All Flash is playing fine except now in IE7 +, when someone clicks on the Portfolio link, the preloader comes up but it doesn't advance to the 2nd frame with the content. However, if you click the Portfolio button again, it works fully. No issues on a Mac anywhere and no issues with Firefox in Windows. All content is in Flash and there are a couple of other movies that load as well but I've no idea where to start looking to fix this 'two-click' issue. It's set for Flash player 9 with AS2.0 and I used DWCS4 to insert.

I found a a free flash carousel from gotoandlearn.com but don't know how to change it so the icons link to a page? I know that doesn't make sense but go to the link below and you'll download the finished piece so you can see what it does now.So basically I just want to make it so when the user clicks on an icon it takes them to a page. http:.....
I am building a banner ad and I am using Flash CS4. I need it so when someone clicks the banner it takes them to the page in a new window. Its just a a simple URL and I keep getting syntax errors now and I dont know how to do this properly. I have tried these methods.
We have 10 Windows computers on a small unmanaged gigabit network with a DD-WRT Linksys WRT-54GS router and Dlink 2208 hubs, and were having problems with the network dieing, and nobody able to reach the internet or other computers on the network. It started happening suddenly. There are additionally 3 VOIP lines on this network too and they would be killed.
In troubleshooting, I could see an enormous amount of activity coming from one section of the network. Disconnnecting this segment brought the network back online and functioning correctly. Further tracing based on the flashing lights on the front of the hubs narrowed the problem to one computer, a new Windows XP-64 bit computer. When I brought up the Local Area Connection Status in Windows, I could see an enormous number of packets being sent.
Close to a million packets per second were being sent from this computer.Adobe Flash Player (ver 10,1,82,76) was taking a tremendous amount of CPU time for an idle computer, and killing this in task manager resulted in the network coming back alive immediately. Is this a known problem with Adobe Flash going nuclear and killing an entire network?
I just created a basic flash file to play a video on my web page and it's taking several minutes to load before it starts playback. I'm using progressive downlaod and the file is in *.mov format and is 84MB in size. At first that seemed large to me for web play back, but I thought it could handle it since I thought the way progressive download works is that it would start playing the first frame right away and progressively play other frames as they download. However, this seems to be downloading the whole file first (or a major part of it) before starting any playback at all.
Is there some kind of setting I'm missing or is my understanding of the download incorrect and the file size is too large? Some vitals: I'm using Flash Pro CS5 - To create my flash file, I used the standard import video wizard and selected the a file that is "on my computer" and "load external video with playback component" and then, I selected one of the standard skins.- To deploy the vidoe on my webiste I have three files:
1) swf file containing the FLV component
2) the swf file related to skin
3) the actual video (84MB, mov file) - Web page includes/embeds reference to swf file
I'm building a project that has a character navigate through a room by clicking on the floor. Right now, the walls, character, and floor are all children of the same display object for sorting purposes. My question: is there a way to disable mouse clicks to the walls and character while allowing clicks to the floor? Using mouseChildren appears to be an all or nothing deal and I can't seem to isolate individual floor/wall/character objects for use with mouseEnabled.
I have flash cs4, and I am using a list component. I know how to open swf when somebody clicks on the list, but is there any way to tell the component to open a .pdf file on a new window using the list component?
I have a site with 908 buttons. Basically a person clicks a button, makes a donation (through paypal) and then that button gets their name displayed when the mouse hovers over it. Essentially the button becomes the property of the person who makes the donation. how to disable each button when someone clicks it. Disabling a button isn't the problem. I need it disabled only when the person has made a valid donation. Each button has a unique instance name (b001 - b908). There must be a way.
I am currently working on a simple program that when the user clicks a button it adds 1 to a textbox for whatever button has been pressed. For example they click a heads button it puts 1 into the box, they click 1 in the tails button and it displays another 1 in the the box. What I am having a problem with is that once the total number of clicks has been done (15) I want it to stop and not allow anymore clicks.
Here is my code so far: btn_Heads.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, runHeads); btn_Tails.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, runTails); btn_Clear.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clearData); var coinArray:Array = new Array(); var headsTotal:int=0;var tailsTotal:int=0; var counter:int=0;
.....
The code runs all and well but when the total value reaches 15 I want it to stop and not allow anymore clicks.I was trying a for loop. Basically all I need it to do is that the Box's that are getting numbers put in them I need the total 1 to stop at 15 and not allow anymore changes.
Is there a way to set up an unseen variable in flash sort of like keeping score? The best way I can describe it is from the BASIC language I used to use back in the day, where on a click you can make x=x+1, or x=x-3, or whatever depending on the button you click on.And then it would display the score (i.e. whatever is the current value of x) in the corner? give me a link or the actual code you would assign to a single button that will add or subtract to a displayed score in the corner.
This seems like someting I should already know but I am working on a user interface that I want to be skinable. I have about 8 different graphical elements and I want to change the appearance of these 8 different movieClips just by clicking a single button. I thought I would just create a new keyframe in my main time line and then manipulate the movieClips but that changed the appearance of the movie clip on frame 1 as well. Clarification: I want to change the color of my user interface background and I want to change the color of some clickable images as well. I want frame 1 to have a white background and I want frame 2 to have a red background. Do I need to create more movie clips and drag them onto my stage or can I just use the existing movieClips since all I really want to do is change colors?
I would like to know how to track my pages with google analytics to see which pages are getting the most clicks. My site is XML / Flash the menu is xml. Could I put the tracking code on each of the menu items in the xml file?
