Alright so I have 5 buttons going across a page, and when i click on one, I want an animation to play that leads into the next page. I want this same animation to play whenever I click any of the buttons, but after the animation is done, I need the movie to go to different URLs.Basically I need code for a button to play an animation, then go to a URL after the movie clip has finished playing.
I'm having some troubles getting my xml gallery to work properly. The gallery works almost fine though, it finds the images from the xml and shows it as it should. The problem is that when i click on the images which all have a link, it does not go to the link but shows me an error:
I created a movieclip animation that only activates when i rollover the movieclip button. I further extended the frames and created another frame animation that i active only when user clicks the button. So i have a roll over/out animation and click animation in the same movieclip in the same layer. Now the problem is that when i click on the button, its supposed to take me to another page, and it does, unfortunately without the click animation. That means after i click on the button its supposed to first finish the click animation and then go to another page. But when i click, it takes me to another page without showing the click animation
SO I tried the If function, but i seem to make a mistake somewhere and i dont know what to do. Now there is no error in script, but onw there is a problem in link, the button finishes the click animation but it does not go to the tarrgeted"about" frame. here's the code
Now I want the button not to follow an external link, but to go to a specific frame number further in my movie.But I can't get it (not with an extra normal button,not with gotoAndPlay (52) etc.).
i have my main timeline with all the code on the first layer all is good there. But then inside a movie clip that is inside another that plays an animation i have some more code to load an external swf.
the code works fine i have tested it but it does not seem to want to work when its put in the timeline inside a movieclip.
I know i can put it on the first main stage layer with all my code and it will work but i want it only to work after i click a button and that button has played its animation.
I have a swf file "home" that has a series of animations that are button controled.I want part of the animation to be skipped when I click one specific button, for instance.Most of the time I want frame label:"1 out" to play all the way through to the last frame (20) and on frame (20) there is an action sending it back to frame 1and stopping, but I need to have a button that when hit plays frame label 1: "1 out" and continues to frame (19) and does not utilize the action on frame (20) sending it back to frame (1), or in other words playing through "1 out" and then playing "2 out" which occurs on frame 21 without returning to frame (1).
I started some days ago with Adobe Flash CS4, and I need to create buttons now. The button I want to create this time should be a frame by frame button, so when the user clicks 1 time on the button the animation needs to go 1 frame further and pause there.

Whats the best thing to do when you want to do an animation of a line that connects in each other as you click the button??you set the dots in a stage, and when you click the button there will be a line that will connect from dot1, into dot2 and so on.. ofcorse it includes animation effect.[code]
So within my Flash document I have a rollover movieclip that contains a UI scrollbar. My question is, can I modify this rollover script to be active until it reachs a certain frame in the animation and then become inactive so that the scrollbar works? Or, is there some script that I can use to make the UI scrollbar active within the rollover clip?
I do have four picture and 4 buttons which I need to place on the picture. Iam using the buttons to navigate through the pictures so that if I click button 3 - picture 3 shows up - NOT in a new frame.
*trouble with gotoandplay and roll out functions* basically i have an after effects movieclip (followed the after effects button tutorial on this site) that i have made into a button. it works ok on rollover and rollout i use tweener which works a treat and when i click it goes to another frame and plays a small sequence of smoke exploding.
problem: its a look problem really. when i rollout the smoke click sequence tweens back to frame 0 as per my rollout instructions IS there a way for me to have the click smoke sequence play all the way through before going back to frame 0 on my rollout ? i see tweener has a oncomplete statment is that of anyuse? ive tried a few thigns but it always reverts to the rollout and reverses the footage.
I seem to be getting this error message when I click on any of my button which are controlling the sound in my animations. ArgumentError: Error #2068: Invalid sound. at flash.media::Sound/play() at Conventional1_fla::MainTimeline/pSound()

