I have a lot of Flash files for which I need to export jpgs of their last frame. write a command for moving the timeline's playhead to the last frame, then exporting a jpg (at Full Document Size, 72 dpi, 96% quality)?

I apologize if this questions has already been asked and answered. I tried searching through the Flash forum and was unable to find the answer I was looking for. I am very new to Flash and apologize for the simplicity of the question, but I am having trouble moving the playhead along the timeline in Flash. For example, when I open up a new Flash project, and start out with the initial layer with it's single frame, I am having trouble moving the playhead forward to frame i.g. "75" or "80". My questions is, can I not move the playhead because I do not have content past frame one or can I not move the playhead because I have accidentally initiated a button or action that will only allow me to scrub my playhead through frames with content. On the off chance I had done this, I tried restarting Flash with the default settings with no success. Again, I realize this may be a very simple question and I am hoping the answer will be the same.

So I made a ridiculously long Flash animation, but now I have to break down to certain parts. It's all made in one scene.
My question is can I start the playhead on a frame other than frame 1. Say frame 595, I've tried gotoAndPlay(595);, but to no avail. I've searched for a good 2 hours on this too. Is something so simple not possible in Flash?

I am in the final stages of building my new web site: http:[url]....On most of the pages in the portfolio there is a video "Commentary" link (top right corner).Each of the commentaries are flv called up by f.ex:
myMCL.loadClip("http:url.....);
Once the video is done playing, it fades to black.I would really like the flv to trigger an event to send the playhead to another frame and load another swf.I could use a pause command and let the main time line pause so many milliseconds and then proceed, but it is probably not consistent how long it takes each viewer to download the video and watch it.

I'm unable to make it work :Flash exports the first frame in the SWF file as a PNG file, unless you mark a different keyframe for export by entering the #Static frame label.When publishing the fla, the png is build from the frame that is currently displayed in flash (if my timeline is at frame 3, frame 3 get exported)

I'm using the FLV playback component in AS2 published to Flash 9.
I'm loading in a list of possible FLV (and mp4) videos from XML and then based on the user's input setting the contentPath of the component.
I'm using the external steel playback controls--although I've tried some of the other ones as well.
The video is starting just fine. The metadata is received. But for some reason the little triangle that shows how much of the video has played isn't moving. I can drag it and seek around, but then the triangle just sits there.
I've checked the playheadUpdate event and it is giving the correct percentages every little bit (I'm guessing 250 milliseconds which it says is the default interval).

I making an animation for a preloader.In the animation, a 'line' draws a picuture.There are many lines,and I would like a mask to follow the lines so that it appears that they are being drawn.There are so many that it would be difficult to do this manually by moving a mask frame by frame with motion tweens.

I am having difficulty with getting the playhead to move inside a movieclip based on the horizontal or vertical position of the mouse on the screen. I can get the horizontal motion to move the playhead, but I can't get the vertical movement to do the same. I have attached the document class .as file for it.

I was told that putting code on buttons is bad practice now. So, I'm trying to move my button codes to my main actionscript frame. I did it find with the play and stop/pause buttons. However, the rewind and forward buttons are proving more difficult How would the code look if I transferred it from my button to my actionscript frame I'll post the code I have right now in my rewind button.

If I have for example a simple timeline with 2 labels.The first one is called "Intro" and the second one is called "Loop".So I would like to make the playhead start on frame 1 ("Intro" starts) and when it gets to frame 100 ("Loop" ends), make it loop 3 times and then go back to frame 1.So I would simply write the code:

Lets say it does, how would it increment loops to more than 1, if when its incremented to 1 the playhead goes to frame 1, runs that code again, so loops would be assigned 0 again, right?

to stop the playhead at a frame in a movieclip should AS3 use "MovieClip(this).stop();" rather than just "stop();" ?
the movieclip is nested within several others dynamically and therefore cannot easily be referenced directly from the stage, if that would be otherwise preferable...

I am creating a website that should have music playing abilities. (Sounds cool that way lol). I have a music player MovieClip and in it, it has some actions. It is placed on a frame on the main timeline. I also have an actions layer that has some code controlling other contents of that page on the site.
The music player works fine but when I leave the frame which the music player is loaded on the main timeline, the music keeps playing. How do I stop it?

Ok so I have a function (loadthm1) on frame 1 of the main time line. I want to call it from inside a movie clip as the playhead passes a frame. In as2 I could just say _parent or _root.functionName(); but in as3 I get a undefined method error. How do I point to the function and call it?

