ActionScript 2.0 :: Adding Ease To A Scripted Tween?
Sep 21, 2005
how do i add an ease to this code:
Code:
new mx.transitions.Tween(logo_mc, "_y", mx.transitions.easing.Regular.easeOut, 500, 306, 2, true);
the 500 and 306 are for the y-pos. and the 2 is the speed.

first frame of my movie i have a stop frame with a simple clip which i tween (tween class) in that same frame. just a white line that comes in and slides down the stage. i'm not preloading this movie itself because it only contains that initial tween and some light actionscript.My tween ends, triggers .onMotionFinished and I load a 1000px x 620px jpeg into a 2nd movie clip and advance to the next frame in the main timeline where I have a 3rd movie clip with a basic preloader bar movie clip inside it.on that 2nd frame i assign an .onEnterFrame function to that 3rd clip like this:
Code:
stop();
preloadClip.onEnterFrame=function(){
bytes_loaded = Math.round(this._parent.picHolder.getBytesLoaded());
bytes_total = Math.round(this._parent.picHolder.getBytesTotal());
[code]....
i usually use .onEnterFrame in this manner to preload stuff into clips with no problems.. for some reason, now my loadBar inside the preload clip gets moved over to the left end of the stage and doesn't appear to register any change in the ._width if i test movie and simulate download.

I've done a very simple tween of 25 lines of text, with one line fading in when the other fades out.The original was a bit different with 3 lines being displayed at the same time, but I needed to make a different version with one line visible only.BUT this new version is giving me weird artifacts on top of the text, like there's some irregular kind of mask on top of each layer.I'm really puzzled....I made it again, starting again from the original, but the same thing happened!!

I have a motion tweened layer that uses 445 frames. However the actual property change occurs from frames 1 - 360. After fr 360, there are no property changes. When I create a simple ease - ease out, set at 100. This ease shows that it takes 445. When I apply the ease to my properties (x and y specifically). The ease appears to be applied and the movement stops at fr 223. So between 223 and 360 there is no movement. The dash line of the ease in the properties motion editor goes diagonally to 223 then flattens out at the top - indicating no movement. How do I get the ease to apply to all 360 frames, and slowing down up to 360, rather than earlier than that?

I've set a hover on and hover off tween to a certain element in flash, where you hover over an element, and an informational window slides in off the bottom, and when you hover off it slides back. Hover, when I hover off before the hover on animation is over, the given object jumps to the end of the first animation and back. How do I make the animation ease in and out when someone hovers over something?
function initialPlacement() {
block1.x = (-814);
block1.y = (stage.stageHeight - 100);
} initialPlacement();
tension.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER,hover1);

I am very new to actionscript and I want to make an object rotate 360degrees. I could do it with keyframes, but I want the rotation to ease in. I _KNOW_ it's possible to set up the object to rotate with an ease using actionscript.

Is it possible to tween an object, but have it move along its path without any easing or duration, so it always moves at the same pace. For instance, if the path were looping around the screen, and zig zagging, or w/e it does; it would always go at the same speed, like 2 pixels a second. I use TweenMax.

I'm messing around with the Tween Class. Does anyone know how to make a number of objects, say 5 squares, shift horizontally from one starting point on the stage (left side) and stop at the right side, but stop them so that the spacing of squares is end to end. The first square shifts, then stops at the far right. The second stops next to the first and so on.
The tween is a Regular EaseOut, so the squares appear to bounce off the right wall as they stop.
The following code slides the squares and bounces them, but all squares overlap at the end of the animation. I need the ending _x distance to offset somehow.

I have encountered an interesting situation, I would like to simulate a ball thrown by a goalkeeper from top. Ball is going to move from right to left, it is small at the beginning, getting bigger at the half, because it gains height, and small again at the end. The scenario is this. And I do not want to use any actionscript code because of the performance loss caused by the event listeners.
How can I simulate two different kinds of tween (horizontal move is without ease and vertical move is with easeOut and easeIn) in the design environment of Flash cs5.5
By the way, I have already tried using actionscript code however, because there so many concurrent event, a little lag is occured at the beginning of each tween start.

I want to alpha tween (ease in from 0 to 1) an object on stage over 25 frames. And after the tween is over i want the object to persist on the stage and in the timeline. How can i do that?afaik i have to extend the tween in the timeline beyond the keyframe with 1 alpha. But when i do that this also extends the time of the tween from 0 to 1 and it actually lowers the alpha 1 in the keyframe automatically to some figure that fits with the ease in which apparently spans the entire tween.

Is there a way to increase the ease in and ease out effect? It will only let you choose -100 to 100, and I've messed around with the length of the tween, and the FPS of the movie, but I want the acceleration to be greater.

I have a simple motion tween from fr 1 - 52 (x and y property movement only). I create a custom ease - standard 100 ease in and then a 100 ease out. When this ease is applied to the motion, the ease "happens" after fr 52. So the object does not stop until fr 63 (eased out at 63. How can I get the ease to match / ease out to the last keyframe on 52, rather than 63??? See the attached image of the motion editor.