I just upgraded to Flash CS4 on my laptop. program that used to take 5 seconds now takes up to 2 minutes. I installed the 10.0.2 update, and searched the web for a solution. I am desperate because all of my programming is based on CS4. I know how to compile a swc and use FlashDevelop with the compiled graphics, but this isn't a solution for me. Whenever I need to make changes to the graphics I can't wait this long. I am using an HP dv5-1190. This meets the minimum requirements by far.
URL...the problem is why it takes as long as it does to initiate the loading of the site if it's already loaded the site, here's the code for the preloader that loads the file that is being waited on:
I've developed an AIR application compatible with Flash Player. I want it to run it on my iPad, I already have developer certificate. Publish Settings are correct, but it's been 1 hour since i've Publish, still it shows "Publishing...". Any idea? Does it really take such a long time to publish .ipa? My stage resolution is 1024 x 768, .FLA size is 1.63 MB and external JPGs, SWFs and an FLV files are 503 MB.
My flex app has a call in it to navigateToURL(new URLRequest(_rURL),'_self');
But it takes about 3-5 or even more seconds before it will leave the current page.
If I omit the '_self' the new window opens immediately and the page loads immediate...but only when I set it to _self I get a few seconds of a delay before it loads...I have no idea why but it is annoying.. I am wondering if anyone might have any idea why this is happening or anything I can do?
I'm having a brutal time with a FLA. The wait time to open this thing is ridiculous, and alot of the time the program will just become nonresponsive. Its only this one specific file, as others open fine. It also has nothing to do with the hardware on my system, as we've tried the file on a variety of machines. The FLA itself contains very little bitmap art, most is vector. It's about 16mbs, but publishes down to a SWF thats about 300kb. There were some complex vector elements which were removed in a fruitless attempt to get this thing to move faster. Trying to "save as.." results in flash writing to a file extremely slowly. The resulting file will progress in size from 2 - 4 mb with about 10 minutes wait time in between. Its becoming nearly impossible for us to work in the file. how I could debug Flash itself to find out whats going wrong on load/save?
I have a problem when saving flash files in a mac. The process is much slower than in my other computer with windows, using the same file. I save my flash files very often and having to wait that long is very annoying. The problem can't be the file itself, I have tried saving different files and there is always more delay in mac compared to windows. In my mac I have OS X 10.7.2 (Lion) with Flash 5.5 and in my other pc, Windows XP SP3 with Flash CS 5. Has somebody experienced this before? What could be the origin? It's weird because my mac is new and is supposed to have better features than my windows pc which I bought many years ago I am a relatively new mac user and I have heard some people complaining about Lion OS X. What is your opinion?
Whats wrong with my buttons? here see how they rollover and dissappear and takes a second for them to reappear they should look like this Not counting the last button what did I do wrong here? I am modifying code of a programmer who is not with my company anymore and I need to edit this for a client
I elaborated a flash cd with connection to the server, the problem is: Sometimes the content takes time to load, is there any way to around this? Like first load the data and then display regards
I have an AIR application, I use SwfLoader to load another swf file to display in this app. The problem is the CPU Usage always takes over 50%, but it only takes 15% when the swf file runs in standalone mode.
I've found two very strange pieces of code in PureMVC's documentation:
....
(found in Best Practices [English], bottom of page 38 and top of page 39) I've always thought that getters must not accept a parameter (and FDT indeed tells me that "Parameters for getters are not allowed"), so I wonder what's going on here. Is that just an unfortunate typo (meant to be simply a normal function without the "get") or some hidden feature/voodoo?
I have a flash file that consists of a number of loops that play in series that allows me to change the duration of each part of the movie dependent on what is in the loop. Therefore loop 1 plays x number of times before moving on the loop 2 that plays y number of times and so on. I had worked out all my timings so that each loop last half a second. The number of times each loop plays is controlled by an if statement on the last frame of each loop. So far so good. In this main movie have another movie clip that runs independently of these loops and I noticed that although it was the same length as the main movie taking the loops into account, it would drift out of sync as the main movie progressed and looked as if it was running slow. However by tracing frame numbers of the two movies, I noticed that each time the main movie reaches on of the if statement frames although it appears to increment by one frame the other movie doesn't. By commenting out all the if statement frames both movie run in sync.
Therefore I conclude that a frame that controls the playhead position in this method does not actually last a full frame in duration, but jumps immediately to the new frame as soon as the command is encountered. Can I assume that this is constant and that frames used to move the playhead occupy no time in terms of the main timeline? Is there any documentation on this?
I am working on an application, using Flash CS3 + AIR, that involves some heavy content loading. I need to fetch some 140 gif files each around 400x400 in resolution and 50KB in size and display them in a TileList. The code that I am using is pretty standard stuff, (excerpts from the cellrenderer of my TileList):
I am loading an XML file (fairly large document). It takes a high amount of my CPU(almost 100%). This prevents me from working on other applications. Also, it takes a lot of time to load.
does anyone know of a simple to use color class that takes 0xRRGGBBAA (hex)? basically a tint class, really, since i'd like to keep the details of the movie clips i'm 'tinting' instead of blow them all into the same !@#$ color.
...cuz colorTransform is so straightforward (pfffft!)... and Adobe screwed up not adding a simple _tint...
Does anyone know of a script that can redirect to a new page if the flash takes to long to load?I want to prevent users from watching the loading screen on a slow server day so I want it to redirect if the load is taking more than 10 secs.