I have simple flash CS4 file (AS3) with a video playback component in a movie clip called "video". The only other thing in this flash movie is a script to load another SWF file as soon as the video is done playing....If I use stop() on the frame with the video - it will play - but then the playhead will not move forward to the next frame which has the next script and if I leave the stop() off - it plays only a a few frames of the video and moves on to the next frame and executes the script that loads the swf file.
Everything I've read requires a button event - and I don't need a button. I just need the video to play - then the next script to execute.Here are the only scripts in the flash movie:

I am currently having the unfortunate experience of learning Flash Pro as part of my degree program at school. I have been having a problem with the program crashing repeatedly. I have CS4 Web Premium, an educational discount edition, and am using it on an HP pc with an AMD Athlon and Nvidia v-card. I have had problems with it crashing on this computer when using tools such as the deco-tool and sometimes when transforming something. The real problem is when I try to use one of the Dell pc's at school to work on a file I have created at home on the HP. On 4 different machines at school Flash will crash when working on one of these files, especially when scrubbing the playhead on the timeline. The program will crash over and over, to the point where I can't really work on these files at school, which is a huge waste of time.

Anyone might know why a movie I'm attaching with 'attachMovie ' method screws up my preloader? During the preview my preloader disappeared. So I clicked off the 'export in 1st frame' check box and suddenly my preloader shows.

My website has hundreds of flash graphs that are all being updated automatically via web services and external xml. My boss wants to publish a book now and the publisher needs the graphs in vector format. My problem is that the flash graphs first load data, then draw the charts dynamically.
Is there any solution to export the SWF after it has loaded my data and preserve the dynamically generated graph? Some graphs have a drill down feature that is only accessible after there is user interaction. These sub-graphs are important to capture in that moment.
Screen shots are not vectors, so they will not work.
I basically need to find a way to export a swf frame after its done loading.

I am using Flash CS3, and creating a game in AS2. Is there a way I can make a movieclip export in another frame other than 1st? Such as frame 3? I had to uncheck all of the movieclips exporting in frame 1, but now they don't work. Is it possible to export them in Frame 3?

I am making a site in flash and trying to add a preloader. I followed some steps from this [URL] and it says to change the AS settings to export classes on frame 2. This makes the preloader work but now I cannot see any items added to the stage from the library. In my init() function I tried adding gotoAndStop(3); but that doesnt do anything. [URL]The main file is Test.fla. The code that adds the objects that I cannot see is in Test.as and the objects that I cannot see are menuBG, menuBGL, menuBGR, menuBGB, shader, grid, and imageStatus, or anything that is imported from the library.

is it possible to use attachMovie without exporting the MC in the first frame.because i tried to do it so i wouldn't have problems preloading, but when i uncheck export in first frame it doesn't show up at all. here is my code just in case it mattered.
i have five buttons 'b1, b2, b3, b4 and b5' and 5 mc 'words1, words2, words3, words4, and words5' being attached to an empty mc on root called 'holder'.

I made a thread about this over on ultrashock and nobody seemed to know the answer, so maybe Kirupa knows! It's like this, I've got a music file in the library of my flash, and I want to play it using ActionScript. So far so good, so I go into properties of the music file and check for it to export for actionscript, and export it to frame 1. But what I've noticed is that then the music file loads BEFORE the preloader, so the preloader doesn't show up in this relatively small flash until it's at the very end. Before that it just seems like the flash isn't working cause nothing shows up. But if I uncheck ""export to frame 1", the sound won't play at all! So what I'm wondering is how I export the sound to actionscript AFTER the preloader

I have several small movie clips saved in the library of myCS4 Flash.fla file, I want to make them available to dynamically add to the display list as children, based on the button clicks of the viewer. I can get it all to work fine via Symbol Properties > Linkage > Export for Actionscript. When the movie clips are set to "export for actionscript" from the Library, playback seems to hang on frame 1 until all of these exported assets have downloaded.
The big problem is that I have an ultra-simple but totally custom preloader/progress animation coded in a loop in the second and third frames, which kicks out to frame 4 and continues playback as soon as the download is complete. Because of this, the preloader has essentially become useless - because all that can be seen is several seconds of empty stage, until the vast majority of the bulky assets have downloaded. Then the preloader flashes onstage for just an instant, and disappears because the content is already up.
So, my questions are:
A) Is there a SIMPLE alternate method to load these library assets in such a way that it doesn't cause this major lag on frame 1?
B) Failing that, I suspect I may have to retool my preloader to run as an ENTER_FRAME event in frame 1. Is this worth the effort (can this potentially resolve the lag issue and allow for a meaningful preload progress animation, despite the lag from the asset export?)