I made a scrolling gallery of thumbnails. It extends for 25 frames, and has two buttons (play and rewind). I have it set up so that if you hold down on either button, you continuously scroll until you reach the end or beginning of the animation. Then, along the timeline, I have spots chosen for the scroll to stop if you are not holding down on one of the buttons.
What I want to happen now, is for the animation to easeIn to the stop points on the time line if you are not holding down on the scroll buttons, but play smoothly if you are holding them down. Does anyone know I way to do this?

I have added a fly in right to a symbol and I want to add a fly out right after a certain number of frames. I've been through a tutorial on Lynda of the new CS4 tweening, but what I cannot figure out is how to add the second motion to the new motion tween. When I try to select the last frame or add a new keyframe past the last frame, Flash asks me if I want to replace the existing tween. I can't figure out how, like in classic tweening, to add a fade out, e.g., to the existing item after so many frames.

I'm querying the Rotten Tomatoes API for Upcoming Movies. For each movie returned, I'm creating an instance of MovieIcon (MC). I'm then adding this MC as a child of a Container MovieClip that's already on the scene. Each time, I'm incrementing the xPosition of each MovieIcon MC such that, they're positioned next to each other.My container MC has a mask applied to it, therefore any child objects that are positioned beyond the size of the mask, they're are hidden from view. How can I dynamically add a tween/easing animation between all these MovieIcon MC's so that when I hover over the Container MC, it 'scrolls' left or right, depending on the mouse motion?

I don't have much action script experience at all but If someone could point me in the right direction it would be awesome....I have an image gallery supplied from xml. I want to add a tween to each image as it opens, so far it works on only the first image, I'm guessing I need to create a mc for each image that is loaded so each mc can have a tween? I really need some direction this is what I have so far:

I have a MC with a sprite in it. I give it a wee tween
Tweener.addTween(mainImageBox, {height:355, time:1, delay:1, transition:"elastic"});
All fine and dandy but when I add a child
mainImageBox.addChild(loaderAnimationMC);
The child (loaderAnimationMC) is all scaled up, is there a way to prevent this?

I am trying to create an effect where my movieclip appears to float in space-like a particle suspended in liquid. Actually, that's exactly what it is I've managed to make it randomly move around, but this code just makes it seem to jump around jerkily. I'd like to smooth out the transitions with a tween but am having a heck of a time figuring out how to do it.
Here's the code (mc is the movieclip):
var timer:Timer=new Timer(1000,100000000);
timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, floatMC);
timer.start();

created a movieclip with a motion tween and I added it to the stage with the following code: var pop:msgBox = new msgBox; addChild(pop); //the msgBox is the class name of the movieclip and the pop is the name of the instance of it the problem is that the animation isn't played correctly. for instance, I drew a rectangle and converted it to a movieclip symbol and then I reconverted it inside itself to a graphic symbol. I created a motion tween that enlarge the movieclip shape, but when I added it with the above code, it start to animate correctly but over its iteration it start to behave not correctly. it seems that flash pro adding a new instance in each iteration that overlap on the previous one.

Ok so I found this nice code over at Prototype. Its a function for Aligning to stage on Resize. [URL] It works really nice on its own but I was hoping to add some tweened easing as an additional optional parameter. (I posted there twice asking for help to no avail =( So I am asking here at Kirupa. What I wish to add is - implementing and adding an "easing" function as part of the current function. Something generalized to be called only if desired and the ability to set the ease type, duration, maybe prop etc.. (or whatever needed to make it work)
I have tried all kinds of things and below is as close as I can come (at least the only thing I can do to get the thing to move, although as you will see it works backwards and I can only get it to work using stage.width, stage.height, however I have tried newX oldX and all kinds of other things and cant seem to get things to move.

I have several objects on the stage and a MouseOver on any of these will add a menu popup child and tween it from off the stage. A MouseOut will tween the menu away and remove the menu with removeChild. Heres the bug: If I mouse out and then quickly mouse over the same object while the menu is tweening away before it has been removed, it doesn't add the menu again, and then on the next mouse out, it tries to remove the child menu, which isn't currently a child because it was just removed, and
I get the error:
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter child must be non-null.
at flash.display:isplayObjectContainer/removeChild()
at menucaller/tweenOffTimerEnd()
at flash.utils::Timer/_timerDispatch()
at flash.utils::Timer/tick()
Is there a way I can use an if statement to make sure that the menu is a child of the parent before removing it?

Code:
mc1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,Click);
mc1.buttonMode = true;
function Click(e:Event):void{
trace("btn clicked");
}
mc2.gotoAndStop(5); If i have an mc(mc2)that is scripted and is overlapping or on top of a btn(mc1) i have on stage, the portion of the btn that is covered by the mc on top cannot be detected by any event listener.It is "blocked" by the mc on top.
But mc2 doesnt have a MouseEvent added to it, so it is not a btn which is y i dont get it as i'm transiting frm AS2 to AS3. How shuld i script for the above scenario so that the area "overlapped" can still receive the MouseEvent added to it?
Pls do not tell me to shift the mc forward....there r cases in web development where u happen to have translucent graphics or a movieclip wif image sequences playing in front of a set of btns.

I have a client who is IN LOVE with this site: http:[url]...I was just getting ready to start tweening and wondered if there's a way to script masks to do the same thing easily...NOT on mouse drag, but on the click of the button. I found a nice tutorial which will make a similar thing happen when you drag the mouse. But when I tried to target x and y the whole thing fell apart.