I have created two buttons (Button1 and Button2). When you click Button1, an animation pops up. You click on the animation to close it - that works fine. If I then click on Button1 again to replay the animation, the animation does not show. If I click on Button2 THEN go back to click on Button1, the animation plays. Why can I not click that same button twice in a row? What am I doing wrong?
I have a movieclip playing and when I click a certain button I want the movieclip to first play an "outro" animation (which is also inside the movieclip) then go to the real target of the button. For example, I am at the Homepage of my website then I click on the Contact button. The homepage will first go to Homepage's outro animation then go to the Contact page. I need the button to recognize the page/clip being played and the page it will go to.
I want to create a button that toggles but has a roll over, roll out and click animation. Anyone willing to point me in the direction I need to be so that I can achieve this. I can create the roll over and roll out animation for the buttons but then how could I toggle between the two buttons. Ultimately this is for a start and stop situation. I want when I roll over the button for it to have a transition then click and it toggles to the alternate button with animation. I have been tackling this now for a week and with no success. So far I have found ways to toggle but loose the animation or vice verse.
I have a question regarding linking to an URL. I have a text button that I want linked to a URL when clicked. I am using ActionScript 2.0 not 3.0 thus have very limited tutorials to review.
I am currently using the following script on the button:
on (release) { getURL("http://www.signaturehill.com")' }
This works but there is a glitch.It is not waiting for click/release ... it is "automatically" going to the url without waiting?
Is there way to have it "wait" for the click? I do not know what code to ad in Action Script 2.0 to do this since I used the Script Assist for the URL command under Global Functions. I have uploaded the file incase you wish to view.
Lets say i have a button on frame 1. And if you press it normal, you ll get to frame 2. But then if you click it on another way, you ll get to frame 3. How do i do that easy?! With another way i mean like shift click or ctrl click or is it an easier way?
I got a "gotoURL" action within a movieclip from the main time line. So, you got the main time line, then you click on the movie clip thats on the main timeline, and within that is the gotoURL action that is linked to a movieclip within the movie clip the action is on. (Hopefully that makes sense to you.)
I have no error reports or anything. Is it possible to put a gotoURL function inside a movieclip?
I'm a little bit stuck as to why gotoURL would return false and does nothing. Does anyone know what could possibly cause gotoURL to return false? submit is a MC. The trace works fine. It's just the gotoURL doesn't take you any where.
ok lets say you create a button that when held down play an animation of 20 frames if realsed it goes to frame one and stops if held down it plays out this animation. for the topic lets say you have a fire animation and you want the fire to apear and if the user hold its down the animation reaches the end of the time line and loops back and plays the last 5 frames of the animation and as soon as it is let go it goes to and stops at frame one. Well i know how to make a button that when held down plays out an animation. And i know how to say when released goes to and stops at frame one. What i dont know how to do is to loop the fire at the last 5 or 6 frames so the user can hold it down all day long and play out that animation.
im trying to do is have a button that shows an animation (created by a duplicateMovieClip function) with onRollOver and stops the animation with onRollOut. It works when i roll over and it stops when i roll out, but then it continues in a loop up to the point where i rolled out (instead of cutting off completely as i would like). Id be extremely grateful if you could tell me where im going wrong.

the problem is that when i click on the first button loads ok but when click on second still showing the first movie clip in the back ,,,,, i have try everything without luck ,,,, i guess i need to keep reading but will like to find an answer to this situation ,
Basically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:

I am building a flash interface and I would like a menu where it is hidden to begin with (just a tab). You click the tab to expand it, and click again to collapse it. I've made a movieclip with animation of the menu opening up and closing, but I can't seem to work out how I'd go about making the movieclip open and close properly.
I have a test button i would like to have play a movie where a graphic expands. Once stopped, I would like to be able to click that same button and have the graphic go backwards. I would prefer to have timeline reverse, rather than lengthen the timeline of the mc because then i have to line up the start and end, and if one changes, i have to remember to change the other.
I am trying to work out this issue in as3 and I'm sure its simple but can't seem to get my head around it. If anyone can see a sollution I would be very happy to hear from you. [URL]..If you click on the red button and click back and previous you will notice that the speed it goes back when you click previous is much slower the further through the slides you go?

I am looking for real simple scripting - I have a 15-25 frame flash tweened animation and all I would like to do is run thru the animation once then on mouse click go to frame one and start again. And of course I am under a time crunch and completely fogged with actionscript 3.0. I did some basic projects back in the director days and thought I could just pick up where I left off. If I remember right it was simple scripting like gotoFrame and pause etc...
