.g. 20 times).

Code:
function CallMe(Me){
trace(Me);
}
for(var i:Number = 0; i<=20;i++){
setInterval(CallMe(i),3000);
}

My intention for the above simple code would be to have 'i' get traced every 3 seconds. But it doesn't. 'i' just gets dopped out into the output pane all in one go. Do steady release!

I have some simple code:

function testing(){
for (a=1; a<=4; a++) {
this["btn"+a].enabled = true;
}
}

If i run this function from anywhere it works fine. If i run this function from myTimer = setInteval(testing, 3000); it will not work. If i add other random code into the function it (the newly added code only) will work. So i have narrowed it down to something about this["btn"+a].enabled = true; specifically that is causing it to not run.I really hope this makes sense, appologies, it's 3am :

IDE :: Pause Within A FOR Loop?

Apr 15, 2009

How can I pause within a for loop?

Not do some other function or pause the playhead, just:

for (i=0;i<=10;i++) {
trace(i);
wait for 1 second;

[Code].....

I can't make it wait within the loop. I can use setTimeout or setInterval to delay the calling of the for loop, but once it's called it just flips through all the iterations.
