I am making a dynamic image driven game and I am having some problem with preloading all the images at ones, so I am here to seek some help.images is an array that stored the image's url.image_loaded is a variable to see if check how many images have loaded.whenever the image_loaded variables is equals to the images array's length, it will proceed to my desire frame. But for some reason the images isn't showing up all at ones.[code]

I want to create a 2D real time multiplayer game in the browser in Action Script that can do the following:
Client: Player logs into Account via Flash Client. Player hits 'Versus Mode' Button. A lobby with a list of online servers come up. Player joins game. Heres where the problem comes in, I want the servers to be community hosted. i.e. the player downloads and runs a server app on their own desktop for other players to join. Players then go to the website and access the browser based client to find a list of active servers.
This would be a commercial product (players buy an account to log in through the client) and each player hosted server must handle 20 live players. As the servers are not centralized and scalability is handled by the community typical solutions like SmartFoxServer licences will not work.

I'm being asked if some resources I created can be made accessible. Currently each resource is the exact same launch.swf, but each is pulling from a different xml file. I'm so proud of myself! But now it looks like you can't dynamically generate accessilbe resources. I'm being asked for the alt.text equivalent of various text boxes, while the actual content of each box depends on multiple factors.

I am trying to create a dynamic xml driven video playlist, that will display the thumbnail, title and time duration of the video (quite similar to the one on youtube). But I don't know where to begin and I have been googling for some helpful tutorials but cant find anything resourceful.if I shall use the Flash component for scrolling purpose or I shall learn to develop my own scroller with scrollbar.

I am creating a photo gallery using xml and a thumbnail bar at the side. I want each picture to fit into a square without distorting the image, so I will need to use masks. Currently I am using the loadClip metohd for loading pictures then I am attempting to use onLoadInit to dynamically set the masks. It is hard to show the problem on here so I have here's the link..[URL]...
It seems that you can't place "i" values in the onLoadInit part which I tired previously, atm I can only get one to work as you will be able to see.

I bought a flash site template that loads xml driven swfs inside the main swf as different menu items are clicked. The modules that come with the template work fine, but I don't know how to add a third party xml driven swf, so that it shows up properly. While the third party swf works fine as a standalone, the embedded version loads just an empty movie.

I have seen many tutorials on how to create xml-driven, thumbnail-based image galleries, but I am looking for one which can do a "Before and After" photo effect. I'm designing a realtor's website and want a "before and after" gallery to show work being done on some homes, before construction and after construction. So, basically, you have two photos, same size, overlaying each other, and use maybe an Alpha fade to "merge one photo into another"? Something which slowly fades one into another, not just something which does a complete Alpha fade out, then a complete Alpha fade in.

change the width of the dynamic text field that each text nav item from the xml loads into so that the width changes depending on what is in the xml.
So the width of the button would change depending on the ammount of characters entered.

I have been using AS3 for approximately 1 year now, and although I havent really done any major projects with it, I am fairly confident using it. However, There is 1 part that I am very curious about. At the moment, I am using the design section of flash cs5 to create my assets. I am trying to make database driven applications, and the problem I have run into with using the design section is that you must manually program each symbol.
For example, If I wanted to make a dropdown menu, and a php file was passing the variables such as "amountOfSections = 5", Then 5 sections would be displayed. This is fine to do using alpha to control what is visible etc, but if there where 5000 dropdown menu items, I would have to physically place 5000 dropdown items onto the stage. I know that it is possible to use as3 to create objects AS THEY ARE NEEDED, but I have no idea how to do it.

i've designed an xml driven photogallery using actionscript 3.0. First when the swf file is run, all the thumbnails load in, Then I have thumbnails below, when i click them the large image loads in. So I'm not 100% sure if it's possible, but what I'd like to do is take a model that someone has created for a game, say in Blender or something similar, in various formats, and from that create an image to show on a website. Are there any Java libraries around? Java3D maybe? Or even something in Flash? Ideally you'd be able to rotate the model in some embedded flash app, but I'd settle for a plain old image.

