I have a "bestflash_mc" animated movieclip incorporated into the three state (up, over, down) of the "bestflash_btn" button.I would like to load the "bfhun.swf" file with the left mousebutton, using the code below:

It works, however I always have to click TWICE to load the required swf.
I have a rotaing menu that loads in images from an xml file, I would also like it to load in text info from the same xml file to the left side of the images that load in. In my main .fla have created a movieclip and called it 'textInfo' and inside that I have two dynamic text fields called 'headerText' and 'bodyText' where I want to load the text in. this is what I am using to loading in the text in my actionscript, is this correct?

Would like to use a shared object so that when someone goes to the next page it will load on the picture it left of at. Should the shared object load at the last state or should it save the frame position? The movie has so many pictures that people will only see the first couple pictures every single time they change pages and never get to the end of the movie. This was made in Flash CS5

View 7 RepliesI've attached a file which makes a ball move to the left when pressing the right arrow key.[code]On a Key.RIGHT it goes through a for loop. Shifting the ball 200 times 1 pixel to the left. Every iteration it tests for a hit with coordinates 100/50 (indicated by the red crosshairs). If there's no hit it moves 1 pixel to the left. If there is a hit it stops moving (no ball._x--).Funny thing is: while it eventually finds a hit, it does a final For Loop. Even though it should find a hit during that last loop when the ball is passing the crosshairs, it doesn't and moves the ball a final time 200 times 1 pixel to the left. Ending up with below image.URL...Why doesn't it find a 'hit' for that final For Loop while it's clearly passing it?

I have created a square 1280 x 100 pixels in size and imported it to the stage, alignment is set to x=0, y=0 ad alignment. The scene is the same size as the square I 've imported. When I view my Flash creation its displayed 8 pixels from the top left corner of the browser window. The flash file only contains the square and nothing else. take a look at the 3 files I've attached: issue-scrreen1-3.jpg. The first 2 screens are my Flash, properties and library screen shots. The third screen shot is my browser window.

I have figured out how to create the flash file which will overlay the page, with all elements centered, from here: kirupa forums tutorial.
The only thing I cannot figure out is how to attach the Close button which would come at the top right. AS3 is not allowing me to attach any behaviour to the button, neither does it allow me to put actionscript there. I am in dire straits.
I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
View 15 RepliesI udnerstand the basic concepts of the FLash Environment. What gets me is the action scripts because I'm not a coder I can handle the simple elements .Here is what I need it to do. I have a "dot" that shows up on the screen and when either mouseover or release, I need it to pop up a small "load Movie" to the left (which I have managed to do)...here's what it's doing and not doing.
1) it deletes the dot and doesn't bring it back
2) I have other "dots" and when they are pressed I need the one "loadMovie" file to go away and hte other to show up.
I have tried the gottoandstop the gotoandplay, all kinds of things and nothing works.
panning my content from left to right (with stop as intervals) then right to left (also with intervals)
1. I created an mc (name: "content")Notice in this mc, I layout 4 sets of text (like a page) from left to right
2. I created another mc (name: "pancontent_mc")
-I added a layer for "content" and created a motion tween for it to pan from left to right
-I created a mask layer on top of "content" that will show 1 set at a time
-I created an action layer that has total of 4 stops(); on each frame where the 4 sets of text will show directly under the mask.
3. maintimeline -There's only 1 layer. I placed an instance of buttons (left/right) and an instance of "pancontent_mc"
4. actions for right button, works fine and stops on each set of text.

5. actions for left button - none. I havent figured this out yet.

I'm currently working on a project that contains a lot of data, about 14.000 records. This means an xml file of about 3mb. Now my question is: Should I use the xml file to load all the data at once, or should I use a webservice, that provides the data when I need it? Keep in mind that I'm new to webservices. And if I'm going to use a webservice: How do I store the data, in a mySQL database?How fast is a webservice?

As those files get updated and re-loaded quite often I have made the experience that the browser tends to use the old/cached XML-data. Can I somehow flag the URLLoader that I use to load the XML to always load the actual file instead of looking for cached versions?
