ActionScript 3.0 :: BlendMode.LAYER / ALPHA /w Code?
Aug 24, 2009How can I punch out a alpha hole with the blue circle in the red circle with code? I can't wrap my head around setting up the blendMode properties.

View 1 RepliesI've been searching for the formula used intrinsically in Flash but I couldn't find anything. Does anybody know how the result colors are obtained when the 'layer' blend mode is chosen for the upper object? I thinks it's done separately in each channel using the transparency values.There might be some bitwise operations going on there but I'm not sure.
View 7 Repliesi have a timeline animation inside a movieclip.it contains bitmaps. when i set the movieclip's alpha 50 etc, i cant see the alpha effect on the bitmaps except for bottom layer.that simple animation seems like these and i cant understand this situation
View 7 RepliesI have an .5 alpha layer that I want to fade out when any 1 of 5 buttons is clicked.
1) The alpha layer is on the screen, but its not at 50%, its solid
2) Its not fading when a button is clicked
3) Its not in the right position
4) I am getting an output error message that says:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::MovieClip@3f7e34c1 to colorbars.
at flash.display::MovieClip/gotoAndPlay()
at Colorwheel/goColor()[Colorwheel::frame1:17] (
This code is telling the int_btn to go to the alpha layer frame, which continues thru frames 1 and 8) the code they are referring to is on frame 1 with a button that is also on frame 8 that I don't want the mouse up function to affect the alpha layer. The 4 other buttons on frame 8 should affect the alpha layer. The code on frame 8 tells the mouse up function to fade out the alpha layer:
var colorscreen:colorbars = new colorbars;addChild(colorscreen) //this is working its the alpha layer mccolorscreen.x = 0;
//this is not workingcolorscreen.y = 51;
colorscreen.height = 513;colorscreen.width = 612;colorscreen.alpha = .5; //not working
// all buttons below work but wont fadeout the alpha layer
[Code] .....
How do I tell it not to listen to the int_btn on mouse up? Should I be using an array or enter_frame or remove event listener or use all three to achieve my goal of fading out the alpha layer when any of the 4 btns are clicked?
I would like to create a dynamic 3 layer image that can have any of the 3 layers changed. i was thinking of doing this with alpha mapping where I have a back, middle, and front layer each defined by an alpha map. So if the style or shape of these changed I just render the texture with a new alpha map to define what portion actually takes the texture. So for each of the 3 layers there is a type(defines the shape), the texture which is applied to the shape, and an alpha map that is used to specify how the shape takes the image.
Imagine a fruit basket that can have the fruit switched out or the basket, and any combination of textures applied. You could potentially see the inside of the basket which may have a different texture than the outside. The fruit would all be one image that would then fit into the basket, and finally the basket would render. Then if you swap the color of the basket but keep the same model it would update, and you could then swap the model of the basket and keep the same color. But i'd want to do it where I have 1 texture that can fit over all the baskets but is just chopped off using alpha mapping.
Inside movieClip container, there are colored buttons on layer1 and on layer2 there is movieClip square which covers the buttons. I want to use the color efffects and blending options of movieClip square to make layer 1 alpha. There are some blending options called alpha, difference, lighten and substract but Im not getting the right combinations. I want to make layer1 alpha only by using layer2.
View 1 RepliesThe thing is, I am coloring though code the parts of a body, which is a movieclip composed by other movieclips. I am coding in AS2, using the setRGB function from the Color class. Everything is working ok, but there is one arm that is not being colored.
This arm actually is in one layer with several keyframes, half of them have one symbol, and the other half have another symbol. Both symbols represent the arm in different positions. Now, even though they are different symbols, I have named both instances with the same name, but with this solution the arm is not being colored. So I tried to remove the keyframes with the second symbol, and then it got colored.
To sum up, I dont know how to reach all the symbols in different keyframes of the same layer through code.
