I am using actionscript 3. I can load an image in a class but how do Iload a number of images eg 4 images that animate.?These 4 images are a walking sequnce of a character. I am unclear after googling an loading multi images in as3( just love google).
Loading a single image I load this into a loader Once loaded I load the image into a bitmap and add to a sprite I then add the spite to the stage Q)Now for 4 related images I load 4 loader or 4 sprites or 4 bitmaps or do every thing 4 times?I want to do collisions eventually and I need bitmaps but bitmaps seem useless to use other than collisions.Googling for answers isnt helping me clarify this!

Question: How do I (assuming it is possible) animate a drawing (gif, jpeg, png, whatever) I drew outside of flash. I have some monsters I have drawn and would like to animate them for a flash game I am creating. I've looked around and done a lot of searches, but I cannot find any answers or tutorials. It is probably because I am not using the right keywords. One similar to this that already has a lot of detail, but can still have the limbs animated with the bone tool or weapons even. When I try it seems I have the entire square image and can't use the weapon shape. Note: I am new to flash and have only gone through the first 14 tutorials on this site,which rocks btw

We are using Adobe Flash to produce software for an interactive touch screen kiosk.I have 55 1024x768 24 bit PNG images.I want to play them (fairly regularly...once every 5 minutes or so) without them stuttering but can't find a good dependable way, main problem is I think Flash GC's them after an arbitrary idle period.Reason I'm doing this is because the FLV attempts we have made aren't sufficiently high quality.I also looked at using a H.264 but that obscures any other assets placed over it.I have a number of text fields sitting over this animation. The machine in question is a Core2 Duo, 4GB Ram, GeForce 9500GT.

I want to rotate two images on the y axis. For instance I got two cards, front and back. On EnterFrame I want the rotating movieclip to exchange the front and back cards. I believe I got everything setup I just need help with getting the images to rotate once at that 90 degree angle (you know the angle where we can't see any side of the image/thing rotating?
Thus I'm trying to do something like this but on ENTERFRAME instead of a button click:

I know how to load external images using xml but the problem is if I have a lot of images to load then animate it after being loaded. I know theres a work-around with this problem but still I did'nt figure it out.

If you look at my Flash file "Grid.fla" (again see attached files) you'll see a group of 14 images which are loaded from an XML file ("Grid.xml") and when the user rolls their mouse over an image it uses the Tweener library to animate the image into its full size.
The problem is I need the images to animate into the center of the screen - see an example of what I'm trying to achieve by opening the SWF file within the attached ZIP called "StormGallery.swf".
But I have no idea how to do add this type of animation into my "Grid.fla" file!

I have a read a few ways to animate an image in AS3 and not sure what is the most efficient way.I want to load 4 images(in 4 files) in a class. Each image is a different frame of a walking movement of a character. What I want to do is load all the images in the constructor and assign the sprite the current frame to display.eg sprite=bitmap1 then after some time swap images sosprite=bitmap2 then after some time swap images so etcsprite=bitmap3....Is this the logic you do in AS3?The code loads 1 image so I can change this to 4 images to load (4 bitmaps and 1 sprite for the current frame?)

I am trying to construct coordinates with distance in meters on the x-axis and time in seconds on the y-axis, without using the timeline. How can I draw the divisions on the x-axis and y-axis ? Or I better draw the whole thing.

I've put together this simple code for an SWF with three roll over images (called: Training, Resources and Contact).When I roll over Training I would like the symbol Training_txt to tween its alpha to 1 (from 0) and tween its y axis to 220 (from 83).When I roll out of Training I would like to run the two tweens in reverse.
This works fine for each of the three roll over images, so long as each tween is allowed to fully execute before a new tween is started. The problem arises if i quickly move the mouse curser between the three roll over images before the previous tweens have finished executing.In this instance, the tweened objects start to behave erratically. They usually return to their original position as per the roll_out tween but then start jumping between y axis 200 and y axis 83 (without tweening - they just appear).

I am trying to place an image besides the label in y-axis. So I have created a custom label renderer(A HBox containing and ). The source for the image has to be set based on a property present in the data provider. The problem is, I am not able to access the BarSeriesItem in the fnSetSource() method.

When I use 3D rotation tool, there is an option called global transform, if it turned off, the object would rotate by its own axes, this is exactly what I want. How can I do rotatation like that with AS3 code? Is there any property if changed then rotationX/Y/Z would rotate object by its axes?

when you rotate fe. with greensocks engine on the X/Y/Z axis with text movieclips, the final state is never crisp with me.lets say your clip is at rotationX 30and tweens to 0 , in other words it starts at an angle and displays full frontal at ends. no matter what i try, the font has certain parts crips, certain parts blurryI've been spending this sunday with all different kind of fonts, embedding, textfields, fontsizes (as you know certain fonts have their "sweetspot" size, etc, etc, etc, it just doesn't get sharp after the rotation.Funny enough, when i trace out my rotation angle it says 0i even tried an onComplete event to force its properties to zero. but to no avail.
could make a bitmap data file from my text, but come on... why do they implement 3D while the results are off? Really would like to hear some tips here because i am tempting to go back at away3D. I was hoping with flash CS5 their 3D render for textfields would be alot better compared to "crash"Cs4Yep theres a slight annoyed undertone here. To me, it should be fundamental or at the very least, tweak-able like image resizing with "smoothing".

I'm encountering a weird phenomena. I have a multi nested display object structure. Some of the deeper display objects have MOUSE_CLICK events. But as soon as I set main display item container.rotationX = 5 then the mouse events don't work anymore.

I don't know if this would be more appropriate under the 3D forum but it could go either way. I'm having a problem: when I access the 3D rotation properties of a DisplayObject (specifically a MovieClip containing a Loader and some TextFields), it becomes bitmapped and loses its scalability. Is this supposed to happen, and is there a way to regain scalability after rotationX/Y/Z are set to 0.0?

I created a full flash template website loading external swf's.Lately, I managed to add a fake3D rotation with AS3 and CS4 to this global template with enterFrame.Problem : some of my external swf use a vertical scroller also using an enterframe function based on a startDrag bar with the x / y position of the mouse, the scroller dont work anymore.

i am playing around with the rotationX/Y/Z properties available in flashplayer since version 10. for testing purpose i created a cube and put canvas objects on three sides of it (top, front, bottom) and created a tween to get the values required for turing by 90 deg. turning the cube (a canvas) using rotationX = xx works well when the three side-canvas objects are small and filled with a not-to-complex element hierarchy. when using larger and more complex content it slows down. the next idea was to remove the canvas elements content and replace it by a snapshotimage of the content instead before starting the turn, after the turn is performed the original content is put back on the sides again.
this results in a good perfomance increase. using a tween the last step of rotation is done in the function that is called as the tweenEnd handler. in this function also the process of copying the canvases content back is performed. unfortunately this results in a short hang of the cube right in that last rotation step, the reason for which is that rotation and copying back takes place at the same time. so i could wait for some time after having called cube.rotationX = endValue by using a timer or setTimeout(func, 500), but this is ugly. so my question is: after having called cube.rotationX = endValue a period of time is required to calculate data for the rotation and do the rotation itself. is there a way to find out the point in time when the rotation has ended, so that then the copying can be started ?

I'm using(tweening) the rotationY and rotationX properties on movieclips a layer above a background, bitmap or video, in two respective projects. There is a flickering of the movieclips and some bizarre distortion going on. I can't seem to find anything on the web about this, -has anyone else encountered this problem? Is it a known bug? Is there a workaround?
