Actionscript 2.0 :: Pause Time Line Until Button Clicked?
Apr 30, 2009
I want to pause my timeline until a button is pressed on the mouse. i want it to work like a powerpoint presentation would. i know how to pause the timeline for x amount of seconds but i want to be able to pause the timeline until the user is ready to continue with the next section.
the application i am building is for kids to teach them about writing skills and the section i want to pause it on is where the kids will be asked to complete a task before the next section is played. the next section will be how they should have answered the last section.
I was wondering how I might pause my main time line with AS3, currently I'm using the following code for AS2 and it does exactly what I need it to do.[code]
I am trying to make an animation that will pause and start again after a certain time. The problem is I don't have any experience with Actionscript (or programming of any sort for that matter)..I found this link that appears to explain how it's done, but I can't seem to replicate it. I'm not even sure which version of Actionscript this is.. [URL]
I am trying to set up a presentation with small clips (pictures that fade in and out) but I need to insert pause so I can provide some explanations to the public. I create a button and inserted an action (stop) on a specific frame, then on click, the timeline move on to the next frame and the animation starts again. This works well. this is the code snippets I used
I have a mc inside a frame on the main time line. a button on the main time line. i want to play the movie each time the button is clicked. another situation is i hv loaded a movie using loadMovie command. i want to play it again. currently i m using unloadMovie & loadMovie in succession. is there any other way of doing it...
I am looking for a quick and easy way to store variables in a text file, rather than use amfphp to connect to a database all I need to do is increment values every time a button is clicked. Would be better if all the vars were in the same text file but if I have to have one per var that would be ok.
My issue is that for my website I want there to be movies in between the interactive parts of it where the interfaces slide in and out. However, I can't stop a movie from playing over and over instead of playing once and going to the next frame. With 2.0 I haven't been able to find any research that helps me, probably because I don't know the correct keywords to search for.Right now I have my main time line set up with a loading bar on frames 1 & 2, that then jumps to frame 3 where I have embedded a movie (Instance named: mc_start) of the interface sliding in. Preferably after that I need it to jump to frame 4 where the actual interface is.
I can get the movie to end by going into the embedded movie's time line and simply have stop() ; at the final frame, but I can't get it to go to frame 4 on the main time line. If I having something like gotoAndPlay(4) ; on the final frame of the embedded movie's time line, it simply goes to frame 4 of the embedded time line and not frame 4 of the main time line. If there was a command to make it jump back to the main time line instead of the embedded time line, that would work perfectly.Coding on Frame 3 of the main time line to jump to Frame 4 would work if I knew the correct language to detect when the movie has ended (Movie is 191 frames long), so that afterwards it would immediately jump to Frame 4, but I haven't been able to find any resources that will teach me how to do it. Right now having gotoAndPlay(4) ; on Frame 3 of the main time line obviously makes it immediately skip the movie on Frame 3 and jump to Frame 4.
What I have is a movieclip and a button in scene 1 (which is the main timeline). There is an actionscript layer also on the main timeline. what I want to do is when I click the button, it would do a nextFrame(); in the movieclip timeline instead of the main timeline.
I have some banners I am doing right now and have a pause timer question. I am fairly green at coding. In my first frame I have this:
[Code]...
I want it to pause each time in the last frame for 8 seconds and loop only 3x. Is there a better way to write this? I know all my code should be in the first frame but I still suck.
I am using Macromedia Flash Pro 8. I have a flash intro that has words (phrases) which slide in. I would like to add a 7 second pause between each phrase to give people time to read them (no buttons). Could someone tell me the script(s) to use with all functions, etc. included - as I am so new to all this. I have been looking for weeks & tried many codes but none seem to work - or I don't know exactly where to place them - or both
I'm working on making a nitrogen tank that inflates a balloon a little bit more every time you click the tank. How do you set it up to go to a specific shape tween each time it is clicked, and then have it stop and make a reset button appear?
Baisically I've created a button using symbol and I want the button to move a movie clip up the y axis by 4 every time it is clicked (move the movie.) I really don't know how to do this. This is what I currently have but its not ActionScript:
I have a Movie Clip with two key frames. One Button sits on key frame 1 and changes its position in frame 2 (its instance name remains the same.) The Movie Clip is created dynamically and placed on the stage via code, then mouse click listeners are added to the button. My question is this: When the Movie Clip transfers from fram1 to frame 2, will I need to add the listener back to the button? In addition, I noticed that when I use key frames to move a Graphic Object, sometimes the object behaves like a singe object that is moved and sometimes it behaves like several objects that are created and destroyed in different locations.
I am trying to create a pause button that will pause everything on the screen including movieclips/audio. Right now I can't figure out how to pause the movieclips.
I have a flash video that is set to autoplay when the page loads. We've just implemented thickbox/lightbox system on it now so when you click on the video it enlarges into that new frame. Problem is, when that's done the video/audio is still playing while the video in the thichbox is playing too. know a code that would trigger the video to pause when clicked anywhere on the video screen? Right now the videos being tested at this link -[URL]I don't currently have the video linked up to lightbox, just a link above the video to expand. With FLVPlayback, this is my current code (it's currently coded and set up so the video autoplay starts at 52 seconds)...

I have 4 navigation button and like home, about us etc.... And i want to disable home when it is click and cannot clicked it until the user click another button first. means if a visitor is at home page then home navigation is disabled, and all other are active, and when they click at aboutus button then the pages goes to the about us page and the about us button is disabled and other get active. I want this solution in AS3 with oop concept.
I've got about 6 buttons laid out, one on top of the other in a list format. In their normal state the buttons are grey in colour, when I rollover them, the buttons flash and turn to orange. Now, what I need to happen is this: I want the buttons to stay orange once clicked and only roll out back to grey when the user has clicked on another button in the list. I've been told that the best way to do this is via adding a listener, however I am a little unsure as to how to go about this. I've checked the flash help file and have a basic understanding of how listeners work...but can't really wrap my head around applying it to this situation. Perhaps I will need to have all the buttons as separate broadcasters?
I have a time line of 1441 frames my frameRate is 24 fps so it takes 1 minute exactly to complete the timeline animation I want to Display the Remaining time as file starts I need formula to place in ENTER_FRAME event which displays the time left

i want to duplicate a line 4 times, and move each line on Yaxis, with a delay of 1sec each time. I know i must use setinterval+duplicateMovieClip, but i've got pbs :-( actually, i've got my AS code on my line :
I've tried to incorporate Flash seamlessly into a website and the results are pretty clean, but when people actually click a button on the SWF, a grey dotted line appears around the sides of the Flash. This is in Firefox 3 only, but that's what the client uses.
I have an external loaded mc text file scrolling and easingjust fine, my only issue is that when first pressed (scroller_mc),it jumps half way down my scroll line (line_mc). Every thing elseworks perfect after the scroll button (scroller_mc) makes theinitial jump to the middle of the scroll line. I have followed utorial 4 times and saw no mention of a bug, and
//---------------code---------------// var textLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var textFile:URLRequest = new
I have a menu with five nav buttons (atcually MovieClips). Each has three frame labels: "on", "stay", and "off". The rollover and rollout animations play flawlessly, but I'm at a loss as to how to give each button a sticky "active" state. I'd like the button to stay in it's active state until another button is clicked, then I would like it to play it's "off" animation. Each MC has this code:
