Flash :: Drag And Drop Application Where Mc Is Dragged Out Of One Parent Mc And Dropped Into Another Parent Mc?

Nov 13, 2010

Simple drag and drop application where mc is dragged out of one parent mc and dropped into another parent mc.All works OK until I added 2 text boxes to the mc's -- one is a non-selectable dynamic text box (a label) which is set by the code, the other is selectable input text that the user can amend.

Finger cursor disappears when user hovers over the section of the mc that contains the text fields (even non-selectable text??) When the user trys to drag the mc by inadvertantly click-dragging anywhere within both text areas it causes this error: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.text::TextField@2374a381 to flash.display. MovieClip (same error appears for both text boxes)

The input text box may confuse the user - how do they sometimes click to drag and sometimes click to amend? I need to create an overlay area within the mc that is click-detected for the drag? Here's the relevant bits of code:

var itemArray:Array = [
{iname:"police",ititle:"POLICE OFFICER"},
{iname:"insurance_assessor",ititle:"INSURANCE ASSESSOR"},[code].............

Flash - Drag Child Mc Out Of Parent Mc And Add To New Parent Mc?

Oct 6, 2010

Here is a working script to drag drop a ball from the stage into another target mc:

ball.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, pickUp);
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropIt);
function pickUp(event:MouseEvent):void{ [code]...

It works well but I'm new to AS3 and I am having difficulty amending this script to drag the ball out of a parent mc (instead of the stage) and onto another mc (the target mc). To explain: imagine a ball, a box, a tri, + more shapes all within a scrolling mc (initial parent), the user scrolls to select a shape, then drag-drops onto a target mc on the stage.The scrolling is no problem, but how would you amend the script above so that the ball can start inside a parent mc rather than on the stage itself?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Error 1120: Access Of Undefined Property Parent + Movieclip(parent)?

Mar 15, 2011

I am trying to access a function that is on my document class for my AS3 project, from a nested class. That is, the Document Class calls Class A which then calls Class B. So I am trying to access a function from Class B, I am trying to use MovieClip(parent).function(); but I am getting error 1120. The MovieClip(parent) (fixed to reflect my document class, etc) works when I try it from other classes but not from this nested class.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Rotate Parent Mc Without Messing Up Drag Of Child Mc's

Dec 9, 2009

I have built this, drag the various dots.[URL]...%20parent.html I did not use the flash startDrag because it had all sorts of issues. I wanted the dots to be restricted to the stage when dragged. That is any dot CAN leave the stage when it is not the one being dragged. For example make the kite big and drag the red dot, the blue dots are free to leave the stage (marked by outline in the online example) The code I have uses mousemove, and some globalToLocal conversion to keep the dots from leaving the stage area All was well so far.

Now I find out the kite has to be able to rotate! when I simply rotate the kite all of my dragging rules break down. Click the big blue button, each click rotates the kite 5 degrees. Looks OK at first, rotate 30 or 40 degrees and everything breaks down. I know its the globalToLocal limiting, is there a better way? Seems people here have a lot of experience with dragging and rotating in flash. Does anyone see a way to fix what happens, or a whole new way to do the drag.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Get An Attached Movie To Drag With Its Parent & Not Move Independently?

Oct 15, 2009

I would like to attach (using A3) a movie clip to a draggable movie clip. I has set up a movie clip using startDrag() all works fine. But I would like to be able to dynamically place a movie clip inside it so that it too drags. Ive got it to partly work you can drag the original movie clip around and the attached movie clip (using aadChild) moves too. But if I grab the attached movie clip instead of the original clip it moves independently.

Is there a way of getting a movie clip inside the draggable movie clip and have it fixed in place and not move if you happen to attempt to drag it.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Remove OnRelease Event For MovieClip

May 24, 2005

I'm trying to remove a onRelease event for a movieclip of mine. The action is defined in the movie's class file like so:

Code:
private function onRelease():Void {
delete this.onRelease;
trace ("test");
}

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be removing the onRelease events, and whenever I click on the button it traces "test". Is there some other way to remove onRelease events when they are applied through a class? When I use the above method out of the class definition all is fine, like this:

Code:
secaoMap_mc.onRelease = function () {
delete this.onRelease;
trace ("teste");
}

ActionScript 1/2 :: OnRelease GetURL Not Working With MovieClip Animation

Dec 22, 2009

I am new to Flash/Actionscript and am having problems getting some movieclips to link to different URLs on release. I am able to get them to animate, and I am able to get them to link to an html page in the same folder, but I can't get both functionalities to work at the same time. I've tried putting the actionscript in the instance object, in the action layer, and other things and nothing seems to work!?

Here is the link to the source file: [URL] believe that the actionscripting needs to be done in the "banners" movieclip, but it could also be the "Symbol 3" movieclip. Here is also a link to the .swf [URL]. See, if you mouse over the first two clips, they animate, but they do not go to the HTML page if you click on them [URL]. The third clip will go to the page success1.html in the same folder if you click on it, but it does not animate on mouse over.

ActionScript 2.0 :: OnRollOver On MovieClip Blocks OnRelease Events

Dec 7, 2010

I want a transparent movie clip that displays a tool tip when you roll over it. Beneath that movie clip I have other movie clips that I want to be clickable. Unfortunately having the "onRollOver" event on the top layer movie clip blocks the "onRelease" events of the lower movie clips. If I move the smaller movie clips on top it will work but I have to setup a tool tip for each of them (and it disappears and reappears when I move from one MC to another). I also thought about using the "onMouseMove" event and doing a hit test, but that seems less efficient.

ActionScript 2.0 :: FLASH 8 : OnRelease Function Not Working For Movieclip?

Oct 9, 2007

the seven dots u see on the stage are 7 emptymovieclips. i've coded the action script to load the thumbnails in 6 emptymovieclips on left side arranged in grid.script is working fine till 6 thumbnails are loaded in the grid.(from externel xml file as i've coded)as logically u can guess that, when we click on a thumbnail, it's bigger copy should be loaded in the black square on he stage. but it is not happening ; i;ve coded for it also ;in the following script u can see that the last command is:

_root.thumb0.onRelease = function() {
trace ("clicked");
}

it should dispaly "clicked" on output window when thumb0 is clicked but it isn't showing anything. not any error even. the above line is in firstframe's action script; and it must should work from here only, not under the AS of thumb0 movieclip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: OnRelease Move MovieClip - Navigation Items

Feb 14, 2008

I am making a navigation for a site, and the client wants a box behind a menu item to show that it is the active option. He wants that box to move to behind the new option when selected. So my navigation goes along the x axis; home contact about etc. Initially the box, which I have given the instance name 'tab' is behind 'home' as its the homepage.

So by clicking on say, the third option, the box will move from home to the third option, and say the user then clicks the second option, the box is to move to behind that. I got 4 navigation items, all are buttons, all on their own layer with the box being on its own layer too (obviously below the layers for the buttons so it appears behing the menu item).

I thought it would be quite simple, have some code which effectively says:
buttom1.on(release) {
tab.moveto(x value, 40);
}

ActionScript 2.0 :: MovieClip - Stop All The Other Functions From Playing Once The .onRelease Function Has Started?

What I want is for all the other functions to go away once "shrink" has started to play, so that if the mouse goes over the button again, the clip doesn't start playing "rollover" etc etc. So how do I stop all the other functions from playing once the .onRelease function has started?