I'm trying to implement a dynamic starfield into the game blaster mines (chapter 11) from the book "The Essential Guide To Flash Games" (from Jeff and Steve Fulton) but had no success yet. I built a separate starManager.as class and a BasicBlitArrayStar.as class for it. Also I'm using a pool for inactive and active stars (basically I think it's the same method when building the projectiles or rather particles except that the stars move only when the mouse moves (using the same direction).

Currently it's not working. The inactive pool is full of stars but when I try to draw them on the background I can see absolutely no star. Even when there is an active star available it doesn't draw it on the background. The goal is a starfield that uses similar techniques from the framework like particles and projectiles do. I have some things in mind like getting the child index for creating different star layers but currently I'm not able to realize it properly.

I am making a big big big game, and I came across a huge problem. My game has over 60 unique units, which mean that the library of my .fla file is REALLY huge. Flash just can't handle it anymore, and crashes every 5 min. I can't optimize it(already did) and I can't cut through the content. I think I found a solution: I will load my units from external .swf. Sooo, the thing is, I want to load these swf only once, at the start of the game. Here is how it goes: I divided my units in many packets, and set every unit to be "exported for Actionscript" in the library. This way, ill load the .swf and its library at the beginning of the game and I will be able to attach the units MC over runtime.

i am making a game with scrolling background. I am using a tiled background.inactionscript I was going to hide background objects off the screen but this cause memory to still be taken up by the hidden images so what do i do?the scrolling background isnt repeating so i could have 4-5 screens of image tiles off screen and made invisible until required.

I have a MC called image_mc. When I load an image from XML, I want the centre of the image to be over the MC.Here is my code which isn't working. Currently, it positions the top left of the image at the MC regardless if the image is portrait or landscape.

My game is rather dependant on dynamic text fields, for giving players in game hints, signalling to them how far they've progressed (round/wave), how many points they've scored for destroying an enemy ect.
It's come to my attention that, the game lags whenever I update these dynamic text boxes. This happens particularly with the in game messages, (black glow filter) that fade in and out. Without any dynamic text messages at all, the game seems to run fine even on battery saving mode/slow computers.
Is there anyway to keep the dynamic text and get rid of the lag? I think I've tried all the different options for the textfields (I'm using CS4):Character Embedding Bitmap/Antialiazed text (Bitmap works slightly better) Multiline/single line Non selectable [URL]..

So Im working on a very simple drag and drop flash game using AS3. Everything is complete but I'm having an issue with the dynamic text. For some reason when you drop the item onto its target and accompanying dynamic text is all effed up.. for example when it should say "Try Again!" it says "r ain!".. I've been banging my head for the last few hours with no luck..And here is my code:

I have here a bubble popping game where bubbles fall from top of the game to the bottom and the player tries to pop as many bubbles as possible in 30 seconds. It is a 3 frame game, 1st frame is the start button, 2nd frame is the game, 3rd frame is the score and play again. 1st frame: Buttons to go to the second frame 2nd Frame: timer to count 30 seconds of play time 3rd frame: buttons to play again. ScoreValue is a dynamic textbox in the last frame of the game. It records the points based on size the size scale of the bubble, and should be change based on the amount of bubbles the player has popped.

Im getting this as output in my program, does any one know why? Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts.

I get my random amount of boxes scattered over my stage (I haven't put in any checks to see if they are touching). How do I 'name' these boxes so I can reference them later? Say I want to move the .x of boxA in another function? Is there a simple way to call them box+z instead of just all as box? (Then I can run them through a loop later to talk to them).

I'm making a small Flash game, which is rotating rings in an image to create a coherent picture. Think of the puzzles in Assassins Creed.I have three scenes set up, one with the puzzle, one with a fade to white transition, and one with a congratulatory screen.
I have this code to check if the orientation of the rings match, but I'm really new to actionscript so I'm not sure if it's right or not.

I am going to develop a very simple game for android and for iphone/ipad I have the option to develop it in cocos2d or in adobe flash air (i am not a developer, but i have 2 developers who are offering me the service)I have a developer that states that cocos2d is better and other one that states that adobe flash air.I want it in cross platform.the cost offered by both developers is the same..i have heard that adobe air has the flaw that it is very slow, is this real? if you had the 2 options which will you use to develop your game and why?
