i want to control a movie clip with two buttons, one backwards and one forwards, the movie is 25 frames long and needs to stop at every 5 frames each time one of the buttons is clicked. Below is some code i have been trying to get to work

basically im making a quiz on my main timeline ive got my questions and answers and on the last frame i want it to say how many answers the user got right. ive made a movie clip on this last frame. in the movie clip ive got 11 frames with the posible totals so frame one would be 0/10 frame 2 would be 1/10 etc what i want to do is when the user clicks the correct answer on the other frames i want flash to make the frames within the movie clip to go 1 step forward.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Movie Controls Don't Render In Ie8 The 2nd Time Loading

I find it kind of weird that IE8 would render my as3 different than firefox, and that I can't trust the movie player. I'm creating my movie object code using jquery and javascript. When I play the movie in the modal display the first time, it play and renders correctly. On the second time, the play controls dissappear.
 
I have spend about a 2 days on this, and have isolated it down to this object. It looks like the stage.stagewidth is inconsistent after the 1st time the object loads on a clients browser. Once the file gets cached by IE8 in the temp folder, it seems to change.
 
So I have replaced the stage.stagewidth with a var that is pased via flash vars, fv_Player_Width, which is 640.

I can load movies fine, but i havent used transport buttons yet :S

I have a movie clip with 15 frames. Each frame has buttons on it (mc's)... I was going to put the actions on the main timeline/stage and navigate within the MC from the main timeline. Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I was thinking I could identify the path of the MC with the frame labels, but that doesn't seem to work. like: _root.RMChanger.(frame label).buttonOnFrame = function

I have to move a text box in and out over the MC backgrounds on the main stage... which is why I was thinking to do it this way? I've been switching back and forth bwtween AS2.0 and 3.0

I'm using a movie clip as a button to show content on a page, effectively its like a new page of the website. Problem is, with the script im using for it, once the content is show, the button is still active and if clicked again, will re-load the content. I want a way to effectively disable the button whist the content is shown.

I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to Actionscript 3. Basically I have a movie that a different frames I need it to pause for different lengths of time. So for example on frame 10 I want it to wait 10 seconds before continuing to play and then on frame 20 I want it to wait 8 seconds before moving on, etc. I found some code that I put on frame 10 and it worked fine, but when I tried to put it on frame 20 it generated errors and it didn't pause:

I have a CS5 FLA file with AS 3.0 with the following code for the preloader:

The preloader is in the first four frames -- it's just the background photo, a graphic logo, and the loading numeral text.

Everything runs great the first time it's loaded; then if you refresh the page, the graphics in the first four preloader frames flash on the screen before the movie plays.

We have a short video of a street, which we are looking to pause when it is clicked and then all the hazards turn into drawings and flash. Then when you hover over a hazard it tells you some info about it.I have managed to get the video to stop when clicked, using the below code but can't get the movie clip of the flashing hazards to play at the same time. not sure how difficult this is going to be, but I have 30 movie clips, which will all be sequentially numbered. (pos1, pos2, pos3......pos30). They will all have the same functions, with the only change being the number. I know there is a more efficient way to write this code using arrays, but I will need help with it. I would rather have 10 lines of code than 150. I also need help with writing the code, that will disable all other movie clips, once the first one is clicked. Normally, I want the movie to play the tween that spans from 25 to 35, then stop UNLESS a button has been clicked back on frame 24 - then I want the tween played from 25 to 35 then jump to 46.Problem is, in the button function code, if I have...gotoAndPlay(25); gotoAndPlay(46);the timeline jumps straight to 46 - it doesn't play 25-35. Why?I tried putting a timer in between the two gotoAndPlays, but itignored that too and jumped to 46.o how do I tell it - 'play from 25-35 and stop, unless but_a was pressed back on Frame 24 - then play 25-35, and then play 46' ?

I added a website preloader in a separate scene to the main frame of my website and scripted it to go to and Play the main scene or frame of the website when finished loading. I then put a command in the first frame of the main scene for the movie to stop (); at that point. The problem is that now the buttons on the main page don't respond to any behaviour commands to go to and stop at other frames in the main scene. I'm not sure if this is a conflict between the stop(); command in the main scene and the button behaviour command to go to and stop at another frame or an error with the way I'm identifying the scene and frame.

It's supposed to cause each of five movie objects to correspond and go to a different named frame when they are clicked. The problem is that regardless of which one is clicked, it always goes to "animation." I tested it out by changing the name of the animation frame. The result was that it then always went to the "publication" frame. It would seem that it goes to the last valid named frame in the script.[code]...

I've got about 6 buttons laid out, one on top of the other in a list format. In their normal state the buttons are grey in colour, when I rollover them, the buttons flash and turn to orange. Now, what I need to happen is this: I want the buttons to stay orange once clicked and only roll out back to grey when the user has clicked on another button in the list. I've been told that the best way to do this is via adding a listener, however I am a little unsure as to how to go about this. I've checked the flash help file and have a basic understanding of how listeners work...but can't really wrap my head around applying it to this situation. Perhaps I will need to have all the buttons as separate broadcasters?

I have a 4 frame game that moves from frame to frame depending on what the player does.On the first frame, I have an intro and a button to get to the main portion of the game, frame 2.  The frame loads up and the game code runs, but until the player clicks again on the stage, the keyboard controls do not function.The code for the button is straight forward. there seems to be no accepted method of playing multiple flv using buttons. My latest attempt has me putting multiple instances of the flvPlayback component in different frames and using buttons to navigate to those frames. It works but nothing anyone has posted anywhere will result in removing the flv when you go to a different frame and instance. This was simple in AS2. Load movie to a traget and each time you load a new movie the other one goes away. REALLY goes away.

I use eventListeners to jump between frames.One of my frames displays a video. I imported the video as a component using the 'import video' function.It plays fine.When navigating away from the video I use the myVideo.stop(); command in AS3 to stop the video from continuing to play.or some reason, when I do this the buttons on my main page stop working.The code I use on the movie frame is:

my reverse button causes the timeline to ignore the stop() function on its keyframe and play backwards all the way to the start. Since it keeps trying to play the previous frame, it's frozen at frame 1.