Don't know if the flash layer on the view stack contain only the compiled flash swf file
View 1 RepliesI have a complex window I'm designing in code. It starts as a button-like thing and once clicked, expands out to a window with text, links, and other misc. stuff. I'm designing it with all the objects to start inside the custom object (extending a MovieClip) and use tweening to expand it all out. The expansion works fine, although it's admittedly ugly..I'm running into an issue when alphaing from nothing (the button is placed over text, completely alpha'ed out to start) to 1.0. It will only start to alpha in if I have the alpha start at greater than 0, even then, when it reaches 1.0, it is NOT full alpha as it should be. Here's what I'm doing, trying to keep what I suspect to be unrelated code out:[code]the alpha of the bg (a shape) is originally set to 0, this code gives me no alpha, if I start it at 0.1, then it gives me some ...what looks like 0.3 at the most
View 5 RepliesInside a mc on the first frame I have put the following alpha AS fade in;
[Code]...
But this last bit of code gets totally ignored and it doesnt fade out. I know it works because I have tested it in the first frame. Does the last bit of code in the first frame set the alpha for the rest of the mc and override anything else?
We have a flash vector type map with pan and zoom ability and need to have layer1 which features a simple flash vector map visible from the initial overview until when the user has zoomed in to a certain amount when a more detailed layer2 flash vector map then appears and layer1 disappears. I would imagine a code turning off or on visibility of a layer dependent upon the zoom is what we need.
View 1 RepliesIs there any method with which I can get to know which of the two movieclips I'm using is lying above or below in the timeline 'layer' arrangement in flash.
what I'm asking is if have two movieclips 'a' and 'b'. One in layer 10 of timeline of flash professional and 'b' on layer 1. Will be able to change the index order using pure as3 code to visually keep the movieclip on the 10th layer on top of the movieclip on 1st layer?
I am working on a project in flash cs4 and have Adobe Air 1.5 as player as this will be air appi. But other than using localstore to save my data everything else is pure flash as3 code. Nothing special really. And I was just about to finish it when this problem occurred. If I delete a layer that has nothing else but a picture inside which I was using to position movies correctly, everything in frame 3 where my main code is stops working. It doesn't trace anything, it just stops but actions on frame 1 and 2 work just fine. I don't get any errors either.
I deleted all the code from my main action layer in frame 3 and it still doesn't trace simple trace("aa");. As if everything I've put on the layers can't be changed or it just stops working. Same thing if I change a sound in the library, just updating it with another and it stops working. I just can't find the answer really. I rearranged things, deleted movies, basically everything and still no answer. I even tested it in flash cs3 and same thing happens. But I used this kind of methods before (deleting layers that I didn't need) and never had this problem before.
I made a button a stage, and I want the button to take the user to a separate scene that I have named "Biography page" when it is clicked. The thing is, I want all my actions on one specific layer. So I made an instance name for my button, "aboutme". The thing is... I have no idea how to write the code.
[Code]....
i'm currently having a small problem with some Actionscript 2.0 in CS3. I'm following a tutorial to make a simple maze like game Tutorial here: [URL] I'm currently at step 5 where it's coding the movement and wall detection.. The problem is the tutorial wants me to apply the code directly to the maze/wall movieclip. However as this is for a college project my lecturer will not accept actionscript directly applied to buttons or movieclips.. He basically wants all the script on a seperate actionscript layer. So basically what i'm asking is how and what part of the code do i need to change so it'll still work even though it's on a different layer!
[Code]...
The following class works fine when calling it through document properties panel.
How can I access the same by writing code (to call the class) in first frame of my project?
The following is the Class (Code):
[Code]...
1061: Call to a possibly undefined method init through a reference with static type Snow.
What is the equivalent alpha code to setRGB?Ps Im trying to change this code so it contorls the alpha of a movie clip instance name circle the code is bellow:
Code:
onClipEvent(enterFrame){
_parent.alpha = (_parent.RedSlider.RedControlBar._y+122).toString(16);
if (length(_parent.alpha) == 1)
_parent.alpha = "0" + _parent.alpha;
[code]....
The following code works fine but always on Top Layer. How can I bring it down?
Code:
var mySwf1:SWFLoader = new SWFLoader("AnalogClock.swf", {width:225, height:225, container:this, onComplete:completeHandler1});
mySwf1.load();[code]....
how to create the proper Actionscript code that will control the Alpha Transparency of a MC I want as a preloader. I want the MC to start of at 100% alpha-transparency, and then decrease to 0% alpha-transparency when the whole Scene is loaded. Also, it should show the precentage of the Scene loaded. I have the code that I thought would work to control the alpha transparency of the mc and loading it. But, I get confused with the perloader code to incorporate into the alpha transparency code? Does this make sense; is it possible?In Leaman's Terms, As the scene loads, the mc goes from invisible to visible at completion of the scene load.
