View 1 RepliesI know the problem is with how I have this structured. Here's the code:
scrollHand.buttonMode = true;
scrollHand.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, beginDrag);
var bounds = new Rectangle(747,200,0,handLimit);
var dragging:Boolean = false;
var dy:int = 0;
I'm using the fl.controls.Slider class and I can't get it to show a hand cursor when hovering over it. Here's my code.
import fl.controls.Slider;
var slider : Slider = new Slider();
slider.x = 100;
slider.y = 100;
if i move the cursor to a point A, it automatically moves by itself to a point B. then if i move the cursor from B to a point C, it bounces away to a point D. i stumbled upon this site while googling around. i'm not a techie, but yeah, i can handle word processors.
View 5 RepliesI found some code on your site a while ago that allowed me to click a button and make the movie move back and forth using the x position. I wanted to try moving it around using both the x and y position, but im not sure what i am doing. it is working somewhat, but it is not going to a specific spot. i dont understand if it is working right.
View 2 Repliesi got a fullscreen museum installation with a trackball input.all the menu controls are limited to a strip in the bottom 90 pixels, so i want the cursor to be limited to this area.something like this, prehaps:
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, limitMe);
function limitMe(e:MouseEvent):void {if (stage.mouseY>940){mouseY=940};if (stage.mouseY<850){mouseY=850)};}
the problem of course is that mouseY cannot be set
how to do this custom cursor when mouse is in movement like this link:direct me the link where i can find tuts.

View 0 RepliesI figured out how to use custom cursor by using Mouse.hide and startDrag but I can't figure out how to control the movement of it. What I want to do is that when you mouse over a button the cursor gets pushed away from the button and stays there. I've seen examples of controlling the speed of the cursor but what i can't find any examples of literally moving your cursor location.
View 1 RepliesI have two different background images for my navigation bar. I want the two images to crossfade between each other incrementally depending on the position of the mouse cursor. I was thinking I could do this with an OnClipEvent (mouseMove) and an attach movie command, but I'm not really sure how that works... like I said, i'm just starting out, and I'm thinking I've bitten off more than I could chew.
View 3 RepliesI have the following code which works fine but I would like to set a restriction on how far the movie will travel on it's x and y axis. How can this be achieved?
Code:
speed = .99;
setInterval(CursorMovement, 40);
function CursorMovement() {

tracking a slider's movement while a dynamic piece of media is playing (audio, video) and recording the time and new location of the slider. So if you were watching a 30 sec video clip, and you were rating it in real time, how to record the position of the slider and the time that you moved it? Ugh, if I should explain this better,
View 3 RepliesI'm working on a gallery with slider control that must display several thousand images.
1) The images must load dynamically just before they appear on stage and remove images / listeners as they leave the stage.
2) Have the images slide left / right with the slider.
best ways to dynamically load the images? I considered adding placeholder mcs on the stage, performing a check to see if the mc was within bounds and then loading it, but the player will definitely chug with several thousand mcs on stage.
modified the XML photo gallery tutorial that uses thumbnails [URL]
The tutorial demonstrates the thumbnails beginning to scroll when you reach the right hittest button.
What I am trying to do is have the thumbnails scroll in either direction horizontally in relation to the center of thumbnail scroller, like this example demonstrates- [URL]
I know that the hit_left and hit_right buttons are what is being referenced to trigger the scrolling, so I'm assuming that the solution lies somewhere in the if statements inside the thumbNailScroller function.
I'd like to build image slider like Nivo slider with Adobe Flash Builder.
i'd like to have image controls, image titles displayed above the image(like layers in flash). i'd like to read the data from xml.
i'd like to have nice transitions between images.
mayebe u can provide tutorial or source code.
I am trying to create a vertical scrolling gallery. In the past I've created a horizontal scrolling gallery but can't figure out how to switch the horizontal scrolling gallery to a vertical scrolling gallery. I know I need to change the positioning of the movie clips from horizontal to vertical just not sure what to change in the code.
what I would need to change in order for my horizontal scrolling gallery to become a vertical scrolling gallery?
code:
digital_artwork.onRollOver = digital_artworkOver;
function digital_artworkOver() {
this.onEnterFrame = scrolldigital_artwork;

I am looking for the Action Script that will allow me to set up a horiz. set of images and use the mouse movement to move the band of images left or right. Upon clickin on the image I will have a link to other views.
View 3 RepliesI would like to stop movement of the thumbnails of the Gal100 gallery when my pop-up container "MC" was loaded, so that mouse moving over loaded container "MC" doesnt affect the position of the thumbnails in the gallery beneath it (i'd like for the thumbnails position to remain the same after closing the popup container).
how to do it with AC ?
i'm also wondering why the movie clip "MC" is not listed in the AC properties window as any other movie clip which contains an AC code ? it's simply not there. so, the only way to see the code is actually to select the ac frames of the "MC" movie clip.
im trying to create a grid gallery that when you rollover an item it grows larger and makes the other items a little smaller, and moves them to compensate for the larger image and on rollout it shrinks to its original size, and so does the other items. if someone could point me in the right direction (tutorials, etc.) or how i would go about build it,
View 1 RepliesI have a custom cursor, all works fine until I load in my XML gallery. My cursor conflicts with the xml gallery, I know it's a script problem somewhere in the gallery script, but I dont know how to fix it. If I take the script out of the cursor action, the gallery works fine, but no custom cursor, and vice versa. Here is the code for the xml gallery and below is the code for the cursor, sorry for so much script:

