get a tween function to left and a tween function to center from right?
i have a swf object in my page, and i want it to have 100%width (entire screen) but i want the swf to be aligned to the left. with the following code it gives me the 100%width but the swf is aligned to the center of the page, is there a way to change the alignment?

I have an application with width/height of 100%. I have several nested groups within and their measurements are all not set, instead being defined as top=5 or left/right=10, etcI'm trying to get the actual with of a group that should be 390. I've set the swf object size to be 400 from the html embed code, and the group is inside another group that is width=100%. The group has a left=5 and right=5 so the width should be 400-10. When I display the .width and .measuredWidth of this group, the width is always 400.I'm fairly new to flex/flash. Do I need to have explicitly set widths in order to get the width of child containers? Is there something I'm doing wrong here?
View 3 RepliesI have published my movie to take up 100% of the width and height of the screen.It takes up the entire height of the screen, but there is about a 10 pixel gap on the left and right side of the movie.
View 2 RepliesI know you can extend (without stretching) a motion tween's timeline to the Right with Shift-Drag.
Anyway to do the same thing to the Left? Nothing works for me, and I often need to extend the beginning of a tween without moving all the keyframes....

View 5 RepliesImagine you have 10 movie clips, only 1 is visible on stage at any time. Using the arrow keys for example, you can move through the movie clips, click left and the one on screens moves left and the next one in line moves in from the right. When you reach number 10, and you click left, number 10 will move off left and number 1 will come back on right. And vice versa.
This is what I have to try to get worked out. Currently I have a variable which keeps track of which panel is displaying, and as I click on one of two movie clips I check with a conditional to see if that variable is >10 or <1 and then either + or - 1 appropriately, or set it to either 1 or 10, so that number loops.
So that logic part works. What I now need to do is cleanly work out the tweening of the movie clips. I'm using TweenMax. I am currently using another conditional that gets told if the user pressed left or right, then it uses a switch to check the current panel number, and then after all of that it tweens the correct stuff. But that's a huge load of code and I reckon there must be a cleaner way.

I'm using the tween class and have a rectangle which i would like to expand to the left. The only way i have been able to achieve this is if i pass my function a negative value, but this basically turns the rectangle over. Is there anyway to have it just start expanding for the left hand side out towards the left?

I'm trying to make some manual transitions. Because I don't know AS3, and I'm building this from the help of Google, I've started with a simple "blind" transition just to figure out the works.
The issue is that when I expand the width, it seems as though all my AS3 created sprites seem to reset their x position, and sit on the left. That or 15 of the tweens aren't working.

We are trying to get a Rectangle that represents the exact* boundary of the text in a TextField.
*Exact as possible.

Using my current knowledge, I can retrieve the blue rectangle above like so:

I am trying to do a apply a tween for the width property on a MovieClip Object but every time it changes the width and the position too, and I don't want that. I want to change the width going to one side without changing the x and y of the object.
I tried both of thes and they gave the same result.

I think it is applying the transformation according to a center of the movie clip. but I don't know how it can be changed.

I could compute their heights and successively set the y but I was wondering if there was an easier way to do it.

how can I animate the 2nd tween after 3 seconds when 1st tween stops.
My vision is to have a colored square at the top of the site Im working on which should span across the entire browser window. I have created a square 1280 x 100 pixels in size and imported it to the stage, alignment is set to x=0, y=0 ad alignment. The scene is the same size as the square I 've imported. When I view my Flash creation its displayed 8 pixels from the top left corner of the browser window. The flash file only contains the square and nothing else. take a look at the 3 files I've attached: issue-scrreen1-3.jpg. The first 2 screens are my Flash, properties and library screen shots. The third screen shot is my browser window.

It's probably a no brainer, but I've spent the last 40 minutes or so looking for it to no avial.
I have a Canvas control with a fixed width and a horizontal scrollbar.I'm trying to find the actual width of the control.The .width (fixed width) + the part being revealed by the scrollbar.I tried explicitWidth, width + maxHorizontalScrollPosition, and some other combos but non of them hit the spot.
I am looking at the SimpleButton entirely wrong. Here's what I'm doing (inside of a MovieClip):

the close_btn.width and height remain 0. Am I supposed to just rely on the DisplayObject members of the SimpleButton completely and ignore width/height/x/y or what?
is there a way to make a minimum width and stop resize? I have a menu I am building that is locked to the bottom of the browser and 3 buttons on the left and a movieClip on the right. When you resize the browser window - currently - you can make the button on the right sink under the three on the left.

panning my content from left to right (with stop as intervals) then right to left (also with intervals)
1. I created an mc (name: "content")Notice in this mc, I layout 4 sets of text (like a page) from left to right
2. I created another mc (name: "pancontent_mc")
-I added a layer for "content" and created a motion tween for it to pan from left to right
-I created a mask layer on top of "content" that will show 1 set at a time
-I created an action layer that has total of 4 stops(); on each frame where the 4 sets of text will show directly under the mask.
3. maintimeline -There's only 1 layer. I placed an instance of buttons (left/right) and an instance of "pancontent_mc"
4. actions for right button, works fine and stops on each set of text.

5. actions for left button - none. I havent figured this out yet.

I've got a TileList with verticalScrollPolicy="on".
Is there a property that returns the width of the tileList minus the width of the scrollbar?
