ActionScript 3.0 :: Create A MovieClip From Library?
Oct 24, 2008
In my fla file, I created a movieclip in library which links to class MyMovieClip. I add some functions in the class. I fla file, when I drag the movieclip to stage, all the functions are working well. But I want to dynamic create the movieclip in stage(not dragging from library). This is the codes in my first frame of fla:
var tf:MovieClip= new MyMovieClip();
addChild(tf);
but all the time it display those error information: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at MyMovieClip()
at dragExample_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()
anybody can tell me what the problem is and how to dynamically create a movieclip which link to a class.
I create a dot as a movieclip in the library. also i set the linkage to Dot class. Is it OK to create an external class Dot to associate with the movieclp inside the library? if it's ok. I would like to ask that is there any wrong in my code?
Code: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.Event; public class Dot extends MovieClip { [Code]....
I'm trying to write code that will dynamically add a falling leaf to a tree sprite every so-odd frames. But try as I might, I can't get the little retard to appear.[code]...
I want to add MovieClips from the library at runtime onEnterFrame to create a trail behind the movieClip that is moving on stage: [Code]...
This just creates one instance of a movieClip "Follower". But how to make trail like effect - adding movieClips onEnter frame and positioning them according to "mcToFollow"?
I'm creating a mask effect. i create 10 movieclip with a library class reference that appear on the screen with a random alpha effect. THe problem is that if i try the effect alone all works ok. if i mask the layer that contains the effect on an image i don't see the effect. i see directly the image masked with the boxes. i can't explain that because i've the effect first but it seems that when i test the movie the effect doesn't play and the boxes appear directly on the screen.
I have a problem with dragging movieclip which is dynamically generated via attaching movieclip from library.I want to move the movieclip by pressing the yellow square within a boundary say 100*4. I am attaching the flash file with this thread.
Im trying to create an inventory where when you click an object it will automaticly go into your inventory, the inventory is embedded in other movieclips.I have quite a few spaces(movieclips) in the inventory box when it is open but I just need it so when you click an object it attaches to a movieclip in the inventory.I also need it so that if you click a different item it attaches to the next space in the inventory rather than overlapping an item you have clicked before. I would only have only about 15 (or something similar) spaces so if I have clicked 16 items the 16th item cannot go into the inventory.
I have a graphic or movie clip as an example which is a water bottle. An what I wanna do is that depending on what is the user response, in my case is how long the person is doing some activity, depending on that I want flash to generate a number of graphics/movie clips on the screen. As example the person says that takes 6 minutes doing "x" activity, so as a response of a button click which says "generate consumption", it generates on the screen how many water bottles he has consumed for that range of time doing that activity, for example each minute is 2 water bottles, so it has to generate 12 water bottles on the screen when the user press "generate consumption".
When you import a PNG into the library, Flash creates a symbol as well. It doesn't do this for JPGs, so I'm wondering if there's a setting that I can change that. I don't want it to create a new symbol. If it can't be changed, can anyone tell me why it does it for PNG and not JPG?
I am looking to build a set of components for Flash that our developers can use throughout future projects.The components are not covered by the standard set of Flash UI components and I don;t think I need to really extend the UI Interface. Instead I would like to be able to distribute a library of FLA (non-compiled) components so that a developer/designer can simply drag a component out of the Library and then edit it however they wish.Maintaining the ability to edit components is import, and this would be too limited if it meant creating skins or only changing things programatically.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to create a .swc library file that could be used in Flash or Flex?I want to compile a custom package of classes into a .swc for use and download,
I'm having an issue using a class I've created as the base class for library symbols: I've created a class AvSkin which will act as the display for an instance of AvChild. It looks like this:
I simply want to build a slide show from 80 images in my library.So my problem is to create instance of each image(mc) from the library to the stage using a loop
I want to creat an instance of an object out of the movie's library. I know there is that one funky function duplicateMovieClip that will duplicate instances of objects already on the stage, but can I dynamically insert objects when I want to, without having to drag a prototype object onto the stage manually?
I am creating multiple bitmaps within a loop, and placing them inside their own MovieClip. I then have another MovieClip in the Library which I am calling and putting inside the MovieClip generated for the bitmap. Alas I cannot get multiple instances to work of the MovieClip from the Library. I think it must be my syntax in the following code..
Code: for(i=0;i<10;i++){ this['bmp'+i] = new BitmapData(etc,etc) this['box'+i] = new Bitmap( this['bmp'+i] );
Here in Flash CS4 Explorer, I have shapes. It's intuitive that I be able to right-click on Scene1, and be able to Insert Shape. Can't. I go to the frame. Can't. I right-click everywhere. I see 'Create Shape', but everywhere I see it, it's grayed out - won't let me.
How do I create new shapes in the graphics folder in the library of a flash cs4 project?
I need to create an object in code which can then be imported to the stage. Specifically it's a circle with an ellipse cut out of it. The size and position of the ellipse masked out need to be parameterized by sliders, and the size of the circle as a whole is also a parameter which might be dragged out on the stage.
Does anyone have an example of how to programatically create an object in action script which can be imported to the library which can take parameters (or rather expose some methods) which can be wired to other things in the project like a knob or slider?
Im character rigging so im making nested symbols.i was wondering how do i take these nested symbols and create a re-usable symbol library and import these into different files for use.
Assume i have in library 3 items and the linkage names are: _cl_1, _cl_2 and _cl_3. Now i am reading from an xml the values 1,2,3. Or it could be more complex like 2,2,1,3,2,1,2 How can i create the corresponding objects using the xml values?
Is it possible to have a library of PDF documents (files in a folder), and create a splash screen in Flash, even if its a AirApplication, that can search the documents for specific words? I am trying to create a PDF search tool that I can be delivered via CD.
I'm using XML to grab some data and it's working fine :
I have a moveclip, let's call it "box" and a movieclip called "item", for every piece of data from the xml call I'd like to put a new movieclip called "item" into the movieclip called "box".
[code]will create an instance of the movieclip "levelUp_mc" and play it.I have the same code in a function in a class, but it doesn't do anything. What is going on?
