ActionScript 2.0 :: Time-based Animation - Animations To Play At Certain Times?

Aug 29, 2006

I recently got back into animating and I need some help with my latest project. I have a number of different animations that I would like to be played on the inside of a tv, however I would like for these animations to play at certain times. For example, at 9:00 pm (real time) the tv displays the animation of the character sleeping. I'm not sure how to do this, and I'm not sure if I need an internal clock.

Animation To Play When Mouse Over The Area But Still Other Times?

May 3, 2009

I'm creating a mini site for a course I'm doing and I have a row of buttons that have an image of a character that I want to animate when the viewers mouse goes over them. I'm not good with action script and I'm stumped on what to look up when googling for an answer.

Ideally I would like the row of buttons (that the chacters sit in - and when they are clicked they go to that characters main page) to animate - ie blink or move slightly but when the viewer hovers their mouse over them they then go into a new animated sequence - so I guess that would require two movieclips - so that would mean that the first animation of a blink would run all the time (I can do that bit! ) but how to get it to switch to another movieclip for the duration of the mouse hover - and to only play when the mouse is in that area (I've done scrolling image bars before and I hated the way it scrolled even when the mouse was no where near the images!)

this is a very rough bare bones of the flash page I'm doing - I've attached it to my main website just so others can see what I'm talking about. [URL] all the squares at the bottom will have a characters in them and I want them to do very subtle things like blink or the occasional wave but when someone goes to click on them they wave or jump around - this would stop if the viewer then moves the mouse away and it goes back to the initial movieclip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Play Intro Animation Just One Time

Jun 26, 2011

In the timeline I have a main menu on frame 1 and four subsections on frames 10,20,30, and 40. I have four buttons on the main menu label("button001"; "button002";"button003", and "button004"), each one is sending the movie to a specific label (i.e: "section001", frame 10; "section002", frame 20; "section003", frame 30; and "section004", frame 40). In each one of those specific frames/labels (10,20,30,and 40) I have a movie clip that contains the section. It starts with a simple animation and ends in a stop. And this is what I want to do: play the animation just once.

Let's say in the main menu; when pressing one of the four buttons, the movie goes to one of those specific frames and the animation starts. For instance, I press "button001" and send my movie to the "section001" label. Then I return to the main menu and press again the "button001"; I don't want the animation to play again, I want to start in the stop point. So, I think about using some kind of conditional, but it's not working. Inside the "section001" movie, I put the following code on the first frame:

ActionScript Code:
stop();
var section001_intro = false;
if (section001_intro = true){
//"section001_stop" is a label I put on the last frame of the movie clip
gotoAndStop("section001_stop");
}else{
nextFrame();
}

Then on the last frame, when the movie stops, I wrote this code:
ActionScript Code:
var section001_intro = true;

So, my idea is that the first time the movie is played, the animation is played; then, I indicate in the last frame that the move has been played. next time I go to the "section001" label the movie must skip the animation and go directly to the "section001_stop" label.

Flash :: Timeline Based Animations On The IPhone / IPad

Jun 10, 2010

How would you go about creating a timeline animation for an iPhone or iPad application? I'm looking for something like a timeline animation in Flash. I don't need a technical explanation on how to program it, though.So here are some general questions:

- I read something about UIView for PNG sequences, but aren't these kind of animations resource intensive? And what about filesize? PNG can't be compressed like jpeg.

- What about vector-like animations? These would save a lot of kb's.

- Are there animation frameworks like TweenLite/TweenMax/Tweener/... (some well known frameworks for animations in ActionScript)?

For Example:

But it doesn't work. I can't seem to change the value of "poop" with code. It only accepts a value that I place, ex. var poop = 2, but that doesn't let me change it.

ActionScript 3.0 :: CPU Intensive Animation - Get These Huge Animations To Run In The Background Smoothly?

Jan 24, 2009

So I'm building a music site for a client, he's got a record theme so I thought it would be cool to build the site to look like a big turn table with all the content on the record.the record is designed to spin (not as disorienting as you'd think, just the grooves spin)...but the record image, which I did in Photoshop, is huge.

It was just slowing things down to a near crawl in browser. So I split the record image into four pieces and then mirrored them to get the full piece of the pie. It worked, but it's still running slightly slow. I do have a couple of blending options set to act as lights over the record...I tried deleting them to see if it would run faster, it's still jumpy. When the record is not moving(there's a button to turn it off) everything runs smoothly. The entire move is about 300k in file size and the record is being animated via actionscript.How do some of these bigger sites get these HUGE animations to run in the background so smoothly?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Set Separate Times For Each Animation?

Feb 21, 2007

I've been trying to do some animation based on setInterval. I pretty much got it working exept for one thing! I want to set separate times for each animation. Se the code below or download the sourcefiles here.

So the problem is that I want the SetInterval time to be the current value from the time array, as it it now I can only set the interval time once here:

ActionScript Code:
txt_obj.onLoadComplete = function() {
intervallID = setInterval(slideIt, time[current]);
};

and never again, what I want is that after each time the slideIt function has run a new value from the time array will be sent to the interval and that will indicate when to run the intervalfunction(slideIt) again..

ActionScript Code:
stop();
import classes.Slide;
//INTERVAL TIMES

Creating An Animated Background / Flash Animation - Multiple Looped Animations

Oct 27, 2011

I'm creating an animated background/flash animation, in short I have several tweened pieces all moving/swinging around and I want them all to loop at the end of their individual loops. Each piece is on its own layer) I have been using gotoAndPlay(2); (I'm using a preloader so frame 2 is the start). The problem is (If I'm correct here) is the first layer to reach the end runs the "go to and play" resetting everything!. I want each layer to act independantly. Is there a different version of gotoAndPlay(2); that will work or am I looking at things like nested animations/importing individual fla's ect (all of which goes over my head).

I have it working so that when another button is clicked, it plays the exit animation of the current SWF, then loads the new one. Here is the code that I used for that: on a button:

Code:
on (release) {
if (_root.currMovie == undefined) {
_root.currMovie = "who";

Then, when one of the main buttons is clicked, I would like it to play the exit animation of the swf that is currently in container2, then play the exit animation of the swf that is currently in container, then load the new swf into container.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [CS3] Netstream Play/Pause - Show A Couple Of Short Animations?

I'm using netstream to show a video in .flv.Over this video I need to show a couple of short animations, and when they play, I need to paus the long video so it doesn't plays in advance in the background.I've got this script to pause the movie:

Code:
btnPlay.onRelease = function () {
ns.pause();
}

But how do I apply it so that when the timeline hits a certain frame, it calls it. I mean, the user can't really know when to stop to see the animations, so it has to be done at a specific time.

Code:
this.onEnterFrame = function(){
ns.pause();

Would do it.