In as3, how do you change the cursor to the systems default busy/wait cursor (e.g. the spinning wheel on a mac)?
View 2 RepliesWhat I have is a map that you can click on points and it will zoom in, you can also click on a "plus/minus" buttons to zoom in and out (I even have the mouse wheel zooming in and out). The client wanted me to add a "zoom slider bar" to it so you know you could move it up and down to scale it. Everything is working except the slider, I can't seem to get it to work with the position of the slider. All of the zoom functionality is there but the slider is killing me.
I am putting up the fla file since there is a lot of code in there and I didn't want to put it all in the forum. if you look in the fla in frame ten on line 726 you can find the function that is supposed to handle the zooming when you move the slider. Up on line 74 you can find the slider onPress and onRelease functions, but those I believe should be fine.
I am trying to create a basic timeline, similar to the timeline we all use in flash (see attached).
I have a playhead slider, which when dragged, just drags within its startDrag() limits.
I also have horizontal window scroller which also when dragged, just drags within its startDrag() limits.
I am trying to work out how to get the horizontal window scroller to scroll when the playhead slider hits the left or right edge. I am using hittest for this collision.
I have the playHeadSlider scrolling along the top. When playHeadSlider collides with hittestThing I want mcContents to then move.
It kind of works.. mcContents moves when the playHeadSlider is in collision with the hittestThing.. but it just moves rather than 'drags' across. I have it set up so that mcContents is twice the width (approx) of mcScrollWindow.
I need to somehow update what I have so that if the playHeadSlider collides with hittestThing on the right, mcContents only moves to the right and if playHeadSlider collides with hittestThing2 on the left, mcContents only moves to the left.
I've been playing with carousel code, and was wondering how to change it from circular animation (carousel) to left/right linear (conveyer belt) style animation, how to change the mover code and 't.angle = i * ((Math.PI*2)/numOfItems);'

I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.
I have a mc (fStrip) which looks like a piece of filmstrip with thumbnail images in it. I want this mc to move when the users mouse is positioned over it, but I only want it to move only along it's x-axis and in a direction opposite that of the mouse. And I want it to move or flow smoothly.
I've been trying to figure this out (see my lame attempt below) but without much luck.
onClipEvent (mouseMove) {
buffer=20 //movement buffer
mousePos=_root.fStrip._xmouse //store mouse position
if (mymouse!=_root.fStrip._xmouse){ //if the mouse has moved

I wish to get the effect of ants scuttering across the screen or up a tree, I have not decided which direction yet. I started with the tutorial code for the snow effect from kirupa, and changed it around to fit the little vector ant I created. The way I have it now looks pretty good, but the movement is a little too fluid. They obviously move in sinusoidal paths bc the code tells them to. I have about 20 copies of the main obj, and they're all a little different in size and specs (speed, transparency, etc) but what I was wondering was if there is any way I can change the code to make it a little more hectic, or erratic, not so fluid. If there is no way of doing so, it looks pretty good right now. If there is, however, I think it could look awesome. here's the code I'm using for the object.
onClipEvent (load) {
//stage
movieWidth = 850;
movieHeight = 50;

I am making use of a custom cursor on itemRenderers in a List component. The custom cursor works just fine except when I mouse over the Text component which is a child of the itemRenderer at which point I get two cursors, the custom and an iBar one on top of the other.Here's the code:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
<mx:Script>
[code].....
so the custom cursor I'm using works on the main timeline of my project. However, there are buttons in the application that load in movie clip pop-up windows and when this happens the cursor stays on the main timeline behind the movie clip resluting in the cursor not being seen. This is the code I'm currently using:

i am trying to put some things together following the tutorials on this site. I did the tutorial 'Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash'and I followed it step by step and uploaded it with all the necessary files onto my remote server (xml file, Gallery folder, fla, swf, and html) - however, when I test the movie with flash, it seems to work fine (except the description test, my question to that later), but when I test it online it shows only the first image (but displays the correct number of images in the gallery); even when clicking the next button, it keeps loading the first image the first image. In other galleries (I use the structure for multiple galleries for my portfolio) the first image never loads at all.
Also, about the description text, in between the <caption> and </caption>, can I use <strong> and <em> and <br /> to change the appearance of my text? All it says is 'null'.If you want to look at what I mean check out my portfolio in the making. The problem with the first image displaying only is under 'paintings' and both the projects in 'design - packaging'. The second problem (no picture loading at all) is on some of the buttons in 'design - identity' (where I have not changed the description text of the tutorial yet).
Again,
