ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash CS3 - Sam_MC Stops Moving And No Other Action Is Taken When The If Statement Containing GotoAndPlay Becomes True

The gotoAndPlay option isn't kicking in here. The object "sam_MC" proceeds along the specified root. But when the if statement containing gotoAndPlay becomes true, sam_MC simply stops moving and no other action is taken. When sam_MC's x coordinate becomes less or greater than a specified amount, I want the flash movie to restart. My code is located on the first frame of a layer I have named "actions." Here it is.

I have a slideshow that is looped ... it contains 5 slides.I am using a gotoandPlay action to control the slide show.

There is a fade transition between slides.When a button is released ... I want to gotoandPlay (frame 98) ... and then have it stop 10 frames later on (frame 108). Frame 98 includes the transition ... if I just gotoandStop on frame 108 ... I loose the transition.Is there any way to incorporate a stop action, after a gotoandPlay action on my button ... without naming instances etc.I.E.

on (release) {
this._parent.gotoAndPlay("98");
STOP ON FRAME 108 INTEGRATED HERE
}

Everything I have attempted is not working.

Im building a sample pad type instrument for a project, i have four channels for four different instruments the interface has four buttons to select the instrument, when the button is selected the image should be green but when another instrument is selected it should go to the second frame of the movie clip which is a red button to signal them instrument is off.

Line 23 i added a conditional statment for the variable associated with the channels it doesnt spit out any errors but also doesnt change the image when i click another button anyone know where im going wrong

I'm new to AS3 and Flash as a whole, but a decent programmer in Java and C,C#. The problem I have is this: No matter what I do, that "IF" statement ALWAYS executes, even if it shouldn't, and musn't, as said by the trace(isfirst), which outputs a 0, which means the IF is not supposed to execute. AKA: It displays first! and 0 every time it gets to frame 61, thus bringing me to the home page no matter what.

I am definitely not competent with code in any significant way, and although I am confident that this code is even Action Script 2, I am not certain.A client has requested that I make a simple rolling filmstrip that loops with pictures. For this I searched the Internet for hours looking for a tutorial or a downloadable Flash file that has something close to what I want. Surprisingly, amid the dozens of purchasable applications and such I stumbled across, it seemed that none had exactly what I was wanting, which seems simple.

Anyway, I was able finally to find something useful.It allowed me to do what I wanted fairly simply.However, there are two things that I cannot figure out.The original "template" file was designed so that the filmstrip moves automatically, but when the cursor is hovered over the strip, the speed of the movement increases either way relative to how close to either horizontal edge the cursor is.

I went in and edited the code to turn that off. Now, the strip stops moving whenever the cursor is on the left side of the strip, and starts when it is on the right side. Also, the strip does not start automatically on most browsers I have viewed it on.The Action Script is posted below:

I have an main.swf that loads home.swf on the stage. In home there are mc's that when clicked take you to  different frames inside home.swf I need to have a gotoAndPlay eventlistener off a button which would take the user back to frame one of home.the home .swf has 6 frames with different clips in each frame on one layer, text for the back to first frame on another layer, an invisible btn and an actions on two separate layers
 
first question :
 
the individual frames are 7-8-9 the gotoAndPlay action is on frame 7 ONLY the button only works when in frame 7 if 8-9 are not individual blanks why doesn't the button work when in frames 8 and 9?In other words can't I use an action that triggers a function assigned to a button that spans across more than one frame?if the button spans across 7 - 8 - 9 and the action frame is on 7 how can I get this to work?

I have a movie clip (movieA_mc) that I attach (using attachMovie) to the main movie. This movie moves when I move the mouse over it. I then attach (using attachMovie) another movie (movieB_mc) to movieA_mc. movieB_mc has a button in it.

When I movie the mouse over movieA_mc it works fine, but when I put the mouse over movieB_mc, movieA_mc stops moving.

I have a MC called Robot. It is animated with keyframes so that my robot appears to walk. There is an Action on frame 8 that says, "gotoAndPlay(1)".When the user pushes the arrow keys, I want to MC to move in the direction of the press arrow. I also want the MC to start playing at keyframe 9 so it plays the walking animation.

This all works but with one small problem. If the arrow key is held down, the "gotoAndPlay(9)" stops the animation from playing, instead showing only the graphic that is on the 9nth keyframe.

Is there a way to call a function once and play the MC frames until the arrow key is not pressed? I think the problem I am having is that if the key is held down, the EventListener keeps running and starting the MC in the same frame instead of allowing the MC to play as I want it to.

I am trying the get the center movie to stop remaining centered with the scaling movie when It gets less than 200 pixels of the left hand margin. x.200 and stop being centered on the y axis also at 100 pixels y.100 Here is the current code I was trying to write that is positioned on the object: Just avoid the comments, just left them there for reference to what's in my movie. The idea behind this app is that its an electronic form. The user fills it out, the information is then sent to a newly created XML file, months later the open the XML file in flash, and Flash fills out text fields and check and or unchecks Checkboxes based on the XML data.CheckBoxes are mandatory.But I don't see how I'll be able to use them if i can't create and condition statements based on the loaded Data.
