View 2 RepliesI am building an application that is to run at 2 difference stage sizes. 960x640 and 1024x768 (for those paying attention, you may note that those are the high res settings for the iPhone and iPad2)The app was designed and build to run on a stage of 960x640 and when running at this size, there are no problems.When the app loads in the 1024x768 window, it "strechs" the stage to fill the window, but keeps the aspect ratio. Everything looks good and the application runs without any problems expect for one thing.Sometimes, display objects on the stage "jitter" when moving or animating. I have discovered that this is because the stage is "scaling" the x and y values, and is not pixel snapping the objects on the screen, even though the x and y values of the display object are indeed whole numbers.A prime example of this is I have 2 bitmapData images. bmData_s and bmData_h. bmData_s is 192x388 in size.bmData_h is created from a copy of bmData_s with a glow filter stroke on it, resulting in a image that is 198x394 (6 pixels bigger due to a 3 pixel stroke)I place it on the screen using the following code:[code]
Now, when the app runs on the iPhone which is a 960x640 screen size, or on the PC which is using a window of similiar size, the image doesn't appear to move at all the "stroke" appears and disappears exactly as it is suppose to However, when I run it in a window that is 1024x768, the _h image appears to "jump" one pixel up.I have encountered many other similiar things that only occure when the stage is scaled. There is a spot in the app where I am animating a bitmap by manipulating it's scrollrect x and width (have it's do a wipe in from right to left like a peice of paper unrolling on a table) and due to the scaling, the right edge of the image jumps left and right 1 pixel but on 960x640 screens, it looks perfect.Does anyone know how I can compensate for this effect so that this jumping doesn't occur when the stage is stretched to fit the window it's running in?
I am building an AIR application which opens some specific documents. I want to enable dragdrop on this application. So that when application is running and user drag a file and drop that file on the application window, the application must respond to that event and must be able to perform some action.

Seems the dragEnter event fires just fine, but the dragDrop event does not.
I am trying to create basically a puzzle in Flex Builder 3. I display images from an array onto a canvas that can be dragged and dropped around the canvas. My problem is that I don't want the images to be able to overlap each other. how to prevent this?? They can overlap as you drag but not when dropped, they need to "snap" to the nearest point that is not already occupied by another image.
View 1 RepliesI have a simple drag and drop, and wanted to change the state of the drop target on a match. It works as expected, but then there the state changes back to normal (or the itemrenderer is refreshing). I am guessing there is either an override that i need to do, or in need to flag it to not refresh, but having no luck.

I need to have a series of four numbers appear randomly with fade in and out and stay on screen for a couple of seconds each. These are then linked through to separate movie instances that display relevant information regarding that number and then go back to the random numbers. There are options to randomly display text from an external file, but not library objects within the same movie. I have a cobbled together version using scenes and timeline animation, but it's repetitive. It needs to be more random and effective as a visual element.

View 2 RepliesEverything seems to be a string right now & that kinda ruins the whole xml as an internal data structure thing, I don't need a big tree of string I need typed data :-/ Are there any changes I can make to either my XML files or my AS3 code that will force it to cast ints as ints and Numbers as Numbers? Or maybe some kind of type schema I can impose? Not really worked with XML til recently so chances are I'm just ignorant of the canonical way to deal with this...

Ive posted the fla, and what i'm doing is generating a random number and putting it into an array then using a for loop to cycle through the array for each new random number to check if its already there. if it is, then i want to regenerate that number.
if you test the fla you'll see that all i get in my array is some lovely zero's and i sort of know why this is, but don't know how to stop it.
I am trying to convert a string having numbers to an integer.

But it is not able to convert correctly as the the var res now has the value 100000000000000000. I know that the number has 52 bits of memory, then why is it not able to do the conversion?

View 8 Repliescreate a function that picks out X amount of numbers from a set of numbers? So if X=3, then i need this function to pick out 3 different numbers from say a set of numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) and then stored it into X number of variables.
In saying that, X will only =2, and =5. So in the first instance, i'll need 2 random numbers from the set above that are not the same numbers, and second instance 5 random numbers from the set above (also no repeats of numbers). Then i need to be able to store those 2 or 5 different random numbers from the set into variables to call them with other functions.
I have an AIR application that will go full screen when the application starts:
stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE; The stage size is 2560 x 1024. And I have 2 moniters (1280 x 1024 , 1280 x 1024) When I start the application, it shows my application on one of my moniter only.
I need the left side of the stage to be shown in moniter 1 and right side of the stage to be shown in moniter 2. Currently, both sides are shown in moniter 1, and in moniter 2, it shows nothing but my default desktop. *The blue color line is a divider for better visual purpose. How do I make the left side of the stage to appear in moniter 1 and right side of the stage to appear in moniter 2 when the application starts in full screen mode?
Is a command for AS2 to make my movie file play fullscreen (stretch, fit to screen, anything).
goFullScreen(); is great but it leaves white bars left and right. What's odd is that I'm using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and it seems to display a perfect widescreen that I want as an input and output but once compiled in flash, it's more square leaving me with white bars left and right. The frame for the video in flash is also widescreen looking.
edit: I ended up stretching the width of the frame but if there is a better way through a command that would make my life easier so I don't have to adjust to every monitor that I run this on.

I have been using Actionscript 3.0 in Adobe Flash Builder for a few weeks,and I really like it! Bare with me because I'm not really good at it, yet. I'm creating a flash site. I want the flash movie to fill the entire browser window. What size should I make the canvas, I've been experimenting with sizes and a canvas size of 750*370 fills my browser well on a resolution of 800*600
How do you accomodate different resolution settings? What's the most commonly used canvas size for this type of project.
I'm adapting this iTunes coverflow style gallery for my own purpose [URL] Basically, the locations of the artwork and the URLs for when you click on a picture are stored in an XML file. Is it possible to adapt the AS or XML so that instead of opening a URL, clicking on a cover jumps to a particular frame on the timeline? Basically what I want to do is have the first and last items acting as previous and next buttons to go to a different frame on the timeline. I guess what i need to do is get the actionscript to do whatever is within and replacing that with the action I want it to perform?

View 7 RepliesWhat I created was just a test but I can't seem to get it working. What I did was create a very small rectangle at frame 1. Created a tween and then at frame 100 made it a very large rectangle.
Then in my code I wanted the user to MOUSE_OVER something and the rectangle to ease to the length it was at frame 30. However I keep getting this error message:
