Actionscript 3 :: Export A Symbol For Multiple Projects In Flash?
Aug 25, 2011Is there a way for me to export a symbol from the library so I can use it in multiple files without having to add the symbol to each library?
View 1 RepliesIs there a way for me to export a symbol from the library so I can use it in multiple files without having to add the symbol to each library?
View 1 RepliesI have several related projects. If I pull a symbol from the library of one project into another project, and then modify the symbol, shouldn't the changes appear in the original project too? Or is a new, project-unique symbol auto-created that has the exact same name as the one in the original library?I have a multi-scene cartoon with recurring characters, and would very much like to make modifications as I notice imperfections, and trust that the changes will appear in all instances. Is this possible?
View 1 Repliesive made a symbol and i want to make instances of it in many projects. ive tried exporting it as an swc but then it wont let me import it to the library, seems to not want to import swcs to the library.
View 2 RepliesI am going to build chart application with Flash Professional CS5 using AS3.0.Is there any possibility to convert this Flash application into Flex by creating movieclips and symbols in runtime in flex.How to do it.
View 1 RepliesLet's say I have multiple projects organized as
commonlib
superorg
org1
[code].....
I am trying to export the button symbol from Flash and publish swc file for Flex.I have successfully export 3 buttons which are playBtn, stopBtn, pauseBtn from flash and add swc file to my flex actionscript files.my code is:
private var stopBt:stopBtn;
private var playBt:playBtn;
private var pauseBt:pauseBtn;
private var mutebt:muteBtn // no such datatype.....
error message....an internal build error has occurred, right click for more information.Since I add swc from flash in flex, I don't have to import these button...However, when I tried to create 1 more button (muteBtn) in flash and did the same thing again in flex, it gave me "an internal build error has occurred, right click for more information" error.When I created a var and tried to type :, there are no muteBtn datatype pop up.... I have spent 2 hours on this crazy crap and don't know WTF is going on.
I am working on an educational project where users access multiple interfaces that teach them scientific concepts and I've come to a snag in the best method of developing these interfaces.As they were developed in the last module the format looked like this. Each interface was a separate swf file that contained all needed code, graphics, and a set of fake data for whatever the interface needed. Each revision of the interface is compiled and displayed through meetings or emails where the actual swf file is sent, we do not have a test server nor do we have access to the internet in the rooms where reviews happen. Currently after the final look and interaction is approved all calls to the fake data are modified to either make database calls themselves, or call functions from it's containing swf file once it is loaded.[code]Obviously I haven't gotten it to work but I'm thinking something along those lines. Any suggestions on a method to do this the best. Ultimately I would like to be able to do this for embedding assets as well. For example a font, currently I load fonts from an external file, which means each FLA needs a copy of that font file and at completion all files load the same text file.
View 3 RepliesI made a scene with movement and everything, but when I convert it to a symbol I lose the movement frames. I want to be able to import it as an object so that the animation loops for as long as I need it to in the other project.
View 1 Replieswe have java and flex projects at work. We currently have 1 base pom that contains the configurations we want to use for both projects. Problem with this is: flex projects inherit configuration for javadoc and pmd for example, which they do not want.
I want to do this a bit more clean and have a real base-pom and then a java-base-pom and a flex-base-pom. But how does this work in a multimodule that has both a flex part and a java part?
We have plugins to our own application where we use the following structure:
my-plugin
my-plugin-client (flex)
my-plugin-server (java)
The my-plugin just contains a pom.xml with section. I would use the my-plugin pom.xml as a parent to both, but then I cannot also use the java base-pom or the flex base-pom also as parent.
I'm trying to export and swc files from only .as classes. I did it both in flashdevelop and flashbuilder but i always obtain an SWC file with two folders inseide: "Classes" (ok) and "Symbols" (i don't want it). A long name file ("_69162136b9125b99edd9216dfb3111de7cbbe4f1d0e981a1747ac31b0919d496_flash_display_Sprite") is also generated in both folders.
How i can export an swc that contains only the "Classes" folder (like swc provided from, for example, Google or PureMVC)?
I am very new to ActionScript. I have a .fla file which contains the AS2 code for the frames. What I need to do is that I have to export this code as a separate file. There may be a separate file(or class file) for each frame code. Is it possible to me do it automatically without losing animation interactivity and functionality? Or is there any other way?
View 1 RepliesI recently completed a project for a custom report UI in Flex. Now, I've been tasked with creating a new application that is essentially a "lite" version of the original UI. It will include only a few of the options that are in the original application. Also, it needs to be a separate application.
I do not want to duplicate my code, so I am planning on moving a bunch of the classes from the original application to a new library that can be shared by both applications. However, I'm trying to figure out how to make this work in my MVC environment.
For example, I have an Accordion component that lets users filter several items. Each Accordion child is an instance of a custom component with two lists (one for entities available for selection, the other for the entities the user has selected). Each child component has properties bound to the Model and functions that call Cairngorm Events.[code]...
I made a very nice movie clip that now resides in the library of my current working fla. I have an external class controlling it and all is fine.
However, I want to use this movie clip in another fla file as well. The method i have used now is to have both projects open, then manually copy the movie clip from one to the other.
Like exporting a movie clip to an "external file-database of movie clips" for importing it in other projects?
I'm trying to make a paper doll sort of program. I've got a bunch of PNGs of clothes cut out and I'd like to dynamically load them in with attachMovie.So I imported the PNGs into my project, but when I try to export them for ActionScript, the checkbox to do so is greyed out.Does anybody know what the specific requirements are to be able to Export a symbol to ActionScript?
View 1 RepliesI am new flash developer, and inherited a project which has 4 fla project files. When it runs inside a browser, it appears "window" which occupies whole browser. This project is write in Flash CS3. I have few questions:
1). When loading main swf file, 3 other swf files are also loaded. These swf files are communicating with each other through message. When debug the mail swf with CS3, I can set breakpoint and the program can stop only at limited AS files. My questions is how to debug other AS files in other swf file?
2) I used CS5. It seems that I can stop at more AS files, which does not belong to main swf file. Why?
My questions is should I use CS5, which might makes debugging easier? Is it right direction to go to debug multiple swf? (For CS5, I need to fix some code in order to make the program fully working as CS3)
3) What's best tool to use for such project since CS3 is very old. Should I use Flash builder, Flex. Amethyst?
Anyone has an idea when and why movieclip symbol become green when i export actionscript file with that movieclip?
View 2 Repliesif you have an active state and a passive state for something, you can jump between the two with gotoAndStop(2), gotoAndStop(1); or you can manipulate whatever property is changing directly (e.g. if it's alpha, then symb.alpha=0.5, symb.alpha = 1.0). I've found myself jumping between the two, and I don't like it (I like to have a standard, or at least a usual). What's considered a good practice
View 4 Repliesi have several flash projects and i have common classes. is there a way to share these classes between the project so i won't need to copy it to all the project when ever i modify something?
View 2 Repliesi often get to work with multiple FLA files that are related to each other and i need to compile them all... now days i have to go throw each file and hit the Ctrl+Enter to compile is there by any chance a way to compile all open swf files in one click?
View 2 RepliesSince the demensions of some of them, i.e. phones as opposed to tablets, have a much smaller screen, wanted to use different sets of mc's depending on screen size (device dimension wise, not resolution).So a smaller device would use the mc's with larger gfx so they would still be decipherable and the larger devices could use smaller gfx so to be abale to get a larger part on the screen at the same time- I could just scale the entire screen clip all the time, but this will slow it down too much i think- I could create multiple instances and use different names and then sort them out run time in AS, but this would also steal processor time. Im not really for that.
- I could publish multiple versions, depending on device its for. But this would require me to maintain multiple sources on upgrades. I can feel the hurt already.I was hoping it is possible somehow to export the movieclips as .swf's or something and then sorting out run time wich one to import/use/load.Then, hopefully i can refer to them in my code with the same name's but they will be different sizes depending on wich i had chosen to include/load.