Here is the code:
Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
loading = _parent.getBytesLoaded();
total = _parent.getBytesTotal();
[code]....
Now, I have no idea if and where you'd include the poper code to control the mc's alpha transparency based on the percentage of the scene loaded? Can someome maybe rework the code to make this work. And use a working example, that way I see it working to fully understand the concept? The mc's instance name is "sm_logo". Where would I use the instance name in this code, or better yet the proper code alltogether?
I can't seem to find the correct as3 code to change a movie clip's alpha.
View 4 RepliesSo you've got a transparent png. Rather than importing that png with its alpha channel, I've always assumed it's better to import it with a black or white matte, then use Flash's blend modes (lighten, darken, screen, multiply) to show the transparency.Am I right on this, or does it make no difference in terms of cpu usage?I do believe that in terms of filesize, the matte saves quite a bit over the alpha channel.
View 5 RepliesDoes Flash Player 9's BlendMode ability transpose to normal bitmap data (JPG, PNG, etc.) outside or beneath the SWF? I have a movieclip that I'm trying to blend with an HTML background like Photoshop. It currently doesn't react to the options I've tried.
View 2 RepliesSet 2 MovieClips on the stage each having a rectangle in it which have different colors. Put them one over another and apply to the top one some blend mode that shows some visual difference. Ok so what I need to do now is grab the bitmapData from both and redraw it into a single MovieClip, so what I need is to merge the 2 bitmapData, which worked fine without a blendMode, but I can't get it to work right with blendMode[code]...
View 3 RepliesI am trying to erase one movieclip from another using the blendmode="erase" setting, but can only get it to work on the stage as the parent. This means it erases a hole through everything! The attachmovie also doesn't seem to work as I was expecting and I was hoping that when you drag the movieclip, the attached clip would move with it? If you check out the FLA [URL] you can see whats happening right now and what I want to achieve (diagrams provided in FLA).
View 1 RepliesOverlay blending mode in flash on trasnaprent, imported images, doesn't work properly! It leaves dimmed black background instead of transparency. Same thing is in CS4 and in CS5. What is even more weird is that in Flash preview stage window everything is fine, and it works, but after publishing the SWF, you can see black background.I looked for workaround that...no success. No one answeres to this question.
-I tried with 24png, 8png, gif with different settings. No success.
-Tried also with After Effects, and then export to SWF, it works surprisingly.
Im trying to create a 'neon glow effect thru a combination of both BlendModes and glow filter Problem is, they seem to cancel each other out if applied together...not having any luch doing this dynamically.
View 1 RepliesI'm loading a batch of 50 jpgs and once loaded, on enter frame, I'd like to change their alpha individually and apply BlendMode.ADD to all of them (also individually).
I can do this easy using normal Sprite objects, but this is not efficient enough (processor wise). I've played a bit with BitmapData.draw(source, null, null, BlendMode.Add) and that's still not efficient enough.
So I was wondering if I could achieve similar effect using copyPixels (which I know should be more efficient). Still, I'm a bit clueless on how could I apply BlendMode and alpha on a bitmapData object (I mean, I know I can't, but I was wondering if I could make this work using Matrix and filter manipulations).
Could someone take a look at this fla and tell me how I can take the code in the "random" layer, and create a function, much like the startMove function at the bottom that stops the movement of the bars moving around and moves them back to their initial _x positioning. The bars that get moved around are in the "trend bars" layer. There seem to be a lot of ways to do this but since there are only going to be 6 bars, I would be open to a funciton that hard coded the initial target _x positioning in for each bar and then stopping the movement
View 2 Repliesi've a problem with a MC containing 3 3D nested animated MC. When i place this MC on the main TLine, it give me
error #2007 Parameter blendMode must be non-null.
The I tried to set the blendmode of the 3 nested MC in the nested timeline:
nestedMC.blendMode = BlendMode.NORMAL;
but it keep giving me error...
so, a blendMode seems to break on a nested movieclip in FP10 when you change a 3d propery of the parent clip? rotationY, rotationZ, etc...Example here (sorry, not enough posts to actually link):
ActionScript Code:
import flash.utils.*;
import flash.display.*;
