ActionScript 2.0 :: Keeping Track Of 4 Button Presses

Jan 14, 2009

I'm attempting to create a few very simple flash games, but I haven't been able to figure out the coding. What I am attempting is to have 4 buttons each activated on a different keypress. Each time a user presses one of the keys, a specific animation is triggered, showing that the key was pressed. What I need to know is- how do I have flash trigger a final animation when all four keys have been pressed?

I tried making a set of dynamic text boxes that would change text, one for each button. I figured flash could run a simple string check (like in the basic password tutorial here) and if they all proved true it could goto and play the next scene or another MC. BUT- It seems to only check at the beginning of the movie, and if I attached it to onEnterFrame, Flash would have a cow about my syntax!

ActionScript 2.0 :: Keeping Track Of Which Clip Is Open?

Aug 5, 2004

I have three movie clips which launch three different sections of my flash site when clicked. These clips are tiny images of three products.

When you click them I want another group of 3 clips which contain animations of the products zooming in to play an appropriate frame when they are clicked to zoom in.

Then, once the animation is done... the appropriate section loads.

Here is the problem. I can do the button actions fine. BUT -- When the next product has to zoom up I cannot get the one that is already zoomed up to zoom down and then play the next products zoom up animation.

Anyone know of a way to track and update the states of these? Or determining which of the 3 products was clicked and let them zoom in and out dynamically?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Keeping Track Of Loaded Movies?

how to keep track of loaded MCs? I have a navigation system loading content MCs. The problem is, when I choose another nav button, I want it to (onPress) figure which clip is currently loaded then gotoAndPlay a frame label in that clip, which will play an exit animation and load the content area corresponding to the newly pressed button.

Someone on Flashkit suggested having the loaded content MC send a variable to the main time line to act as a kind of flag to say which section is active but I'm not sure how to go about doing this.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keeping Track Of Movie Timeline Calls?

Sep 4, 2009

I may be chewed out for my methodology of how I'm developing this application which I am okay with as long as it enables me to be a better developer.That being said, I was wondering: how do all of you track movie timeline calls?I am building a web site for my company similar to 2advanced as there's just A LOT of graphic elements and animation. Because there are so many calls and a lot of the look is based on one element being called simultaneously and/or exactly after another element I'm having a hard time keeping track of all the calls(yes....I'm doing ALL of these calls in the timeline). Right now I have a hand-drawn tree diagram and it just keeps getting larger and larger.

On another note is there a better way of doing playing each graphic element than "gotoAndPlay" commands on the timeline? I realize that I could have done all of this in external files, but if that's the case then I imagine I would be doing the same thing and just creating a bunch of classes.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [FMX] When The Squares Come To An Hold There Is A Little Gap Between Them Underneath The Button That Was Presses And The Button Is Going 20 Pixels Down Into That Gap?

Apr 15, 2004

I'm making a menu. It consist of three mc's (btn1, btn2 and btn3) and two squares The two squares rescale horizontal in different directions depending on the button that is presses. When the squares come to an hold there is a little gap between them underneath the button that was presses and the button is going 20 pixels down into that gap. Below is the code I have used:

Code:
MovieClip.prototype.yPos = function(y){
this.onEnterFrame = function(){
this._y += (y - this._y)/3;

[code]....

When the movie starts everything is fine. First the two squares are rescaling. When that is done the buttons are fading in and finaly btn1 is going 20 pixels down in to the gap. But what I would like to accomplish now is that when btn2 is pressed that first btn1 is going back up again when that is done that the two squares are rescaling untill the gap is below btn2 and that after that btn 2 is going down 20 pixels.

And that is where I have problems. Point one when I don't know how to integrate a if (if used) in the button event, so everything is going to move at the same time(btn2 already moves before the squares are in place and the squares are already moving before btn1 is back up again) and secondly the way I have it now btn1 is indeed moving back up again, but after that its up it also going back down again.

How would I script that?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keeping Movie Clip Button On Down Frame?

Oct 5, 2009

I'm trying to get them so that if mc1 is clicked then it will stay at the "over" frame and if mc2 is clicked mc1 will revert back to the "out" frame while the second will stay on its "over" frame.What seems to be happening in my code is that the MOUSE_OUT event is overriding the MOUSE_DOWN event. So, when I take the mouse off after I've clicked mc1 the over state goes away.I've tried many of my own failed ideas and search the internet for hours trying to figure this out.Here's my code thus far:

IF Statements - Creating Next Track Button

Apr 25, 2009

I'm trying to make a "next track" button. "T" is meant to be track number, and every time they click this button, I wanted "T" to increase by one until T>4 where I need it to go back to T=1 (I've only got 4 tracks). Then, I want, depending on what "T" equals, for it to start playing Track"T" and stop playing previous track. I also want the track playing to be looping continuously. At the moment, everything is muted, until I press the button; where it then plays all four tracks at once. I also have a problem with the mute button, but I've got a strong feeling both are of the same reason. I think my problem is that it does not know what "T" equals to begin with so it accepts all if statements; playing all tracks. But I'm new to Flash (my second project) so I'm not sure.

on (release){
stopAllSounds();
T =T+1
if (T>4){
T=1
} if (T = 1){
_root.snd1.start(0, 100);

ActionScript 2.0 :: Keeping A Disabled Button Disabled After Navigating Away From The Frame

Aug 2, 2008

I'm making a VERY basic Jeopardy game, and I need buttons to be disabled after being clicked on once.

Oh, and I'm working in CS3, but I'm using AS 1&2 because that's what I learned... I have no idea how to use AS 3...

example: frame 1 has btn11 in it. btn11 when clicked takes the person to frame 2. when done with frame 2, they click on return.

the return button (btnReturn1) has the following AS

on (release) {
gotoAndStop ("Round1",1)
btn11.enabled=false;
}

the problem is that it works at first - the button disables when I get back to frame 1, but the next time I click a different button then return to frame 1, the first button I disabled isn't disabled anymore.

my actionscript so that my disabled buttons stay that way no matter how many times I come and go from the frame? or if you have a better way to do it, that'd be great. basically, it's like the jeopardy screen, and after "songs" for 200 is clicked, I don't want it to be clickable again at all.

Stop Sound From Going Into Next Scene While Keeping Button Sound?

Oct 19, 2010

I'm sure this is a common problem, I tried looking around on the forum for a problem like mine but was unable to find anything. I'm using Flash CS3, Actionscript 2.0, and am making a soundboard. I have two scenes, one that's the title screen, of which has a sound file loaded via the timeline, (I think) set to Event and Loop, and a button which takes you to the next scene and makes a short sound when it's pressed. My second scene has background music as well, also set to Event and Loop.

Problem is that when I press the button, the background music keeps playing into the next scene. I tried using putting stopAllSounds onto the button, but that makes the sound of the button stop as well, and I'd really like to keep it. I've been messing with this for days, and I can't figure it out.