I'm trying to create a game in flash cs4 to then export it as a SWC class so I later on can work with the movieclips in flex. However I can't seem to get multiple levels of movieclips to work, example:
main_clip-> icons -> dude_1
dude_1 have a couple of rows script, when I now export main_clip I can only access main_clip and icons, the script inside dude_1 wont run but the movieclip is exported..
I found a workaround my copying dude_1 to the same level as icons and hide it, that way the script will run inside the third level of movieclips. Is there a reason why I can't just access the movieclips inside the second level of movieclips when I export the file as a SWC?
I have an AIR application with two DataGrids that I would like to export to Excel. I've found the as3xls library, but it can only handle one sheet (as per the comments). Ideally, I'd like to export both DataGrids into separate sheets in the same workbook.
The AIR application is running entirely on the user's desktop and doesn't have a connection to any server, so the solution would need to be Flex/AIR only.
I have a project in Flash Professional CS5 and ActionScript 3.
I have a movieclip symbol (referred herein as "background" with scripts on various keyframes inside of that symbol. I need to hide or show another symbol (referred herein as "object") sharing a stage with "background".
To put it another way, I need "object" to be hidden when "background" reaches a certain internal keyframe. However, as "object" and "background" are both children of the same stage, how do I do this?
I am having an issue display/using my flash projects. On my computer, or my website. Every time i click on a button in the project this appear's I click settings, and enter the information is says to Once done i than restarted the application/process. No changes occoured. So than what i did was Restart my computer, Stilling having issue.
View 2 RepliesI have a symbol that contains all the weapons. I placed 6 of them on the stage. I have 6 variables P1Weapon1... P1Weapon2..etc. I need each one to stop on whatever variable matches them. The scripts needs to be on a external as file linked to the symbol. The variables are declared on a external as file linked to the main timeline.
View 1 RepliesFor a hangman-esque game I have a flash document (using CS5, but that probably doesn't matter) that has (or rather will have) a library of 26 movie clips which will contain a letter of the alphabet each. They will be inside their own dynamic textbox, so I am able to change the font, colour background etc. at will. But is it even possible to change more than one instance of a movie clip on the stage at the same time, without getting too complex?
In other words can I put multiple A's, B's, C's etc. on the stage and get all of them to change at the same time if someone guesses a letter? I know that you can change single instances of a movie clip, but for that you need to give each instance a name and I don't know how many of each letter I would be putting on the stage, let alone how I could access them all easily. Perhaps it could be through classes or something? I haven't really covered them before though. Feel free to ask for any more details... I admit some of I stuff I write can be a bit vague...
I can select one symbol and swap it with another, but why can't I swap multiple instances of the same symbol?
View 6 RepliesI have a very big proyect completelly developed in FLASX MX PROFESSIONAL 2004. In order to manage it,I have divided the file in several parts. What I want to do now is to connect that parts and compile them as a Whole.
View 12 RepliesSo, I popped open up Flash CS5 just now, and I couldn't find my projects panel. I was working on a dual screen set up previously, so my windows were everywhere anyways (sans external). I switched over to a smaller screen workspace, and popped opened the projects panel. Oddly enough, the code snippets panel came up instead. So, I switched off the code snippets, and tried again. I've been trying different ways of opening this panel for about 15 minutes, and I'm totally stumped. Some thorough googling didn't present any relevant results, so, StackOverflow, I turn to you. Is this a known issue? is there a secret backdoor way to open this panel?
View 1 RepliesMy goal is to make a flash/as3 program that would pull multiple sets of data (images and texts) from the database and compile and save a flash video project for each one. What might be the best way to go about making this work? I checked but wasn't able to find a function that would publish the flash project in it's current state, so I don't think I can execute the entire process in a single flash/as3 file. My only other option is to have some other program/batch file take care of the querying the database and compiling multiple flash/as3 movies by starting up a flash program and passing it the parameters of the data it needs to build 1 complete project for 1 set of data. Is there a program to create .swf files automatically? Is it even possible to pass in init params to flash/as3 project?
